So there are a few authors I read that I call my “go to” authors. "Go-to" is when I have read all my "regular" authors new releases and looking for more to read until the next group of new releases come out. Jillian Eaton is one of those authors. Nothing against not calling her one of my “regular authors” because I really enjoy her books but I ended up reading her books years after some of the other authors I read. This is my 20th book by her. I read a series of 4 books in 2018 and didn't pick her up again until 2021.

I really enjoyed reading Lavinia and Nicholas' story. I thought it was a super cute read. Short but good. I usually say I wish it would have been longer but I feel this story was a perfect novella which I never say because not a fan but I think if this would have been longer it would have been a repeat of the same issue over and over. This was just the right amount of length.2 s Elaine3,554 88

A quick enjoyable story. The married couple were o.k., although the title threw me a bit. Not a mistress, but a wife. Anyhow, it was a good read. 4?jillian-eaton2 s Margaret2,668 20

4 1/2* STARS
The wife of an earl gives him an ultimatum. It's almost Christmas and the perfect time to get away from London and responsibilities. She wants the marriage they had in the beginning. He is torn between his drive for successful business deals and loving his wife. Leaving him maybe the catalyst to starting over. Very short with explicit sex and a husband cutting down a Yule log. I voluntarily read and reviewed a copy of this book gifted by the author.1 Janet Denise Ross752 7

5 STARS

5 STARS for Jillian Eaton's engaging Christmas Novella, A Mistress for Christmas. It is an entertaining heartfelt sensual & the wife is frustrated & has been driven to desperation for companionship plus sex in her marriage.

The Lord Nicholas & Lady Lavinia , Countess of Wilshire & her husband the Earl could not keep their hands off each other & had sex in every & any place they could when first married. However after they returned to London for the Season around the 2nd year the charities of hers & the contracts with business meetings for him kept getting more & more in number & their together time more & more further apart until they didn't even notice when each other came into the room anymore.

This really made Lavinia sad because before they started growing apart she always knew when he entered by tingly feelings. She missed the closeness and she was very lonely even in a home with servants; plus her husband probably was in his study with the &door shut majority of the time. Then she just honestly missed the sex she learned about after marriage but she enjoyed it and it was really good between them.

decides enough, & informs Nicholas that he join her for 7 days before Christmas and spend that time alone or she would leave him. This regency era romantic drama novella is a worthy read for Christmas. Great BLURB.
Some sexual activity involved. RECOMMEND

I found the title and blurb a bit misleading. I actually expected more steam, but instead we got a lot of flowery descriptors and a few extremely condensed sex scenes. It was so quick and vague that I would rather the author hadn't included them at all.

Particularly I didn't that the author would have the hero basically jump the heroines bones mid argument. It didn't come across as if they were both hot and bothered by the argument itself and it leads to them coming together. Instead, if just felt abrupt and interrupted their conversation or argument. So they never actually communicate, or atleast the hero never does. The heroine somehow managed to get what she wanted to say said.

I did the premise though. It was pretty well written and I think the author paced it well and managed to include all the necessary details of how they began their marriage and where it went wrong without drowning us in a history lesson.

Overall I didn't find this book satisfying at all by the end. The epilogue was a mere week later! That's it. I didn't feel either character made any real progress toward fixing what went wrong between them other than understanding what they each did to contribute to their issues. The epilogue definitely didn't help me believe that they magically fixed their issues and were suddenly happy.historical meh multiple-povs ...more KelseyreadsHR180 2

Quick Christmas read

A Mistress for Christmas is a standalone novelette.

Nicholas and Lavinia, the Earl and Countess of Wilshire have been married for five years. Somewhere in that time, they’d lost track of what had attracted them to one another in the beginning and it became easier to live together but experience different lives. Lavinia has had enough and misses spending time with her husband. Will an ultimatum to reconnect at Christmas be enough to salvage their marriage?

I haven’t read this author before but was looking for a short story that I could read in one evening. It was exactly what I was looking for. Book details shows 68 pages but is more around 45 of actual story. I could see this story being longer but felt that the characters were well defined and the connection between them was there. It’s in the busyness of our lives that we don’t realize we’ve neglected the most important person in our lives. This was a nice little reminder to not take our part for granted. There were two on page encounters but were brief and only barely detailed. I enjoyed the epilogue as it shows that it’s the every day little choices we make that add up and make a difference. 4.5 Stars - Second Chance in an existing marriage is my all-time favorite trope and the only thing that would have made this book better was if it would have been longer. A Mistress for Christmas is a delightful historical romance that will warm your heart and spice up your holidays. Jillian Eaton delivers a charming story of a married couple who rediscover their passion and love for each other through a daring and unconventional proposal. Lavinia, the Countess of Wilshire, is determined to seduce her husband, Nicholas, who has been neglecting her for his work. She devises a plan to spend seven days and six nights with him in his study, where they will explore their deepest desires and fantasies. But will Nicholas be able to choose between his business and his wife by Christmas Eve?

This well-written story is fast paced, the banter between Lavinia and Nicholas is humorous with playful innuendos. The love scenes are romantic without being too explicit. A Mistress for Christmas is a perfect read for fans of historical romance who are looking for a light-hearted and festive escape novella that is a standalone and can be easily read in one sitting. Lavinia has it all but does she? A handsome husband, pots of money and charities that keep her busy!
She is lonely she misses her husband who spends so much time on business matters he has a bed in his study!
Nicholas inherited debt so he took his love of numbers and climbed his way out! He met Lavinia and fell in love!
Lavinia gives an ultimatum and leaves until Nicolas can put her first!? But is that possible?
When a snowstorm throws them together can they survive the storm and the aftermath?
I would have d them to build a family because there was definitely enough steam to melt the desktop! But it’s definitely fast paced and very cute! all-the-thrills amazing brazen-heroine ...more KAREN MARTIN370

A wonderful Christmas novella,

I really enjoy this author and have read several of her books. This is a story of a married couple Laconia and Nicholas who seemed to have lost the love they once had. In an attempt to bring them back together, Laconia offers up an ultimatum. I really d this short story, of love second chances and Christmas. Enjoy! Mindy1,545 4

Pretty Good Story!

I enjoyed this one. I d the characters and storyline so much. I was expecting a different story from this but it was still good just the same. Lavinia and Nicholas found what they were looking for. On to the next one.
