This was a weird novel. It starts with a woman asking the main character to look after her cat. But the cat isn't a normal cat - it's a robot with evolving AI. Then there's a murder. The main character tries to solve the murder by talking to people and gathering clues. The cat texts information to her through her smart watch. It's OK, but the book has a lot of flaws.
First, about halfway through the book, the typos start to become blindingly obvious and they get to the point of stopping the reader from enjoying the book. The Cat Called - It's Murder needed a good edit.
Second, the conclusion of the book actually introduces a whole bunch of new information - the woman who gave the cat to our main character isn't who she said she was, even her name ws a lie. she and her husband, who probably isn't her husband, were working on a super secret project and uncovered some sort of scheme - which lead to the murder. There a whole thriller-plot that's used to resolve the case. And the murderer is only in the last 50 pages or so of the book.
In short the plot makes no sense. It's two books were smashed together.
I honestly think this novel should have started earlier, if there had been a chapter or two explaining who the real main characters were (the scientist/spies) and who was after them, the entire story would have flowed better. An interesting mystery with a different type of character involved. A very enjoyable read. Fast moving, short chapters (my favorite thing in a book) and no cliffhanger ending. Highly recommended. Karin4,417 42
