Annette McKinnon is moving from New York to Miami for a new job at a nightclub as its social media manager. Her best friend's husband, Keith, gave her the opportunity. While in Miami, she hopes to go a little wild and finally, at age twenty-eight, lose her virginity. She hopes someday to be as lucky as her BFF Julie and find her own Keith. A girl can dream, can't she? She just hopes that in Miami she won't continue living her usual sad and isolated life. 

Before she starts working there, she decides to check out Midnight Heat. She's in a dress she normally wouldn't wear because it fits her curvy body a glove and shows more cleavage than she's normally comfortable showing. Her real reason for wearing it is that she's hoping to be a femme fatale, at least for one night. But still, she should be safe there. However, she didn't plan on having some girl slop a red drink all over her white dress. While trying to clean up as best as she can in the restroom, she hears two other women talking about a man in the VIP section. A man, according to the women, shouldn't be missed. A man who, when he locks eyes with her, is enough to send her scurrying out of the club. 

Maxwell Lewis has been celibate for ten years since the death of his soulmate. In that time, he's not seen any woman who interests him enough to make him break his vow. Until tonight...

While trying to shed the persona of her old life and embrace her new future in Miami, Annette decided that the first item of business was to get rid of that pesky V-card that she had been carrying around for way too long. Now enters Maxwell in all this cool, tattooed glory. One spilled drink, an impromptu dinner date, and a quick car ride home starts them on their fast paced and steamy love affair. All the while not knowing how their lives will be turned upside down once they both go to work on Monday! Rule #1 - don't sleep with the boss. Rule #2 - if you do happen to sleep with the boss, make sure you don't give him a fake name during your hot and heavy weekend romance.
Due to some trauma from the past, Maxwell is unwilling to open himself up to the possibility of loving someone which creates some problems for their relationship. Ultimately though, love finds a way to bring these two together again. Grinning Cat1,402 59
