Sinopsis

How to break up with someone else's fiancé
by Chelsea Porter, aka The Breakup Girl

* Tell him it's not him, it's her.
* Try to ignore how gorgeous Callum McKinnel is. You are breaking up with him, after all.
* Fall just a little bit when he rescues your dog.
* Try to resist when he asks you to join his family for Thanksgiving dinner in Jewell Rock.
* Succumb anyway.
* Succumb to a lot more than that.
* Remind yourself that you are The Breakup Girl. You don't do commitment.

Wonder what would happen if The Breakup Girl stopped following her own advice...

You know Rachael John's stories always pull me in and this one is no exception her first Mills & Boon and great news the first one in a series The McKinnels of Jewell Rock so many great characters in this one and lots more to look forward to.

Callum McKinnel is now pretty much running the family distillery in Jewell Rock they are a very close knit family and Callum is engaged to Bailey they have known each other forever and their mothers are best friends and life is running along a normal path but Callum wants to change things in the distillery and needs the support of his family but life as Callum knows it is about to change when he is confronted by the beautiful Chelsea Porter aka the breakup girl and he finds himself single, so he goes after Chelsea for further explanation and this is a life changer.

Chelsea has had a pretty bad childhood and alcohol has played a big part in it so she has moved to the small town of Bend and is very happy living in her little house with her best friend Muffin the dog and seeing as she is quite good at breaking up with her boyfriends starts her own business of breaking up for other people she is a good listener and this helps but when she meets the gorgeous Callum McKinnel at a distillery of all places her life changes dramatically.

Their second meeting starts sparks that could light up the sky and when Chelsea is devastated because her dog has gone missing and Callum steps up to be a knight in shinning armour this brings them together in such a moving and caring way especially when there is danger thrown into the mix, truly this is a story that you will not want to put down till the end it is beautifully written the setting is magical and it is so very sensual, and the characters are so alive you will feel they are friends. I loved this one from start to finish and can't wait to return to Jewell Rock for the next one thank you MS Johns for hours of reading pleasure. 6 s Sue Gerhardt Griffiths936 52

Rachael Johns is an excellent writer and will always be one of my favourite authors. A switch from her rural romances, A Dog and a Diamond (aka It's not You, it's Her) is Ms Johns's first category romance and it's a beauty!

Wow...what an ingenious story! I had so much fun reading this book and learning about the distillery and the whiskey making process. Following Callum and Chelsea's friendship lead to romance was sweet and uplifting. All the McKinnel characters seemed so lovely and am looking forward to discovering more about their lives in the next book. This was heart-warming and so irresistible, I was completely mesmerised by this story.

Rachael Johns is one of my favourite authors and I’d read anything she wrote, even if it was sci-fi intergalactic dinosaur crime. So when she asked me if I wanted to read her first foray into category romance, I jumped at the chance. ( really high, higher than someone should do in slightly too high heels). I hadn’t read a category romance for some time and I was in just the right mood for it. What I can tell you now is that Rachael Johns can write any genre she wants and make it 100% awesome! I loved A Dog and a Diamond (aka It’s Not You, It’s Her) – it contained everything I want in a category romance plus Rachael Johns’ trademark page sparkle plus some interesting subplots plus a family I really want to get to know in the McKinnels. I want all their stories from Mac to Sophie to even Mrs McKinnel. It’s engaging, sweetly sexy and fun!

We’re introduced to the McKinnel family by way of Chelsea, who unfortunately has some bad news for Callum, boss of the family whiskey distillery. His fiancé Bailey is about to break up with him and er…she’s doing it by remote. Chelsea is The Breakup Girl, the person you hire when you need to end a relationship but can’t do it yourself. For Chelsea, this is strictly work. But when her beloved dog Muffin disappears and Callum helps search, she realises he is actually a very nice guy. What was Bailey thinking? What is Chelsea thinking, mixing work and pleasure?

Chelsea’s a bit lonely and Callum is just the person she needs in her life. It’s not an instalove romance, but well thought, adult and believable. Callum and Chelsea become friends and she starts to trust him, more than she has anyone else for a long time. Callum finds that Chelsea fits perfectly into his life, even the awkward first Thanksgiving after his dad’s death. Could this be more than just a fling? Could The Breakup Girl be falling in love?

There are so many things I loved about this story, but I actually want you to go and read the book so I’ll be succinct. I loved the growing friendship before the romance between Callum and Chelsea. It allowed for witty banter, sweet gestures and all the things friends do for one another. It also stopped Chelsea from being the rebound girl. I d that Chelsea was a heroine who didn’t drink (non-drinking heroines are not something I come across in my reading) yet she respected Callum’s livelihood and was genuinely interested in the whiskey making process. I d her quirky job and her deep love for Muffin. Callum was also a great hero in that he was a seriously Good Guy but went beyond the stereotypes of that – he was thoughtful and quick thinking.

Meeting the rest of the McKinnels was great too, as it felt I was getting to know everyone rather than the sole focus being on the romance. There are some members of that family who really deserve/need a happy ever after from, from cheeky Sophie to the eternally grumpy Mac. Quinn is also a good guy who needs to find the one and there’s an inkling or two that she could be right under his nose…

A Dog and a Diamond is just how I my reading to be – all absorbing, leaving a smile on my face. If you’re not a reader of category romance, you really ought to give this book a go – it will change your thoughts on the genre. If you love Rachael Johns’ other books, you will adore this book too.

Many thanks to Rachael for the eARC of this book. My review is 100% honest.

Enjoyed this book all of Rachael's others. I found it interesting learning about the whisky making process. It reminded me of the Timboon Railway Shed Distillery here in Victoria that also make their world famous whiskey. Although personally I'm not a fan of whisky, I might be tempted to drink it if Callum was serving it to me! :) 3 s Janet Hendricks954 3

The Break-up Expert Finds True Love

I read the first chapter of this book when it was presented as a preview at the end of another book. A story about a break-up expert seemed it would be a novel and interesting read and it was. The characters were likable. Chelsea and Callum met under difficult circumstances. Chelsea was representing Callum"s soon to be ex-fiance. After Chelsea delivered his fiancee's break-up message, she left to go home. Callum followed her home and discovered that her home had been vandalized. After helping her clean up, Callum finds himself drawn to Chelsea. Their attraction to each other is quick and intense, but was this a rebound romance or true love?

If you're looking for a feel good romance, you can't go wrong with this book.2 s Bonnie934 4

A Dog And A Diamond by Rachael Johns. Callum McKinnel's family owns McKinnel's Distillery. Callum is engaged to a childhood friend. Chelsea Porter, who owns a company called "The Breakup Girl", comes to his office to break the news to Callum that his bride to be is dumping him. Callum wasn't all that upset since he didn't "love" Bailey. Chelsea gets threats from a guy who she had to deliver the news his girlfriend was breaking up with him. He blamed Chelsea for the breakfast. A romance was happening between Callum and Chelsea. A good read. 2 s Katreniah109 1 follower

This was really cute and a little poignant. I that Chelsea has created a job out of breaking up for people, and her love for her dog is sweet (as is the reason behind it). I Callum, the romantic protagonist, and his family - although one of the downsides to romance series is that there are so many siblings that it's hard to keep them, and their own stories, apart.romance-series2 s Theresa SmithAuthor 5 books197

He helps in the search for her dog and finds him. He invites her to thanksgiving lunch with his where we his family siblings. It is here where Chelsea begins to fall for Callum. Callum asks her out after finding Muffin and returning him. Chelsea doesn't date her clients but she finds her going out with Callum. Oh my Rachael Johns never disappoints and she has done it again I couldn't put it down sweet loving book 1 in the Jewell Rock series Callum is now running the family business doesn't really have time for anything else though is engaged to someone he doesn't really wont to be in with.

So what happens when sweet loving Chelsea comes to town she has had a rough childhood and not in for a relationship but when they meet there is so much passion and heat can they really deny it or just put on a show for his close knit family.

I expected this to be cheesy - and believe me, it was! - but by the end it was just so over the top I felt I was drowning in fondu. At first I found it cute/funny/amusing, but the ending was so rushed and so unrealistically stupid that I was glad it was over.

They met and fell in love and got engaged in less than a MONTH??? REALLY?? Come on! And the pregnancy at the end to complete this perfect little family? *barf* 2018-read Trish Drinkwater79

Just delightful. Escapism literature at its best - I needed something light but interesting and this fitted perfectly. I loved the characters, including the dog and the cat and the story flowed beautifully. Sensitive and delightful, perfect for busy times or when you feel the need for something light but lovely. very pleasant read... Chelsea has an unusual job... she is a break up expert, someone you hire to do the deed when you do not want to face the person you want to break up with. When she breaks up with Callum the last thing she expected was to fall in love with him. Kari Southwell58

Loved the characters. The plot was good and solid. Cant wait to read the next one in the series and hope that all the siblings get their own books. 1 Rebecca313 2
