A fun quick cozy mystery read. You just have to love the Artzy Chicks. How could someone steal a masterpiece painting off a ship with supposed tight security? Will this be the financial ruin for LauraLea? A shipload of fun!! Follow the antics of these classy ladies on their cruise of the Artic Circle, you won't be disappointed. Recommend. Received an ARC and this is my voluntary honest review.1 Anne Pyles50 1 follower

I love your books! The descriptions of the painting were awesome! And the characters are delightful. A very enjoyable read. 1 SS782 26

2 1/2 stars

This is the first book I’ve read by this author. I can’t say that I was impressed. I will say that I had an advanced reader copy, and accept that there could be some errors and inconsistencies, but not this many.

There are abrupt shifts in scene without providing the necessary information for you to realize that the scene has changed. It just jumps. There’s sooooo much repetition, and almost everyone knows and says the same things. Concepts, stories, and words are used over and over again. The dialogue is often stilted. I also found it odd that the author would choose to use her own last name for one of the main characters.

Details kept changing. For example, at first it was just gold leaf that was used in a painting. Then it changed to gold, silver, and bronze. Then to silver and gold. That was annoying. It was also rather obvious what was going to happen, how things would turn out.

I found it odd that when the crime occurred they called the FBI instead of INTERPOL. They were in Europe, and while the FBI can do some things, it seems that INTERPOL would have had more ability to track down the criminals

Everything was telegraphed to the reader. There was no real mystery; it was more a matter of telling you what was going to happen, then seeing it happen, and then being told it happened. Let me make the extremely clear: the book tells you exactly what is going to happen, so there are no surprises, there’s little plot.

So many things that don’t work in this book. For instance, Europeans use American slang and colloquialisms. One of the characters, a bad guy, who was admired by the lead characters in this book as being handsome and kind, are derided by his fellow bad guys for having rotting teeth and bad breath. I think the ladies at the art gallery who spent time with him would have known that and not been as trusting of him. Also, the characters in Europe know exactly when the FBI found out about them, but how is that possible? The reader is never told how they would know.

This book just isn’t believable. For instance, take this quote:

My partners are gonna kill me and you’ve cost me thousands and thousands, perhaps millions of dollars.

You’d think he’d have his priorities straight. If he’s going to die, does it matter how much money he may or may not have lost? Also, the lead charters in the book own an art gallery that holds thousands and thousands, maybe millions, of dollars’ worth of art, but they don’t have any kind of a security system. They even keep a key on a ledge above the porch, and they’ve shared that hiding location with others. Unbelievable. The book then takes a turn and finishes up as a travelogue.

The characters are flat and two-dimensional. They are as cardboard as you can get. Sadly, they pretty much fit with the rest of this book. This is the first book I’ve read by this author. I can’t say that I was impressed. I will say that I had an advanced reader copy, and accept that there could be some errors and inconsistencies, but not this many.

I can’t say that I’m enthusiastic to read another book by this author. I would definitely want it to have undergone extensive editing before I would. In good conscience, I cannot recommend this book.

I received an advanced reader copy of this book from the author. I thank her for her generosity, but it had no effect on this review. All opinions in this review reflect my true and honest reactions to reading this book.advanced-reader-copy art art-theft ...more Michele1,852 56

I have read about The Artzy Chicks before--mostly in compilations. I really did the stories so when I saw this one being offered alone--I grabbed it. LauraLea is an artist who owns a gallery way up in the mountains near a resort. Lily is an author who also helps LauraLea with her artwork on occasion.

They has collaborated on a large mixed media creation which they called The Majestic Norway. It had been selected by a ship headed to Norway for auction aboard their ship. The women were getting an all expense paid cruise and were to give a lecture on how to mix media. To say they were happy would be putting it mildly!

They packed up the piece and had it shipped--then they took off.

But something happened-the artwork had been switched!! It took a bit of doing and knowing some influential people but there is a happy ending! Luckily LauraLea had not brought her gun with her!! You are not going to help laughing at the inept thieves as they try to steal the rest of the artwork!!

This is a well written book with lots of twists and turns and some laughs as well which I am sure you will enjoy. Alice Hazelbaker1,007 10

Another great Artzy Chicks mystery!

Lily and LauraLea are off to Norway and the Arctic circle on a cruise. After an article in an art magazine highlighted their mixed media acrylic pours, they’ve been invited to lecture on and auction their most ambitious work yet, the three-piece Majestic Norway. But as usual, things don’t go according to plan. The art makes it to the cruise ship only to disappear the next day! The ship security and local police aren’t very interested in looking for art, even expensive art! So, Lily calls home to her friend in the FBI for help and the hunt is on. Dr. Lucci has a real winner in this series. Great characters, fun mysteries and even some romance! Renee Arthur426 3

Snark abounds in this must read cozy mystery. Lily and LauraLea have been creating acrylic multi-media paintings. Majestic Norway is a beautiful three piece painting set to be auctioned off on a cruise ship. The ladies head to London for a few days before they join the cruise to Norway. They're very exited and having a good time. But you know something has to go wrong in a good cozy mystery and oh boy, does it ever. I was totally involved in the whole book and had lots of laugh out loud moments while reading it. If you cozy mysteries that have tense moments and crazy laughter, you'll love this newest in the Artsy Chicks collection. Jenny Propst102 2

The Missing Majestic Norway

This is a fast moving Artzy Chicks cozy mystery. As with the other books in the series I loved it!
Lily and LauraLea once again find themselves caught in a mystery. This time it hits close to them with a lot at steak. They are on a Norwegian cruise with their painting called Majestic Norway. It is to be sold for a life changing amount of money. Before that can happen it is stolen and they are off and running to find out who took it and to get back. I quickly got caught up in the story and couldn't put it down Kim Mullin16 3

Once again, I started one of Lucci's series at the end and will now be reading the rest of the series. I loved this book! It was a fast read and had delightful characters and lots of excitement. The Artzy Chicks are entertaining and full of spunk. I can't wait to read the rest of the series. I received this as an advanced copy and got to cancel my order since I already pre-ordered it. Thanks again, Judith, another fun series. Terri415 5

Another wonderful Artzy Chicks book! Lily and LauraLea have created a masterpiece called Majestic Norway and they are on a Norwegian cruise to sell it. What should have been a wonderful vacation culminating in the sale of the masterpiece goes horribly wrong when it is stolen. Of course Lily has to be involved in solving the mystery. You'll get so involved in the story you won't be able to put it down! Loved it! Kym Gamble378 16

Another Artzy Chicks book. It was a good, fast read that kept me on the edge of my seat. The Chicks go on an Arctic cruise and some of their art will be displayed on the ship. The perfect set up for a "who done it?" I love the characters in Judith Lucci's books. I also that one of the Chicks is a writer and writes the other books written by Lucci. Great for a light mystery read. I hope she writes more. Eirlys1,484 11

The Artsy Chicks go cruising

Lily and LauraLea have created an impressive work of art, which was to be auctioned off aboard a ship. The profit was to be used to support the wildlife after the terrible wildfires in Australia. On-board things go wrong and the two friends find themselves searching for the culprits. Great characters. Mary Coleman20 1 follower

Dr Lucci always surprises her readers. Thrillers, suspense or cozy mysteries. I love the Artsy Chicks series. Amazing descriptions of the Article Circle, more Ham and his gang, intriguing crimes... What more could a reader want?if Marlys1,244 6

This is the first Artsy Chick mystery that I read. I enjoyed reading about Lily and Lauralee's adventure on their Norway cruise. I read this book in one day. I was hooked from the first page. I look forward to reading more books in this series. Della67

Great mystery!

Great read except for the ending. Would have been nice to find out who the big thieves were & what happened to them, even though they were sure who had started it, just my opinion. Debi58

As usual the story was great, the characters wonderful and the adventure fun. Kim439 5
