I received a Arc copy for my honest review this is my first time reading this author series and I find she has great storytelling skills. I enjoy reading a book where I am not left wondering why someone acts the way they do.
These are continuing books so they don’t end at each book. That’s the only reason I can’t give it more then 4.5 stars
The characters are easy to , there is some comedy. The little girl Lily is a cutie
I really enjoyed this book and really look forward to reading it next ones.
I highly recommend this series5 s Bruce Sawhill3

I received an advance review copy of this book.

The characters who were introduced in the Prequel finally get to meet in Book 1. We are transported to the quirky and beautiful mountain town of Eureka Springs, Arkansas as the setting for the story. It's not exactly a "meet cute," more a "meet interesting" or "meet conflicted." When they meet, it's not love at first sight, but there is definitely an awareness that arouses curiosity as to how they are going to find their way into each other's hearts. It won't be a straight path.

Jahi and Rose are older adults with lives and histories, and we begin to learn more about them and their contexts of families and friends. They've been bounced around some by life, but the reader feels that they are warm and good people working hard to recover from loss and setbacks. One wants them to be happy but can they open up enough to let joy in?.

A surprising aspect of Book 1 is the humor. This is not a rom-com, so it is not so expected, but there are moments of laugh-out-loud humor hidden in the story chocolate chips in a muffin. It's a literary Easter egg hunt. It helps one feel that things will work out even when it doesn't seem obvious at all how that will happen, as complicated histories in Rose and Jami's life are laid bare in the course of storytelling.

It turns out that "simple country folk" aren't.

In short, it's a page-turner with surprising depth and humor.

I received an advance review copy from the author. The first installment of Gracie Gable's romance novel "Where The Old Roses Grow" represents a particularly auspicious feat for an exceptionally talented author. In many ways, it is a prose analogue of the verismo operas, which were the source of the arias that one of the protagonists, Rose Aberdeen, who dreamed of becoming an operatic diva, sang in her youth in Los Angeles, and who now lives in Eureka Springs, Arkansas. a Verismo opera, it centers around the budding relationship between two ordinary folk, Rose, who is now an elementary school teacher and Jahi Adams, who is a firefighter/Paramedic and is set in the rather unly venue of a small town in Northwest Arkansas. Yet they each possess a great emotional and intellectual depth, which one might not expect from ordinary folk in the heartland. The primary voice in adjacent chapters alternates between her two protagonists as they experience life's vicissitudes and forge a bond. More importantly, she creates compelling, yet endearing characters--characters for whom you will root, develop a bond with and care for as you are drawn into her narrative.2 s Laura28 4
