Framed in Florida is the twenty-first book in Hope Callaghan’s awesome Garden Girls Cozy Mystery Series, and a great addition to this series. I love Ms. Callaghan’s writing style; there’s always a strong message of the value of friendship and family while incorporating intriguing mysteries and without the inclusion of graphic violence, adult language, or gratuitous sex. The writing flows smoothly, the three-dimensional characters are well developed and affable. There are red herrings, twists and turns, and lots going on; all which help hold the reader’s interest in this steadily paced book. I highly recommend this book to readers who enjoy well-crafted cozy mysteries.

Gloria Rutherford-Kennedy and her close-knit group of friends, known as the Garden Girls, are looking forward to a fun-filled weeklong girl’s only vacation in Florida and entrusted Ruth with making all the arrangements. Andrea, whose baby will be born soon, isn’t able to join them. Gloria, Lucy, Margaret, Dot, Rose, and Eleanor, a friend they invited to join them, have no idea what Ruth’s planned for them. Not surprisingly, the excitement begins before they can even leave Michigan! At the airport, Rose, who’s known for her potions, sets off the security alarms and TSA agents escort her to a screening room. Once her potions are tested for explosives and drugs, she’s cleared and everyone makes a mad dash for the boarding line. All the girls, except Eleanor, who has a bucket list she wants to make a dent in, are hoping for a luxurious and relaxing vacation, but their hopes are dashed when they learn they’ll be spending the first part of their vacation on a houseboat on the St. Johns River. They have a confrontation with Larry Molson over a table at a restaurant, and then Ruth accidentally dings his houseboat with theirs. Early the next morning, Gloria and Ruth discover a person floating face down next to their houseboat. Unfortunately, the body belongs to Larry Molson and there’s no question that he was murdered, since his hands are tied behind his back. The person in charge of the investigation, Detective Flanders, doesn’t verbally accuse Ruth, but she’s convinced she’s his prime suspect. The Garden Girls and Eleanor, who’s excited to be included in one of their investigations, quickly don their sleuthing hats and find themselves knee deep in more than just murky river water and alligators.

Another mystery ...another hit!!!!

I love the Garden Girls...they always thrill and enchant me. And for awhile I'm on an exciting adventure and holiday.1 Sue596 18

Gloria and the garden girls are embarking on a vacation to Florida. Ruth has taken charge of planning the whole trip and has been keeping it top secret. They arrive at their destination but are a little surprised to find a houseboat instead of a beachfront property. What else has Ruth planned for the group?

The girls decide to make do with what has been planned, but that definitely did not include finding a dead body in the water. And just as luck would have it, the body belongs to a local that Ruth had an altercation with the day before. Now being prime suspect number one, the garden girls are once again thrown into solving a murder mystery.

If you are looking for lots of laughs, madcap adventure, and a mystery to solve, then follow along as these feisty senior ladies investigate a whodunit Florida style.

The Garden Club girls are on a long awaited vacation in Florida.
They put their faith in Ruth to make all the details and have little knowledge of what she has planned.
The girls consist of Gloria Rutherford, Lucy Carlson, Dot Jenkins, Margaret Hansen, and Ruth Carpenter. Along on this trip are friends Eleanor and Rose.
All are expecting lazy days on the beach, but Ruth has planned otherwise.
On a rented houseboat, of course a body shows up floating face down in the River.
Trouble follows the women wherever they go.
Hope Callaghan writes the sweetest christian mysteries, and this one will make you think, laugh, and cry. Book twenty one in this series and I never get tired of them and always eagerly await the next installment. wayne peters308 3

Review of this book.

This book was very exciting. A dead body, gators and another murder mystery. Who could ask for anything better? This mystery was more involved than some of the other books. Very well thought out plot and the clues were subtle. The story was different in that the girls were in Florida, on vacation, on a houseboat! All the characters in the book were brought into the story and background was provided about them. Continuity was flawless as usual. The author has come into her own, as far as fabulous cozy mystery writing goes. She is the best! Keep up the incredible mystery writing. EmbGram201

Florida adventure turns deadly

The Garden Girls are off on their Florida adventures, a trip which is supposed to be a relaxing vacation. First mistake is to put the planning into Ruth's hands! Added into the mix is their quirky friend Eleanor, who has a bucket list if things to check off.
There is always a dead body to discover, and this time Ruth looks the prime suspect. With teamwork eventually the true perps are revealed, and the girls are free to leave Florida and return to Michigan. We look forward to reading their forthcoming mysteries in the near future. Jill Schroeder36

The Garden Girls

I'm actually reviewing the series. I had read other books by the author and decided to try the Garden Girls Mysteries. I read the entire series in two weeks...it would have been sooner but I do have to do some other things. I love the Garden Girls! I love the good clean wholesome stories that are Christian based. I love that the characters are the same and you feel you get to know them. There are always twists in the stories that keep you guessing, and no two stories are a. I can't wait for the next book to come out. I hope it's soon! Robyn893 2

The boathouse

The girls vacation is planned by Ruth, the first 3 days they are to stay on a houseboat. Liz joins them the second day but they've already discovered a body in the water next to their boat with his hands tapped behind his back. It's the same guy they had a fight with in the restaurant and then Ruth accidentally scrapped his boat pulling out of the marina. Of course the police think Ruth is involved. They have a lot to do to figure this one out. Love the characters especially th addition of Eleanor, great story keeps you guessing, A lot of suspects. Renate Deutsche Oma1,168

Garden Girls great Florida adventure and murder mystery is filled with lots of suspects and misadventures. The twist and turn plot kept this avid reader guessing "Who dun it." The Garden Girls teasing discourse, fun Florida tidbits (some fictional, others factual), spooky mansions with ghosts, enormous gators, smelly bait and fishing are woven together into a humorous tale. Even though this is book 21 - The Garden Girls can be read as stand alone in any order. Scrumptious Fish Recipe included.cozy-mystery Denota153 2

Another great Garden Girls adventure!

I always enjoy Hope Callaghan's cozy mysteries! This one takes place in Florida as the girls go on a "surprise" trip planned by Ruth. While getting used to life on a houseboat, they discover a man they had a brief run-in with at the marina dead and, of course they have to investigate! Another madcap adventure ensures. You'll be sure to enjoy this group of senior ladies and their latest mystery! Helen Podlevsky16

Four stats

Good entertainment for a grandma, reading about other Grandmas playing super sleuths. It is a cute series with no crude language written by a Christian. There is no putting down the police by the characters or the author making them out to be bad. Thank you for your work. Judy Roberts88

Could not put it down

I am reading this entire series. This episode of the continuing trials of the ladies was so interesting, I read it in one day. The characters are so believable that you feel you are with them on their latest escapade. Looking forward to the next chapter in their lives. Veronica Knack148

I wanna go!

Gloria's and the girls' latest adventure made me want to tag along! As they enjoy their girls trip and solve yet another murder mystery, I can't help but wish for such a great band of sisters who have each other's backs and have fun together. Hopefully, their next adventure will be out soon! Gloria Markus439 3

Florida adventure

As always Gloria and the girls are in the thick of things and lo and behold they found a dead man floating near the houseboat they had rented. Unfortunately they had a minor run in worth the dead guy making them seem guilty of killing him. Great book cannot wait for the next one. Jeanne Brewer264 1 follower

Not your typical Florida vacation

When the girls head to Florida without even knowing what their vacation will entail, they (of course) find themselves on a houseboat and in the middle of a mystery that requires their very special talents. Recommended for those who won't nitpick about realistic logistics of traveling a river in a houseboat. Margaret SimpSon63 1 follower

Girls Trip in Florida

I d this book because it included Eleanor. Eleanor is a pistol and I get a kick out of her and her crazy antics. The other Garden Girls are fun also, but I was a little bit disappointed with Rose. She should have more backbone and courage if she wants to be a part of the Garden Girls.
