I really enjoyed this book! There is quite a bit of world building and it made for a slightly slower beginning but I did want to always keep reading to find out what was going to happen. I was totally surprised as to who the true villain was in this story and cannot wait to see how the story continues in books to come. I wish there had been more tension or build up between Deming & Nikita… I feel that was severely lacking. I have an assumption as to what their relationship will be but there were so many times they were referenced as becoming close when they hardly had any interactions at the time. I’m still very happy I read this book and would recommend it. Side note… the COVER IS GORGEOUS!!! I signed up to read this purely on the cover. 4 s Sarah Nolan94 9

This whimsical, lyrical, and beautiful book is an absolute masterpiece!

I could not believe that this was a debut book! I honestly had to stop reading late one night, as I simply didn’t want the story to end and wanted to savor every single moment. I could live in this world forever!

Deming, the heir apparent of the Queendom of Laey, dreams of having a quiet life away from her royal duties, and would be happy to leave the ruling of the queendom to her uncle, who is serving as steward. A mysterious fog encapsulates the queendom, and sets in motion a string of sinister and unsettling events. Deming finds herself searching for answers while in the midst of discovering who she is and wants to be as future queen of Laey. She finds an unly ally in the Prince of Runne, Nikita, who arrives to Laey with his entourage right as the fog descends on the realm. Can Deming trust those closest to her to help save her kingdom?

I was in love with this story the moment my eyes read the first line. I knew I was in for a whimsical, mythical, humorous, lyrical, and utterly captivating treat. From the characters, to the settings, to the depth of political intrigue, mystery, and lore, I was left in awe and wonder all the way from beginning to end. The sensory experience throughout this story is exquisite.

I highly recommend this wonderful fantasy novel!

A wonderful debut novel for this author! I was completely intrigued from Chapter 1 by the unique plot and truly couldn’t put it down!

The world building throughout was amazing. There were many plot twists woven in- some I saw coming and some I didn’t. The character development was strong, however I did find myself wishing for a little more from the relationship between Deming and Nikita. It progressed very quickly and I would have loved to have gotten more interactions between them throughout to understand the bond more fully. With that being said, I absolutely can’t wait to see where the next book takes them!

I really enjoyed the writing style and felt the descriptions were so beautiful throughout! I definitely recommend checking this one out!
