Quinn Lyons, Irish Mafia King set out to get revenge for the death of his brother killed by a mob boss. Quinn made a promise to his dead father that he would make the person responsible for his brother’s death pay. Quinn thinks the way to do that is to kidnap the man’s daughter Aria Byrne.

Aria is engaged to a man that she does not love but that is the way of life with her family. Aria’s father is a mob boss. Aria was enjoying her life at art school but then she was called home to be married.

Deadly Sins is the first book in a new series the Irish Mafia Kings by January Bain. Deadly Sins pulled me into its depths the moment I read the first page and kept me hanging page after page wondering what was going to happen next.

I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough as I enjoyed seeing Aria and Quinn interact with each other. I enjoyed their conversations among other things. Yeah, things got pretty hot between the two on numerous occasions.

Will Quinn get want he wants? Will he get the revenge he is expecting for the death of his brother? Or will what he wants change after meeting Aria?

While I was reading Deadly Sins it kept reminding me of the TV show The Cleaning Lady. I know things are different with the character’s situations but there is just something about Deadly Sins that makes me think about The Cleaning Lady. Maybe it is the relationship between Aria and Quinn or maybe it is just the atmosphere.

Aria is a mafia princess who was ordered home in order to marry someone she did not know, all because her father wanted an alliance that would grow his kingdom. She is a sweet and loving woman, who would help anyone in need. What she is not is a quiet go with the flow person, so when she meets her fiancé on the night of their engagement party, she realizes she may be in for a fate her mother's. Never would she have thought that being kidnapped by a rival of her fathers could have ended any better.

Quinn is the head of his mafia family and he's out to revenge his little brother. A life for a life. He has it all planned and is ready to follow through, but then sees the woman who the party is for and his plan changes. He wants her, and once he kidnaps her and falls for her, all his plans will change and deals will be made.

Deadly Sins is the first book in the Irish Mafia Kings book. I have to say I loved Aria; she is a strong female lead with a heart of gold. Now Quinn on the other hand; he is supposed to be a mafia king and he seems more a teddy bear. Even his threats lack any umph to seem believable. I understand when a man falls in love them tend to become softer, however he never seemed to have much to begin with.

I d the storyline, although it has been done before and much better.  Kat Hall118 6

Quinn Lyons, the Irish Mafia King, wants revenge for the murder of his younger brother. He plans on killing the father of Aria Byrne. Do plans ever go according to the plan? Sometimes you pivot when an opportunity arises. And what a great opportunity when he can kidnap Aria at her engagement party. She looked quite miserable alongside a scumbag from another Mafia family.

Aria was summoned home by her father as he wanted to ally with another Mafia family and she was to marry the son. All Aria wanted to do was paint and stay in Ireland. You cannot disobey her father as he would take his impatience out on other family members. She did not want to marry a man chosen for her. And she did not want to marry who her father had chosen to be her husband. She wanted to be alone in life and paint. But her body was a traitor. It responded to Quinn Lyons. Even though she didn’t want it to, could she let Quinn into her life and still have her painting and a peaceful life?

Quinn finds out the hard way that Aria is not a simpering female. Her intelligence intrigues him, and her body entices him. When he finally realizes that she is the one his heart wants, what is he willing to do to have her in his life? And will she have him?

The first in a new series, Deadly Sins, throws you straight into the thick of it with family feuds, arranged marriages, and a little bit of kidnapping too.
Although a relatively quick read, the author did a great job of highlighting the growing tension, not only between the different families but within them too. Quinn has issues with his cousin Ian, and Aria has issues with her father.
Having found out the truth about Aria's father, Quinn sets out for revenge but soon changes his mind when he sets his sights on Aria, choosing to kidnap her instead. She's nothing what he expected; far from the mafia princess he predicted she would be, she has fire, gumption, and a heart. The verbal sparring between the two was great and soon became more than vicious barbs and moved onto flirty banter with feelings getting involved.
I enjoyed the read; the early chapters focused more on the mafia aspect, and I'd love to explore more of that and the family dynamic in future reads. Curvy Girl Book Nerd (Jen S)1,363 9

Deadly Sins is Book 1 of Irish Mafia Kings series. It's a steamy, OTT, slow-burn, enemies-to-lovers, opposites-attract, forced-proximity, mafia romance. Aria is a young, smart, sassy, and feirce mafia princess with a heart of gold. Quinn is the hunky head of the Irish mafia. He is out to avenge the death of his younger brother by killing Aria's father. Aria is being forced into a mafia marriage, and Quinn decides, last minute, to kidnap her instead at her engagement party. And he is in for a treat. They start as enemies but, of course, real feelings form. This couple had great chemistry and great verbal sparring, turned into flirty banter. We do get a happy ending, but it's an emotional ride to get there with lots of mafia drama. There are triggers for some violence and sexual assault themes. This was my first read by this author, and I enjoyed it.

Independent reviewer for Archaeolibrarian, I was gifted my copy of this book.

I think this is the tamest Mafia book I've ever read and I really enjoyed it!

Quinn goes to kill Aria's father, in revenge for him killing Quinn's youngest brother, but taking Aria becomes an impromptu change of plan. While Aria is saved from one Mafia arranged marriage, she finds it's a case of, out of the frying pan, into the fire with Quinn. Will he let her go, when he gets what he wants from Aria's father? Or will he be her new jailor?

I d this, I d this a LOT.

Aria is headstrong and has her own mind, but she knows her place in her father's life. When he says jump, she asks, how high? Because anything else will get someone else hurt. Quinn is the head on the Lyons Irish Mafia Kings, the eldest Lyons. Getting revenge for his brother's death becomes his only plan, and then he has Aria to contend with. The woman pushes ALL his buttons and then some. Letting her go becomes the least pleasurable thing he has to do, but he does. He just has to hope she will come back to him.

My only niggle with this, I found the romance between Aria and Quinn sort of sprang out of nowhere. Quinn knew she was his, very early, but the romance, the love? That kinda walloped me upside the head, almost 3/4 of the way in. They were fighting, then she was gone.

BUT

A very enjoyable 4 star read.
