Sinopsis

Brody O’Connor joins the revelry of the yearly St. Patrick's Day pub crawl, hunting a like-minded man for a night of fun and frolic with no strings attached. When a mystery man in an emerald green shirt engages Brody’s interest, it doesn’t take long for the hunter to become the prey.

Well-matched with his mystery man, Brody regrets his "no strings" approach to a night of shared passion that leaves him hungry for more. The morning after, Evan is gone, as agreed. Brody knows it was a mistake to let him go, and vows to find him.

Evan also never expected to meet someone like Brody. Now Brody wants to change the rules, and Evan decides he’ll give Brody one more night to convince him to stay.

By nine o’clock, I wasn’t sure if I was worried or angry, but I was jittery. Caught up in that first flush of a new relationship, I missed him on a visceral level. I longed for his presence, for his smell, his heat. His laughter.

I resisted the urge to call his cell phone, mainly because I didn’t want him to think I was checking up on him. A family visit could last a lot longer than anticipated. A lot.

What had begun between Evan and me was not imaginary. It was remarkable and real, powerful and potent. Yes, we had a lot to learn about each other still, but I wanted to take my time, peel back the layers of him slowly, savoring each new revelation.

I’d reached my mid-thirties and had learned a few things. I could read people pretty well. Evan was as serious about me as I was about him. The only games he would play were those like the night of the pub crawl, open and for all to see. If he planned to see someone else on his way back to me, he would have said so.

Midnight came, draping a heavy cloak of worry over my shoulders. I knew, beyond any doubt, he’d not purposefully stood me up. I paced the floor, trapped by the four walls and a sense of impending disaster.

When the doorbell rang, I was unprepared for the adrenaline rush of fear that paralyzed me. I shook it off, bolted to the door, and flung it open. Darren and Cole stood there, grim-faced. A cold finger of unease traced the length of my spine.

“Do you two know what time it is?”

Cole, another of the Rumours partners, and an old friend, grasped my elbow. “Brody, we need to sit down.”

I pulled away from him. “Why? What’s wrong?”

“Brody, just how is it between you and Evan Delapontes?”

My stomach roiled, churning up acid. “Serious. What’s wrong?”

Darren moved to my side, close. “Listen, Brody. We don’t know much. Cole was on call this afternoon.”

My knees threatened to give out. Cole was a paramedic.

“What call?” I grabbed him by the front of his jacket. He didn’t try to shake me off, just covered my hands with his.

“About five o’clock, someone ran a red light and broad-sided Evan Delapontes’ Jaguar. I recognized him ’cause he works in the same building with Nate. When I got to the club just a bit ago, Darren said you and he had a thing going…”

Seven hours ago. I should not have worried about pissing him off and gone looking for him.

The world took on an unreal, distant quality. The air in my lungs felt heavy, liquid. Surely I hadn’t heard Cole correctly. Darren’s voice came to me through a tunnel.

Cold fear, so icy it burned in my chest, kept me from asking the question, the answer to which could end all the hopes I’d built during the day.

Darren saw and spared me. “He’s in intensive care at County General.”

Reseñas Varias sobre este libro

It's St. Patrick's Day and Brody is talked into going on the annual Pub Crawl by his best friend. It's been a few months since his breakup and he's finally ready to get out and have some fun.

At one of the first bars they hit Brody notices a handsome stranger and after a while it's obvious they are both interested and attracted to each other. They begin a fun game of 'catch me if you can' and before the night is over things are getting hot and heavy between them.

This short story was an easy and fun read. I enjoyed Brody and Evan's game of chase and I d their interaction once they 'caught' each other. After only two days they are developing serious feelings for one another when an accident occurs. The consequent health issues and the strain of dealing with parents that are not quite accepting of a gay son was well written and I really d how the author portrayed the characters feelings for each other against how they dealt with those issues.

Overall I d this story. The writing is solid, the characters interesting and the story flows well. If you're looking for a nicely done romantic story with a happy ending I think you'll enjoy this book.ebook m-m what-i-read-in-20093 s Kassa1,118 113

It’s been a few months since Brody’s unfaithful lover has left and he’s finally ready to move on and dip a cautious toe back into the dating pool once more, much to the happiness of his friends. In the hours proceeding the annual pub crawl for St. Patrick’s Day, Brody happens to run into the same attractive man not once, but twice and then repeatedly as Brody and his friend Sandy make their way from bar to bar. Intrigued and amused, Brody and his mystery man play a game of catch me if you can along the pub route until neither wants to play games any longer. What starts as a night of mutual satisfaction soon grows in intensity but it cut short by a car accident, leaving the path to a happy ending is never easy or painless.

Brody is hoping for some fun and hot sex when he goes out that night, but the chemistry and connection between he and his mystery man, Evan, are almost too much too soon. Although he’s over his ex, he is still cautious and worried about heading into another relationship so soon and never expected to find someone he genuinely d and felt something with on his first night out again. Brody moves rather quickly from his caution to embracing the feelings he has for Evan, it’s an easy transition that doesn’t take much more than Brody waking up and thinking he’s an idiot to deny this, which is refreshing if a bit too easy. His stubborn refusal to give up even over misunderstandings and fights helps give more insight into his character beyond the tentative lover he’s initially described as.

Evan is fun loving and confident in his life and who he is, with an ability to smile and laugh easily, a perfect compliment to the more serious Brody. Evan has shades from his past with hints of issues with jealousy, abandonment, and commitment. Yet he embraces his newfound relationship with Brody easily and happily, which is tested when Evan is involved in a tragic car accident leaving him hospital bound and then home bound just two days after he and Brody met. For the naturally active man, this is particularly frustrating on top of finding your footing with a new relationship.

Both Evan and Brody’s families are nearby and add to the dynamic as loving yet not entirely accepting. The complex family dynamic from both men adds to their connection while showing another layer of complications that most relationships face. Even for all the communication these two men have, their characters are still left something of a mystery. There are references to possible past hurts Evan has experienced yet isn’t explained, as well as how these two men can fit their lives together. This is very much an introduction to their relationship and a tentative branch each offers the other than a confirmed love story just yet.

Although there some obvious editing errors, for the most part this is an easy book to read with a flowing story that can be slightly too flowery at times. The story has a definite feminine overtone to the book from the prose to the sex scenes and the characterizations. The men have very little angst and the writing is occasionally clumsy in it’s handling with situations, such as the chase game. However, this was a lovely romance and the beginning of a relationship with charming characters so beyond its problems, this does deliver as a likable and engaging romance.

Sweet read about two men who have been hurt in the past but meet one night at a bar crawl and feel that certain something special. A bit of drama thrown in but nothing that made me weepy. I never did understand what Evan's dads problem was though. Kind of frustrating seeing as the guy was quite the asshole.a-pages-150-199 cover-color-yellow1 Meggie5,017
