I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

So… this book was… interesting. First of all, I really appreciated the setting. Mesopotamia/ancient Israel/the East is a historical setting I would love to see more of. And I was instantly intrigued when I saw it was a story about Ahab and Jezebel.

I think the story itself is good, and the storytelling is good. What I think could be better is the narration itself. Sometimes the sentences felt melodramatic and exaggerated. The author is on the way, but I think things need to feel less over the top. Keep the drama, but just don't have it feel melo… dramatic.

Same thing with the dialogue.

One final thing I really d. The story is not predictable. Even though you may know the story of Ahab and Jezebel, this specific story is not predictable at all. I d that.2 s Anne Smith10

"Ahab and Jezebel: A Match Made in Hell" is an intriguing Christian historical fiction that explores the story of King Ahab, the king of Judah, and Jezebel, his queen. Throughout Christian history, these two iconic people are the most notorious and villainous husband-and-wife team to have roamed the earth. They governed the northern kingdom of Israel at a period when the country was congested with sin and wickedness. As the story moves along, we learn that Ahab's biggest mistake was marrying Jezebel, a worshipper of Baal. He abandoned his worship with God to please this insatiable woman.

When the story commences, Ahab is in search of a new concubine. Jezebel is all too happy to grant his request. After all, she is engrossed in her own wicked devices and schemes. In time, Ahab becomes smitten by Nava, a beautiful, young Israelite woman, whose servitude to the God of Israel reminds Ahab of the God he once served.

Jezebel is preoccupied with finding new ways to distress the Israelites. Her constant clashes with the prophet Elijah—and by extension, the God of Israel—is the catalyst that sets the story's wheels in motion. Read this riveting tale to find out how certain events end for poor, unfortunate Ahab. With a wife Jezebel, he doesn't need any enemies, since she's evidently his one-and-only Achilles' heel. But will he wake up and smell the betrayal in time? Read to find out. I longingly await book two. Fingers crossed! Jezebel clearly needs to be stopped!!

Without a shadow of a doubt, "Ahab and Jezebel: A Match Made in Hell" kept this reviewer reading straight until the very end. This is a compelling story that recalls a pivotal time in the history of ancient Judah. The author, Joseph Bringman, grabs the reader's attention from the onset. Based on biblical insight, Bringman was able to perfectly reconstruct the historical settings and era within this exciting novel. He transports the reader into a completely different timeline, but adds a modern twist to the narrative. Very impressive! The story is filled with political intrigue, scheming, power struggles and mayhem. Fans of historical fiction—with a side order of drama flung into the mix—will love this captivating read. Be advised, this story includes profanity, acts of murder and references to incest and sexual assault. Nonetheless, it is a beguiling read that will keep readers engaged. 1 Uma The Tigress34 3

"Ahab and Jezebel- A Match Made in Hell" is an exhilarating rendition of the biblical/historical tale of King Ahab and his wife, Jezebel. The setting is in ancient Judah, but the culture and dialect is wittily written to imitate that of the twenty-first-century. True to history, Ahab is portrayed as a weak and gullible ruler in this novel. Jezebel on the other hand, is a forceful, over-ambitious queen.

Ahab might have been the face of their kingdom, but Jezebel is both the brains and the brawn. In addition to butting heads with the prophet Elijah--who is a constant threat to their authority--Ahab and Jezebel find it increasingly challenging to manage the convoluted dynamics of their kingdom. When Ahab develops feelings for his new Hebrew concubine who worships the Hebrew God, Jezebel's hold on her husband is also challenged.

Suddenly, loyalties and allegiances are tested. Each person, including Ahab's seemingly "innocent" Hebrew concubine, all seem to have their own hidden agendas. The story takes unexpected twists and turns and keeps readers excitedly on the edge of their seats. Very soon, it's clear that the kingdom of Judah is at risk and personal vendettas and agendas are the driving force behind most of its characters.

With the destiny of entire nations in jeopardy, this book depicts the dramatic and complex tale of war, betrayal, false gods, deceitful rulers, and one righteous man's quest to restore balance throughout it all. The characters are intoxicating and will succeed in pulling you into their individual worlds. I truly enjoyed reading this book. It is rich with culture and history, and cleverly explores the mindset of each character and reveals what could have possibly led them to behave the way they did, from a historical perspective.

All in all, I heartily recommend this novel to persons who enjoy reading gripping biblical/historical fiction. It is an entrancing retelling of an entangled and intricate biblical tale that still holds a lot of relevance in our present world today.1 Gèlynn (Lydia)58

One of a kind…

This book offers a captivating exploration of the notorious Jezebel, presenting her in a new light. The author skillfully integrates historical events into this engaging narrative, filled with surprises and twists that will keep you hooked until the last page. If you're familiar with her story from the Bible, you'll be eager to see how each event unfolds. The dialogue between characters is witty and enjoyable, while the portrayal of sibling relationships and Jezebel's family background provides insight into how she became so wicked.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. The author skillfully brings biblical characters to life, weaving engaging dialogues throughout the captivating and twist-filled story. However, I found some parts to be overly drawn out. A more direct and concise narration would have been preferable, particularly in the sacrifice scenes with Elijah (which could have been incredibly thrilling). I also wished to see how Jezebel's fate unfolded, but the book concluded before that. Nevertheless, the author excelled in creating a vivid and immersive world. I eagerly anticipate reading more of their works.

I am delighted to have the privilege of reading the review copy of this wonderful book through Booksprout and leave my honest review.

Poor Ahab was born under the wrong star. He thought his fortunes were looking up when he married Jezebel. She looked great in her wedding ensemble and all went well until after the honeymoon. Her father had been a great leader as was his father but Ahab never measured up and she let him know it every day.

Jezebel enjoys her role as wife and chief adviser to the leader of the country. Every minute of every day she berated him for even the smallest thing including his great appetite. Marching out to war, she hoped he would not come home. However, he was very successful and his campaigns increased the territory of Israel!

On his final campaign, his armor was too tight and did not fit his fattened body. He was brought home on the floorboard of his chariot. His body was ravaged and disfigured by his enemies. Jezebel did not mourn nor acknowledge any of his triumphs. She was beyond a miserable wife. A very enlightening read. 4.5 stars – CE Williams

Right from the beginning, the book talks about King Ahab and Queen Jezebel, who were famous people in the Bible. It also takes you to the big palace, where they live. Then, the author brings to life the olden days of Israel with colorful words and exciting tales.

I must say that the author describes everything so well that you can almost smell the palace! There are other characters in the story as well. Someone Pygmalion, a sneaky priest, and Elishat, a loyal servant. They all add more excitement to the story.

How the author portrays the relationship between Ahab and Jezebel is engaging. Jezebel is strong, and Ahab tries hard to make her happy. They are married, but it is not a happy marriage. They fight and try to trick each other. It actually makes you think about love and power.

The part where Ahab is searching for the truth about his son's murder and Jezebel's grief and anger were powerful. Also, the violence and betrayal in the story might be tough for some readers, but they actually add to the drama.

I will conclude by saying that "Ahab and Jezebel: A Match Made in Hell." is a fun book for those who stories about old times and interesting characters. And I did enjoy it. Give it a try and see if you it!

I grew up in a religious household so I know the story of Ahab and Jezebel pretty well. However, I appreciate the new twist that Bringman added to the story. I wanted to keep reading to know how it would turn out. Even if you know the biblical story, this novel will keep you guessing. We all know that Jezebel wasn't a good person, but I still wanted to know how her story would turn out. It's a nice twist to have a morally ambiguous main character (I won't say protagonist).
Criticisms: While I appreciated the plot, I found the writing repetitive. Certain descriptions were used repeatedly bulbous eyes and green eyes. The dialogue was kind of over the top. I understand that Bringman may have been trying to make it appealing to modern audiences but I was just thinking "I don't think this is how they talked back then", but then again, I'm no expert. This is Bringman's first novel so I see room for improvement but he's off to a great start.
I'm glad I had the opportunity to read this and I would love to follow this author to see what he has in the pipeline.biblical-fiction historical-fiction Emily Dacho17 4

I received a complimentary copy of this book from Ebookfairs.com in exchange for an honest review.

Behind every successful man, there’s a woman. Well, in Ahab’s case, at least as depicted in this novel, there’s no success. Instead, there’s betrayal, the gushing blood of the innocents, and death eventually. Here, God gives Ahab second chances, but Ahab listens to his wife all the time, and so the king of Israel continues to worship false gods. The miracle at Mount Carmel isn’t convincing enough for him. Neither are his concubine’s good intentions. The prophets sent to him, including Elijah, can’t pull King Ahab from his evil queen. Who should read this book? Mostly Christians, especially those who love biblical-based fiction and have a stomach for Jezebel’s bloody modus operandi on how to deal with those standing on her path.
