At stake is Suetonius Paulinus's reputation. With only 80,000 legionaries, will he destroy Boudica and her horde of 200,000 warriors or will he endure the disgrace in Rome for losing–to a woman? in this horrific historical revolt against Roman injustice. Julius Agricola-Rome's tribune, and Rhianna-Boudica's youngest daughter, become ensnared in the harsh worlds that are determined to destroy each other. Who will survive?

loved it!1 Victoria Brinius701 33

I took Latin in High School and I love to read about Roman history. I could definitely tell that the author knew about the setting of the book. The images were easy to escape to. I really enjoyed the characters and how they interacted together. The chariots, fights and bloodshed are only the beginning. The book ending in a cliffhanger and I can not wait to read more of these characters. Especially Nero, Julius and of course Rhianna. I am giving this book a 4/5. I was given a copy to review, however all opinions are my own.1 Theresa Lorenzo109 4

As someone who is interested in Roman history and the history of the world in general, I was taken in by this book from the first sentence. Ms. Ridgley has given us a very explicitly detailed story of the fight of the Romans to keep and expand the territories they won in battle and those who fought against them to the death to keep their lands.

I very much d the character and glossary areas and the explanation of the different helmets of the Centurions. Not knowing there was a difference in their ranks, I enjoyed knowing there were different ranks and standings.

Getting back to the story I thought it was well written and researched. I am looking forward to what I hope will be the next installment of this series. It is excellent and that is all you can ask for in a book. Lori Byrd610 18

I wasn't really into Roman history...that is until I read this book. I'm sorry to say it kept getting shuffled to the bottom of my pile, until one day, I said, just read it and get it over with. Needless to say, once I started reading, I couldn't put it down. LOL. The 1st night I read over 100 pages and put it down only after falling asleep. So well written and such a great story. So good! Well written and researched. Ms. Ridgley has a well paced mix of descriptions, story, tension and action. I enjoy books with multiple points of view, and this book moves back and forth with rhythm an clarity, allowing the reader to see and feel Roman Britannia and the ensuing revolt and carnage through differing outlooks. Vivid, vital, building to a page turning climax as fast and rocky as an Iceni chariot! Do not despair when you reach the end, at least with kindle version, there are several pages from subsequent books, to lead the reader to another lively read. gj indieBRAG1,637 82
