I so badly wanted to love this book, but it was so short it really felt it was designed to be number 3.5 in the series rather than a 4th full installment.

This book had so much potential and it really fell flat. As a queer woman I LOVE seeing sapphic monster love, we are criminally underrepresented and when the story ended I felt robbed of a full love story between these 2 characters.

Olivia is such an incredible character and I was really really rooting for her and Erica to have an in depth love story worthy of her.

I was severely disappointed by the choice to give Olivia compatible male anatomy. This felt a huge erasure of all the sapphic components and it was a "fix" for the gayness and the fact that 2 women can't make a child without help. While I am sure this was not at all the intention of the author this was upsetting because this was already a short installment and they could have used a donor just sapphic couples irl. “I’m a lesbian born into a traditional orcish royal family. My only role in my world was to make more orcs. My family wanted me to hide what I am, or lie about myself, but I wouldn’t. I’ve had to fight, to have any choices at all. You might be a mystic, but you still have choices,” I say. “I’ll make sure of it.” She looks away but keeps her hand in mine. And we stay that way until the helicopter starts to descend.”

This was my first monster romance and I actually thought it was fantastic. Wasn’t sure how I was going to feel about it! But the spice was SPICY
