I enjoyed the period feel of the story even if I don’t think Rake really describes Byron. The writing in this at times was very poetic, which I really enjoyed. I am excited to read what Anthony and Rosa got up to. 2 s Whit3,226 39

First, this cover is absolutely gorgeous!

However, this historical romance needed 50 more pages, for an additional in-depth plot as well as character development. For example, Sir Byron was NOT a rake, but a bonafide romantic gentleman! A serendipitous meeting brings two people together who were set on the same path without even realizing it. Lady Annabelle has gumption and fortitude and despite being the oldest daughter, has kept her family together in a bid to survive their ever encroaching poverty. Lord Byron squashed any emotional responses he had after a tragedy but seeing the woman who is sharing the same hired carriage as he is, turns him inside out so that he has to revise his stance on life. A night in a lonely cottage after an accident, makes him realize that there is a future with the possibility of love, and when he discovers that Annabelle has been journeying to the same destination, Byron can no longer deny the power of love at first sight. DNF after 7 pages - even in these few pages the writing feels very confused. Very info dumpy and not what you'd expect from a 60 page novella (where you want to hook the reader from the very beginning, given the little time you have). Karmen O164 4

Unfortunately, this title simply wasn't working out for me. There are many typos, fragmented sentences, and punctual errors. Interesting story that is heavy on the insta-lust but needs an editor. Nene1,680 23
