Tobias Sutton has not been the most popular man in this series. He has been rude, arrogant, and downright spiteful. However, when faced with the consequences of his past, he is humbled and becomes a very different man. Content to enjoy the gift life has given him, Tobias has no intention of making a play for the new schoolmistress. Unfairly blamed for circumstances outside of her control, Alvira thinks she has finally found a place she can call home. However, the Mercantile owner puts on her back up and if it wasn't for the fact that he carries the goods she requires, she would never put a foot in his store. This is an emotional story, one that speaks of second chances and redemption, but also of the cruelty that can be dished out by unhappy people. I enjoyed this more mature love story, of two souls finding their niche and the chance of a new beginning. I received a copy of this well-written romance as a gift and this is my honest and voluntary review. 2 s Glenda ParkerAuthor 14 books21

My review today is on the Western Romance, Substitute Montana Bride. This is book thirteen in the series Bear Grass Springs. I'm one of Ramona's biggest fans. It seems I've waited forever for the next book; so I was thrilled to get this one. I must tell you it didn't disappoint. It's well written and absolutely delightful. I know you will love it.

Alvira Damon comes to Bear Grass Spring to become a teacher. She has been abused in the past and is determined she won't be again. As she enters the community she is overwhelmed by the welcome she receives. Unfortunately, the hotelier is determined to make her his. One man stands out to her but is an irritation.

Tobias Sutton owns the best store in town. He has a colorful past that tends to cause problems for him at times. Tobias is attracted to the new school teacher even though she seems to have no interest in him. When he finally seems to be getting closer his past rises up and threatens their future.

A delightful journey as God has a plan for these two, for hope and a future. God has a plan for you too, a plan for peace and not for destruction even in this time of turmoil. Give Him your heart and watch Him work in your life. SKM136 1 follower

This book was wonderful. For those of us who have been blessed by reading the previous books in this series, you will remember that in the beginning, Tobias was horrid. I couldn't imagine wanting to read his book but Ramona has managed, book by book, to redeem him to where you not only want his story, but are wishing and hoping for him to find good once in a lifetime love.

Alvira has perfected a cold demeanor and a shield to protect herself from the belief that she killed the man she loved.

Forgiveness is the key to their love. They forgive themselves, each other, and then seek the forgiveness of the town and those they love. The MacKinnon family is the heart of the town and once they claim you as family, you are and that's that. The MacKinnon family accepts Tobias and welcomes him as family, but it's up to Tobias and Alvira to accept their welcome.

Love, family, forgiveness, redemption; these are what Bear Grass Springs is about. When you read these books you are transported back in time to see the lives and loves of the residents of Bear Grass Springs and I cannot recommend this series or Substitute Montana Bride enough. Joyce687 8

Tobias Sutton is a changed man. He has been forgiven of his past mistakes but will those seeking vengeance keep his future happiness in jeopardy. Alvira Damon, a school teacher, has come to town but seems to have a chip on her shoulder. In the last town she lived in, the people she thought were her friends and would stand beside her have totally turned into her enemy after the man she loved died in a blizzard. It was his family and they wanted him to marry the neighbor girl to make their ranch more profitable. She stayed for several years in that town and when this opportunity came in Bear Grass Springs, she took it. Will she be able to trust again and accept that when the MacKinnon’s say you are part of their family, nothing changes that. Phyllis Rundell998 9

The author has penned a sweet and heartwarming story, yet one full of human frailties including: past mistakes, secrets, misplaced blame. irritating personalities, intrigue, vulnerability, and romance. This is Tobias Sutton and Alvira Damon's story with excellent character development. Tobias is a man with many past mistakes but he has overcame them and turned over a new leaf. Alvira is a prim and proper schoolteacher who has time for nothing but her students. When the two of them interact, the sparks of dissension and perhaps a bit of romance in the making happen. Will they be able to put aside their differences of the past and present and form a relationship that becomes a HEA? Be sure to read this fun and appealing story. I know you will enjoy it as much as I did. Elda1,203 6

Such gooey goodness!
This is what I would call a sappy love story. All gooey goodness but not without its trials and tribulations. But even those were pretty mild in comparison with other historical romance novels. So many doubts kept creeping into the minds of Alvira and Tobias it was almost pitiful(?). For such a smart teacher Alvira would do stupid stuff. I chalk (pun intended-;)) it up to not having much experience in the ways of a small town, but she does catch on eventually. And Tobias, you have to admit, finally redeems himself. A very well written book in the usual style of Ramona Flightner and very enjoyable. Diane Major51 2
