I was offered this as an ARC and since I read Gabrielle's books before I was interested. I struggled to be pulled in by it.

The idea was good with the characters opposite. He's a billionaire lawyer who has the world at his feet. She's a writer working for a non-profit group helping artists. She has a thing against the rich. Usually, it's the guy character that has a bit of a chip on their shoulder and is kind of a jerk, but Nathan is pretty level-headed and is willing to be adaptable. Sophie on the other hand is a bit of a mess, but more than that she treats him poorly.

It would seem that I'm okay with a guy being a jerk and not the girl but I'm really not. I've read others where the girl is more than in charge and good at pointing her man in his place but I found Sophie just annoying.

I didn't hate this book or anything but for me, it was just ok. It had a lot of potential it just didn't hit those highs.

If you've read and enjoyed Gabrielle's work, you'll enjoy this book I'm sure.

Nathan is in the small town of Cold Springs helping out on a case for an artist through the Creator's Rights firm. He might be one of New York's top lawyers but he has followed in his father's footsteps with giving back.

Sophie wishes to one day have her own book published and enjoys working with the Creator's Rights firm helping those artists who need help when those in power try to take advantage. She knows people Nathan Wright are the reasons they can help but the rich and privileged have never sat well with her.

After his meeting, Nathan is prepared to head back to New York for Christmas but when the storm rolling in arrives early he ends up trapped at the offices with the woman who seems to dis him.

Sophie was supposed to be heading to Paris for Christmas with her family but now she's stuck in her office for who knows how long with the hot-shot lawyer from New York.

It turns out to not be so bad and despite their differences, they are able to enjoy some of their time together. While they go their separate ways, Nathan can't seem to get her out of his head and when he finds out she's in town he sets out to track her down.
'It wasn't me to think this way, or consider being with a woman who was far too scared to let the light of day see us together.'

Every time Nathan gets close to Sophie, she pushes him away but no matter how many times she pushes he chases again. Sophie might find though that if he keeps pushing Nathan away he might stop coming back.
'She grinned under the dim light. "I think I found a new hobby... toying with your emotions."

What a beautifully written love story of opposites, Sophie a strong independent woman who helps those less fortunate and Nathan one sexy billionaire who finds himself taken with Sophie in the most unexpected situation over the Christmas Holiday. Sophie is carefree and takes their situation in stride and Nathan finds himself letting his stiff ways relaxing. These two have one powerful connection that scares Sophie and she leaves Nathan on more than once occasion. Nathan is confused and doesn’t want to be put through that again trying to move on. It’s funny how Sophie knows just when to make her stand and boy are there fireworks! Nathan and Sophie are different as night and day. He is a wealthy lawyer, and she is a woman that fights justice in her day-to-day life. She doesn't the wealthy and when she and Nathan have a run in the sparks ignites. She has insecurities that gets in the way of her feelings for Nathan that causes her to run on several occasions. Will her insecurities cause her to lose a good man.

The author has given us a story that pulls us into the lives of Sophie and Nathan. The story keeps us turning the pages with drama, angst, insecurities and steam. Sophie has issues but does not share them with anyone while Nathan has no idea whether he is coming or going with her.
