Felony Murder by Kassandra Lamb is the first book in The C.o.P. on the Scene Mysteries Series that I have read. While I had no problem keeping up with the characters or the plot there were some comments made about Chief of Police Judith Anderson’s past story that makes me want to know more. So since this story was so intriguing, I do plan to read the previous three books now.

This book has several seemingly unconnected events that are happening but by the end the author has woven them all together into on cohesive story that all fits together. That is impressive, interesting, and kept me on my toes. About halfway through I noticed the time and thought I will read only another chapter or two. Then before I knew it, I was finishing the book a couple of hours later. Any story that gets me so engrossed is a winner!

Judith gets an unexpected call on her private cell phone. It’s an unknown number but she answers and it’s a teenager, in jail, for murder. He claims he didn’t do it and pleads with her to look into his case. At the same time somebody is taking pot shots at the Mayor. And she’s seeing Sam, her boyfriend, around town with other women. She starts looking into the teenager’s case and the more she finds, the more confusing it gets. She hears from her old friend, Kate Huntingdon, and shares the case with her. This is a well written story with multiple threads that keep you guessing. I know when Kassandra Lamb puts out a new book it will be worth the read! Sandy725 11

Engaging reading. I admire the female police chief. She has so many issues in her life: former and current corruption in her workforce, politics, romance questions, etc. She does have a helpful therapist. This is my first experience with this author. I really enjoyed her writing. I am eager to read more of her work. Thanks to the publisher for providing a copy. My review is voluntary. Merrie202 2

I thoroughly enjoyed this latest entry of the series. Familiar characters are back, along with some new ones to entertain us. The plot is intriguing, with lots of twists and turns that kept me reading late into the night. I simply couldn't put it down.
