There is just something about Matt that makes you want to root for him. He certainly has issues, but then...who doesn’t? I honestly found his interactions with the other leading man, Cory, to be engaging and in many cases, a great deal of fun. Matt and Cory are loaded with personalities of their own...and I loved Matt's literal angel and demon residing on his shoulders...but paranormal fantasy parts of the story never overshadowed the romance we see brewing. They only added to it. If you are a L.A. Witt, fan then you already know that typically she is all about bringing the angst to any situation and while there is some in this story, there is also plenty of humor, heat, and just plain sweetness. This has it all and it is wrapped up in a fairly short story. I have always been a big fan of L.A. Witt and I own quite a few of her books, so was excited when I saw how many of her stories had been added to Hoopla....and this was one of them. It's fun, it's spicy, and has characters you won’t want to walk away from. Plus, if you are paranormal romance fan and don't mind that it's two guys, then you may want to give A Single Soul a chance. This is one of the cutest stories I've read in a long time! It has a fantastic mix of humour and angst, which sounds odd, but really isn't from this author, lol. Just the premise of the story, trying to find love with the help of an angel and a devil on your shoulder is brilliant. This one is CUTE! A fantasy-light universe that didn't need a lot of world-building - you can easily get the gist. When Matt discovered that he had both angel and demon on his shoulders were hilarious.

The part where Matt and Cory both pining about the others because they both thought they weren't good enough for the other person probably became repetitive and annoying after some time. BUT, it's good that this is only a novella-length. So it didn't become TOO much in the end. Having the angel and the demon bickering was fun to read as well.

A cute, shorter story, set in a world that is mostly normal contemporary, but with Fae and other magic people part of daily life. I really d how the author dropped just enough info to understand, but not too much, and didn’t exhaustively describe the world when it wasn’t needed. Essentially this is a friends-to-lovers romance, and it’s lovely.

Fun & Cute

This fun story was very cute and had me chuckling many times throughout. It is definitely an entertaining story that I'll go back to again. I especially loved the audiobook narrated by Michael Ferraiuolo.

I d this book. First it was just funny, but then events began to gain momentum.
I d how Cory's and Matt's emotions after the club and sex are described. I d description of Cory's hurt and Matt's worrying and regret for making hurt to Cory. I love such moments in books, with a lot of hurt, especially when they are written so in detail, and one main character can't stop regret for hurting the other main character, and his heart aches for him.
I also really d that the author moved away from stereotypes and made a softer, more emotional character a top, not a bottom. It was very interesting and pleasant to read this. It even made me love Cory more.
And the sex scene is hot)

Matt wants to try to find love, but has an angel & a devil both vying to help him... Cory, his neighbor that he’s loved from afar for a while, is willing to help Matt find love. What he doesn't know is that Cory feels the same....

This was a cute story. In the beginning, I found the angel & devil to be annoying, but as they kept up their antics, they became quite funny & I started to look forward to what nonsense they would do next.

Okay, those last few chapters definitely saved the whole thing for me. And, I mean, Michael Ferraiuolo is an audiobook narrator that can breathe life into almost anything.
