I have been a huge fan of Jon Land’s for many years and I am always eager to pick up another one of his novels.

Dark Light Dawn is a new genre for Jon Land and he has outdone himself. The opening is the hook, slowly reeling me in character by character, event by event, a war between good and evil ravages the world, innocents and guilty a falling in agony.

Jon Land keeps the mystery going, slowly sharing pieces of what brought the world to this cataclysmic place, making it impossible for me to put the book down. Will anyone survive? Are we facing extinction?

The story is told from multiple points of view and I enjoyed seeing each character’s perspective and motivation.

It all began with Ben Younger…

Ben Younger and his partner, Dale Denton, are drilling oil, or at least trying to, on the impact crater of The Big Bang. Is it cursed, or is the Mexican way of doing business too costly. I guess that tells us there will be surprising developments arising.

Will arrogance and greed be Dale Denton’s downfall?

Max Younger, Ben’s son was in the fight of his life in Yemen. He functioned as if a man in auto mode, he has a sixth sense. NOW, he’s in an even bigger fight and there is so much more at stake than just his life.

Vicky is a wiz with disease, having worked for the CDC and WHO and is called to Jordan.

Al-Qadir in Iraq, is a ruthless savage, hell bent on torturing and killing all those who oppose him.

Science fiction, religious, paranormal and supernatural, horror…you decide.

The minute I thought I had everything figured out, the worst is over…

Holy Moly, what can I say?

The tension goes on and on and on and one.

Dark Light Dawn by Jon Land filled me with so many emotions, I was spent by the time I read the last word….but, please Jon….I WANT MORE!

Amazing! Mind shattering!

I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of Dark Light Dawn by Jon Land & Fabrizio Boccardi.

Excellent read from Jon Land.

Death is spreading across the Middle East and there seems to be only one man who possibly can save the world, or possibly destroy it. Navy Seal, Max Younger, is this man. This is a mystery of a lot of different twists and turns and involves many unruly characters. It goes back further than his father's death and was his dad's death really suicide?

Many characters give many points of view as to what is happening to the world and who is responsible for all the calamaties happening. I kept trying to figure out how Max would somehow try to save everyone and where his strength came from.

Max and his one true love, Vicky Tanoury, who works for the World Health Organization are reunited at one point; but, then through a series of complications are once again parted.

The ending of the book surprised me. I hope you will enjoy it when it comes out in August.

A stylistic departure for Jon Land that was well worth the risk!

It's the end of days. Death spreads across the land, coming from the Middle East––an epidemic of biblical proportions––crossing science and superstition, and only one man has the power to save the world… or destroy it. Max Younger, a Navy SEAL with the nickname 'Pope' for his ability to survive anything, finds himself face to face with his tragic past––a mystery that goes far deeper than his father's death and the scandal surrounding it. Trapped by a sinister plot, a biblical apocalypse upon the world, Max must choose. Save the world, or embrace the Dark Light. DARK LIGHT: DAWN is a masterfully plotted labyrinth of mystery and suspense, packed with staggering twists and turns, rocketing toward a cataclysmic denouement that will blow your mind!

Navy Seal Max Younger emerges from the shadows with a strange luck and an unnatural ability to kill. Plagued by fits of rage and bloody visions of his own future, Max is never certain whether he is man or monster. But when dark forces unleash an otherworldly pathogen, the monster comes out with a vengeance. Max Younger may be part angel or part demon. The line between the two runs terribly thin. I really tried to this book. Reviews at Amazon are stellar. I was persistent. Because the actual writing is good, I read 275 pages of 429 before I finally gave up. It was the plot that overpowered me. I read a lot of genres; action/adventure, science fiction, fantasy, detective stories, contemporary fiction, horror and others. I’ve been reading Jon Land books for over 30 years and normally enjoy his style. This one missed the mark. Temporal, physical, and character displacement may have worked for Cloud Atlas but it doesn’t work here. The story jumps between events in the past and present, to different characters, to various locations. Some events might be concurrent - it’s hard to tell. I couldn’t develop any empathy with the characters - they all seemed shallow and generic. I think the genre of this novel would be a combination of action/adventure, science fiction, and fantasy. Even suspending belief and trying to view it as a fantasy did not make plot feasible. I regret the time I wasted on this one… Give the style 3 stars and the plot one star… Julie A.H.V22 1 follower

This is a great horror/sci-if story at it’s best ,it’s fast paced and there are no boring or slow parts to it at all,the best way I can describe this book is if Michael Crichton and Stephen King wrote a book together this would be the result,Jon Land and Fabrizio Boccardi truly did a wonderful job with this amazing book, with Halloween just around the corner,I truly recommend this book,it’s got everything from the supernatural to zombies to fanatical religious tyrants with a little love story sprinkled in,what more do you want? I got lucky I actually bought this copy from my local Dollar Tree store, books are quite expensive especially during COVID-19 when people are out of work..I thank my lucky stars I have an ample supply of books all for a dollar each. Ugh. So the writing is fine. There was a lot of exciting, fast-paced scenes. But the story was all over the place, there were too many characters, too many coincidences and I had been planning on at least rating it 3 stars until I got to the last quarter of the book where everything came together and it was weak and dumb. This book had everything from sort-of vampire, to sort-of zombies, to terrorist and military and religion including the presence of god & devil, a love story... could this have tried any harder? What can I say about this work, well let’s start by saying it had its moments when horror snuck in to it, and that’s why I give it 4 Stars, it could’ve been 5 stars, but it wandered into a bunch of scientific jargon. And that’s good and all but not for this. If you want to read a 4 star book, then by all means, if you don’t then I wouldn’t bother. That’s my review and if you don’t it then o we’ll, I can write only how I feel. Diane Yonchuk162 1 follower

PULSE POUNDING! Excellent apocalyptic thriller! Constant tension that just builds, and builds, and builds! At the beginning, I wasn't sure of where he was going stylistically, but as I got into it, I thought, "Ah.. Now I get it!" As I approached the ending, I couldn't turn the pages fast enough! Also, one of the most black hearted villains ever! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT! Naomi Wilson258 8

It's an excellent end of days thriller complete with zombies, villainous business men and religious leaders, a badass hero with supernatural abilities, a little romance, and a ton of blood and violence. I'm looking forward to the next book in The Maximillian Chronicles. I still have a couple questions that need answers.

Another Jon Land winner

Those familiar with the author will enjoy and dive deeply into his latest, the beginning of another potentially potent series. Thriller, occult, spiritual and elements of fantasy coexist with action aplenty. A great read. Ray Palen1,634 48
