Really cute and well written. Both Elijah and Arren were very able characters although it sometimes felt they were younger than they were supposed to be. I appreciate that Maizey-Jane and pitbull rescue was central to the story so it is rather ironic that the dog portrayed on the cover is not a pitbull.
While overall this was an enjoyable read, it was way too short. By the time I got to the end, things were looking up, the characters were starting to develop and then...bye bye! It felt I was sent one of those stupid “Preview” copies that some authors to send to draw you in. This really could have/should have been a much longer book. All the elements are there: able characters from opposite sides of the track, dogs, background elements for a little angst, etc. Would love to read an expanded edition someday. Marcy Shane549
