I’m not the typical reader of this book as it is aimed at young teens and, sadly, I’m not, however the base premise of a connection between animals and humans appealed to me.
The authors knowledge and obvious love of animals made the scenes involving team members and their animal partners come to life. I found myself invested in how the main character, Justin and his Coati Mundi, Coco, would persevere and rise above the challenges facing them.
Along with the animal connection the book highlights many situations faced by young people today including issues at school, bullying. the importance of friendships, first romance and broken/dysfunctional families.
I look forward to Book Two.
