Sinopsis

Hell hath no ambition like a demon in politics

Jan had one hell of a year. First he lost his job, then he almost died, and now his parents are kicking him out. The last thing he needs on top of all that are Matt's demon brothers wreaking havoc in Greenvalley.

It's already nearly impossible to find a place to rent when you have no money; it's absolutely hopeless when a magical storm blows through your town, you have to deal with snow-witch squatters, and possession by an ancient evil spirit. But Jan's done being the butt of every demon's joke. He's determined to make a life for himself, monsters be damned.

If there's one thing he's learnt from demons, it's that if you want to get ahead, be prepared to fight for your dues. Or die trying.

Hell Hath no Ambition is the fifth book of the action-packed Ashuan series, continuing the Ashuan Lust trilogy. If you like Buffy's wit and snarky one-liners, the magic of Charmed,...

There is as so much happening in the book with some couples finding new partners or just splitting up. Not to mention getting a deeper insight into Caspar and Balthazar. Are they really evil? Maybe, Maybe not but they definitely have plans for Matt.
There are also some new characters to love and probably rescue. Matt, Fabian, Jan, Samantha, Rachel and Lucille have their hands full as they meet the challenges 1 Perri Corbett23 1 follower

Brilliant !
So much happens in this, the second book of the Ashuan Lust series (or the fifth book if you have been following the Ashuan Greed trilogy). You will come across a murderous cult attacking partygoers, the town invaded by ghosts and a couple of our heroes in the throes of demonic possession! Some of it is Rachel’s fault, and some of it belongs to Balthazar, trying to provoke Matt into returning to Hell. You will also learn more about Matt’s brothers: Balthazar, the seemingly calm, civilized one, and the reason why Caspar hates everything human.
In addition to these potentially fatal adventures, families fall apart, couples split up and new ones are formed with newly introduced (and interesting) characters. Jan is very much at the centre of this story as he makes several life-changing decisions, and even Fabian is braver and less a whiner (hallelujah! he was seriously beginning to annoy me)
Matt and Samantha still have issues, but with Melaney and Balthazar continuing to stir things from the depths of Hell, Matt’s love for the human witch might just put her life in danger…
My advice is to grab this book and devour it; then, sadly, you will have to pine for the next (and last) book in the series, where everything will (or might) be resolved.
As always, Janna Ruth breathes life into her characters, whether they are the heroes, or just the secondary ones. Her books are aimed at YA readers, but they are also a delight for older urban fantasy lovers too.1 Shandi149

Poor Jan has had a heck of a year. Almost killed by a Gorgon, fired from his job, and now his parents are kicking him out. And then of course Matt’s brothers are still trying to kill Matt and everyone around him are just collateral damage. First there is a wind demon, then a snow witch, then ghosts are running rampant around town. It's a lot for anyone to go through, but Jan is determined to get his life back on track.

I absolutely love this series and the world that has been built. As we are so familiar with the main six it was nice to get a little background on both Balthasar and Caspar. Which btw I did not see myself ever having any ounce of sympathy for, but oh boy was I wrong. And the deeper we get into this series I enjoy how full the world is feeling. All the extra history and lore add so much. Sometimes though I forget that all the characters are still teenagers. There are times their actions kinda annoy me, but they are just teenagers. And as I always say with an Ashuan review I love the format of the books into the five separate episodes. Much more consumable for me. Cannot wait for the next book. Oh and keeping an eye on Robert …. Hes suspicious all of a sudden lol.
