King Arthur as a vampire?
I must admit that while the title and cover intrigued me, I wasn't certain what to think about that, but thought to give the book a chance.

I received a free copy of this in exchange for a fair review. I did it on YouTube and will leave it linked below. This review will feature key points I think are important to highlight.

Plot: Well done. I really enjoy the alternative take on Arthur and the mythology around him. It is really interesting and works immensely well. The story is rather simple, at its core it is a revenge story. The execution of the basic revenge story and how it transforms into more of the traditional good man overthrows the evil that is going to take over the world is very good. I also the grimdark grit that's brought on by focusing on such "evil" creatures as vampires. Very good easy to follow story that takes interesting turns.

Characters: Arthur is not a wonderful ideal king incarnate. Arthur is a morally grey man with intricate feelings about his own nature and the things he has had to do. I enjoy his development and the subtle changes he goes through. The ladies, Ceri, Reannon, and Nyres are also interesting. Each is clearly different from the other and have different feelings towards Arthur and don't have problems with each other. Its very well done. I am excited to see how Arthur's relationship with them changes and grows when Guinevere joins in the mix. The secondary characters introduced are also interesting.

World-Building: Very good! It is clear that inspiration was taken from Arthurian Legend and other European Folklore but it has enough of a twist that its different and fresh. The demi-god creatures are interesting and the magic is well realized.

Fan Service: Good the smutty scenes were good, exciting but classy enough. I enjoyed the way it clearly meant something to the characters, it wasn't just to get the reader to enjoy themselves. Good stuff.

Extremely Enjoyable

As with his other books, Jamie Hawke wrote another that was hard to put down until I finished it. The fantasy, and other adult aspects of the book, is great. For those of us who relish reading about the old fables get to really enjoy Camelot with a different twist. SaKen 342
