Having read many of this author’s works, I found this to be a totally new direction in her writing – science fiction in space. It begins with intense action, violence and intrigue. Nia is a doctor as a member of the CORE faction. Her station gets overrun by the Tellusians, the other warring faction, and she is taken prisoner by Mace. Mace was her patient and she was trying to save him and discovered he was a Tellusian. Nia is kept by Mace and put to work in the Tellusian medical facility. Mace knows he shouldn’t have captured her and, once he did, he should have turned her over with other captives in the common area to live and work. Somehow he just couldn’t do that. Eventually, besides being her ward in charge of her, he begins to develop emotions for her although as a warrior he’s not really sure what emotions are. Nia spends much time plotting how to escape and return to CORE but also begins to realize other feelings toward Mace. There are the “good guys” and the “bad guys” and they’re not necessarily who you might believe they are. This is an intensely action-packed novel and the first in the Blueshift series by McDonald. Fantastic Sci-Fi Romance!

Wow… this was a fantastic book, and I enjoyed reading it tremendously. Nia, a triage doctor on the Elara Five Medical Station, is taken hostage by the man she had just saved the life of. Unfortunately, Mace is a Tellusian which is the enemy. When Mace initially took her, he had every intention to let her go until his people started blowing up the ship, so taking her along with him saved her life.

Once back on his space center, he has to invoke the “old laws” to keep her safe… and close to him. Nia is the daughter of two very influential CORE parents and his people don’t take too kindly to them. Initially, they fight cats and dogs, but over time, Nia starts seeing a different side to Mace and they end up falling for each other.

There is a traitor on the Orion space center, and they are working with CORE to take them down. Nia and Mace have to end up working together to save his people.

Awesome story plot. I was on the edge of my seat and I couldn't even put it down. It was a good book and it was a fantastic sci-fi action packed of drama. Elara and Mace was going to be star crossed lover. She was saving other and he was a killer. Will they fall in love with each other and saved their world. Their chemistry and physical attraction was mind blowing of suspense.

A future in space when the human race still can’t get along. Two sides with differing philosophies at war, each believing they are right. A tale of one choice and the direct impact on two lives, the characters are at times frustrating, the story sometimes troubling but ultimately satisfying.
