When Loved Runs Hot and Cold

I enjoyed this clean story but found it confusing in parts. Sally and Leonard were forced into a compromising situation and had to marry. They agreed on a marriage of convenience but Leonard seemed to fluctuate between being friendly and being neglectful. Poor Sally did not know how to deal with this and did not understand why he was so changeable. Leonard was worried that he would follow his father's cruel ways. As they slowly find a way to discuss the situation there are secrets revealed, a confession of assault and murder. It all leads to Leonard and Sally realising their feelings for each other. There were a number of typing errors but the annoying thing was that the Extended Epilogue was about a totally different couple, Henrietta and Samuel. I would have d to know what happened to Leonard and Sally. Also, on page 7 there is a book cover picture of Beneath the Duke's Orders and then the same book cover appears before the Extended Epilogue. Perhaps Henrietta and Samuel are in that book. Sally Blackmore was trying to get her dress on for her mother's birthday ball and was not having any luck. When her sister Rosie arrived and offered to help. She got her dressed fixed and then went down to see if her sister Joanna had arrived. Her mother informed her she was in the library. Sally immediately went to the library where she found Leonard Harding, the Duke of Chester. They heard Lady Millstone calling for Sally and her sister Joanna. When Sally went to leave the library distract to her dress opened in the front of her dress started falling towards the ground. She caught the dress and the Duke rushed to help her which she agreed to. As he was trying to fix the dress Lady Millstone walked in and caught them and immediately thought the worst. So begins the trials and tribulations of the marriage it was never meant to be. Ms. Hamilton has written a very good book with lots of twists and turns in it. I highly recommend that you read it... Another well written story by this author. full of love, drama, romance, murder, twists, mystery, parent's issues and the Ton. Leonard is back and already the rumors of society are at his heels. Sally is caught in a position that will ruin her but is offered marriage to save her. Leonard thinks he has the same traits that his father had, not wanting to expose anyone to them. Sally wants a true marriage with love and children but Leonard wants only to be there a short time. As time goes on for them they both want to be together and happy. Has some action along with the mystery before they get to their happily ever after. Holds your attention and a real page turner, so curl up and enjoy. Would recommend to everyone.

Well written and edited. The main characters were victims of the regency times and the restrictive, arrogant members of the ton. She wanted love and children, he was afraid that the evil that was his father was also in him. Their forced marriage was engineered by the h's mother and it took months for her to earn forgiveness. The H was a migrain; he was warm, then cold, friendly then distant...never the same.

I had difficulties envisioning the dress that caused the scandal for the heroine, but a gossiper didn’t wait for an explanation and so a marriage of convenience took place. The hero was very troubled about turning out his evil father so blew hot and cold for his wife. Only when she started giving him the cold shoulder, did he realize how much that could hurt. There is a villain, a murder mystery, and an unknown assailant that all add drama to the story. There were some editing error, but not enough to loose the enjoyment of the read. Pamela Barbee389 2

Wonderful characters in a story with scandal, dysfunctional families, friendship, loyalty, deception, murder, misunderstandings, misconceptions and of course, love. This story will draw you in and kepp you turning the pages till the end. There were a few places the names got mixed up, but otherwise a wonderful story. Shelby Scott886 4

The prequel chapter puzzled me because I failed to see the connection to the rest of the book in regard to Wallflowers. I d the way the story started out with Sally and Leonard, but as the story line progressed I was bored with Leonard's insecurities that were drawn out and emphasized repeatedly. I wasn't impressed with the extended epilogue either. I've read better books from this author. Brenda Moser8,611 113

This is a well written book with strong characters in Sally and Leonard. The author does a great job developing the story and pulled me in with the drama, mystery, murder and twists. Add in the romance and love and she delivers another terrific story I enjoyed reading.

Exciting read!

A young lady who finds herself in amarrage to a loveless duke strives to make their relationship more than just an arrangement. He has scars that he wishes to protect her from and keeps distant. I enjoyed this regency romance very much. It was a great night's reading.
