What a lovely little book! Moore truly knows how to write emotions so they float off the page, even in a short story this novella.

Also, what an atmospheric setting this book had! Definitely read it in the middle of a snowstorm for the full effect - even better if you're surrounded by your houseplants.

I enjoyed meeting Tallulah and Evren (why are the romances in this series SO SWEET?!), and I loved the tie-in to the overarching story happening in Through the Wicked Wood. I can't wait to pick up the story in Through a Somber Sky later this year and see how Tallulah and Evren play into the main storyline!

This novella is so beautiful. The depth of characters and development in such a short amount of time is incredible.

I was so immersed in this story with these characters. This enemies to lovers prequel to Through the Wicked Wood, is full of vulnerability, longing and the desire to be better in a world of cruelty.

Tallulah is an escaped Enchantress living in hiding.
Evren is the Captain of the Royal Hunters, the men who hunt and capture Enchantresses and take them to the corrupt king.
They are forced to stay together through a storm and all they thought they knew comes crashing down. 1 Candace P.408 2

This was such a perfect light fantasy novella! The story was easy to follow and I fell in love with Tallulah and Evren.

I loved how right away we see Tallulah pushing her powers beyond what was normal for her. Evren took a little longer to warm up, since he was a hunter, but once he did and we saw some of his vulnerabilities, I definitely fell hard.

I definitely want more of their story after this little taste and I hope it ties into the next book in the Enchantress Awakens series!1 Megan J139 14
