Sinopsis

Valentine's Day is fast approaching, but not everyone in Juniper Grove is in the mood for love. Convinced her husband is cheating on her with a mysterious dark-haired woman, Brigit Gundersen decides to tell the whole town about it—by plastering Main Street with flyers declaring his infidelity.

Desperate to discover the identity of her rival, Brigit asks Rachel Stowe to investigate, something Rachel is reluctant to do. But when Brigit is murdered, Rachel feels compelled to get to the bottom of the case.

This light, cozy mystery offers a clean read with a female amateur sleuth in a small-town setting. No foul language, sex, gore, or graphic scenes of any kind. It can be read as a standalone, but it will be enjoyed more as part of the series.

Juniper Crove, Colorado. Present day. February with Valentine’s Day approaching. Karin Kaufman’s Cheating Death (Juniper Grove Mysteries #6) finds this small town NE of Denver preparing to celebrate Valentine’s Day, but not all are in the love box. It appears that one couple definitely is in the hate box, and things do not bode well for a happy Valentine’s celebration. Actually, Rachael Stowe discovers a body (She does this often.) shortly after this woman was in town making a spectacle of herself. I have enjoyed this author’s other books in this series, but his one either had too many characters talking at the same time or the main characters connected to the murder victim were lying or attempting to cover for another character. Either way there was too much dialogue, and I became tired trying to keep everyone straight. This story, I felt, is not one of the author’s better ones. It certainly did not seem even close to Valentine’s Day. 3 stars.mystery-cozy own series4 s Susan Snodgrass2,002 246

Karin Kaufman once again proves she is quite adept at cozy mysteries with this 6th installment of her Juniper Grove Cozy Mystery series. I have grown quite fond of the inhabitants of this tiny Colorado town and look forward to seeing them each time a new book comes out.

This time around, amateur sleuth and mystery writer Rachel Stowe discovers the body of Brigit Gundersen in her house, hit on the head and murdered. Suspects seemingly abound until another body shows up and then Rachel, along with her pals in the sleuthing business, the Juniper Grove gang, Julia and Holly, must scramble to find out who is responsible before yet another body makes a grisly appearance.

Kaufman is so good at this and her dry wit this time around had me laughing out loud! I very much look forward to each one of these. Well written novellas, but feeling a full length novel, they capture the reader's imagination and the culprit is always a surprise. Where's number 7?1 Lisa Millett285 8

Great cozy mystery

Va!entine's Day is quickly approaching in Juniper Grove and the town is preparing for the dance at town hall. Rachel Shows is headed to her best friend Holly's sweet shop for her daily supply of cream puffs when she encounters Brigit, one of the townspeople putting up flyers. Before she can get away from her, Brigit goes up to Rachel handing her the flyer. The flyer has a picture of Brigit 's husband with the word cheater in it. Although Rachel doesn't want to get involved with the obviously distraught and drunk woman, she is stuck listening to Brigit complain about her cheating husband Wayne. Suddenly Wayne appears screaming at Brigit about the flyers while he is taking them down and destroying them. Officer Underhill shows up, breaks up the ruckus and escorts Brigit home but not before Brigit asks Rachel to find the woman that her husband is cheating on her with. Not wanting to get involved Rachel refuses and tried to go about her day. Later in the day Rachel feels she should check on Brigit and when she arrives at her house she discovers the front door ajar. Thinking that Brigit night have injured herself, Rachel calls out to her and enters the house. Rachel finds Brigit dead on her kitchen floor by obvious head injury. Once again Rachel finds herself in the middle of a murder. Despite the Chief of police, who is also her boyfriend, telling her to stay out of it, Rachel feels she at least owes it to Brigit to find her husband's lover. Once she begins to investigate Rachel discovers a small group of Brigit's so called friends are acting strange. No one seems to be mourning her death and they are all saying nasty things about her. Narrowing her suspect list down to about four people, Rachel consults with her buddies Holly and Julia but they are all stumped. For once she also can't seem to get any information out of her boyfriend Chief Gilroy who is being rather grumpy and short fused. Will Rachel be able to solve the murder? Will she be able to save the Valentine's Day dance? This is a good mystery series with interesting small town feel, politics, gossip and sparkling characters. One of the things I think I the most about this series is the fact that the main characters are in their middle forties and older which makes them more flawed but able, more experienced but also with some self doubt and not perfect physically. It is easier for someone my age to relate o them. Great book, great series and loveable characters.

A woman scorned?

Loved it. Who hasn't wanted to plaster the name of a cheating partner to hell and back?! When she is begged to investigate a cheating spouse, her instinct is stay well clear but the death of the wronged wife force her into taking action. A brilliant plot and a wonderful look at the depths some people will sink to get their own way. Some parts I guessed but the motive was a sheer brilliant stroke. Wonderful. Great to meet our favourites again and see them unravel the nefarious deeds going on around them whilst still building their own sweet relationship. Wade716 20

Another great and solid read in an entertaining cozy series. As always, the characters and the mystery is top notch and Karin Kaufman throws plentiful red herrings to keep you guessing all the way. While the mystery's conclusion might not have been as satisfying as some of the previous books in the series, it did make sense. And for some reason, there seemed to be more typos than in some of the previous books. I will keep plowing ahead with this wonderful series, though I will be sad when the journey ends. cozy-mystery kindle-unlimited Elizabeth Evans279 3

Wives and. husbands, whew

Feeling I've said this before, which i have, this story was maybe the best yet! I
Although I suspected the one who did it -- ok, one of two -- I wasn't entirely positive so the reveal was very fulfilling. Only problem with this series? It makes me want donuts, scones and cream puffs! Patricia400

Very well done!

Karin Kaufman has become one of my favorite authors. Writing about a mystery writer who is seemingly finding bodies everywhere & helping to solve the crimes is genius. She also includes a little romance!

I'm enjoying this series, and I watching the characters' relationships develop from book to book.

Rachel, Julia, and Holly are a fun trio of friends and amateur sleuths, and I appreciate the diversity of their ages and life experiences.

Overall, this is a good book. The plot was well written, but the relationship situations between Rachel and Gilroy felt a little contrived and unrealistic.2018 Peg374 1 follower

Rachel is back for another installment in the Juniper Grove series. It is Valentine's Day, but not everyone is feeling the love. Resident Brigit is found murdered after plastering the city with flyers proclaiming her husband is a cheater! Who wanted Brigit dead? Rachel, her friends and Chief Gilroy must find out before anyone else is hurt! Another great addition to the series. Annie MillerAuthor 31 books39

Excellent Series

So I’ve read all of the available books in this series and honestly it’s hard to isolate which one is my favorite. I love the characters only wish we had more development between Rachel and the Chief, however the “Gang” are hilarious and it makes me think of shows Murder, She Wrote or Remington Steele. Not because the characters are similar or storylines but because of the characters make the series perfect. Can’t wait for it to continue! Sandy Bartles1,395 40
