Screams filled the air at the conclusion of a successful Fourth of July Event. A woman had just found the body of a town councilman, Bubba Rowland. That day Bubba had several conflicts with various individuals. Liv McKay felt he fixed the Miss Dixie Beauty Pageant so his niece won. Others at the event felt the same way. Liv's Mother announces her engagement to Earl and he becomes the main suspect in the murder. Liv begins to plan her Mother's Wedding. The story moves steadily between Liv and Di looking for evidence to clear Earl and life in Dixie. I appreciated that Liv and Di did not do anything foolish to put themselves in danger. I the information on party planning. The baby shower that announced the sex of the baby is outstanding. Recipes and party tips are included. I highly recommend this book and series.

Meet Liv McKay, who lives in Dixie, Tennessee. She stays busy running her party planning business, when she isn't falling over dead bodies in strange places. Her hard work and planning for the town's Fourth of July celebration is coming to an end when screams pierce the night. Going to check the problem at the line of porta potties, Liv finds it isn't a snake or some other varmint but the body of councilman Bubba Rowland with his pants around his ankles and a big red stain on his chest. It's not Liv's first dead body or even second or third one but this time she is staying out of the investigation! That doesn't last long when her Mother's fiance becomes a prime suspect and Live dives in to clear his name. These characters are wonderfully real and ooze Southern Charm with every breath. The setting and background makes for some great murder plots with very unique twists! Southern Living and murder with manners make this a must read series. This is the third book in the series and you will find yourself laughing out loud while reading them. Each story has the right amount of background so you can enjoy each story, no matter what order you read them in.

“One Fete in the Grave” earn 5/5 Excellent Sleuthing Partnerships!

I am new to Vickie Fee’s series, so this book was the perfect introduction: event planning a Fourth of July celebration with murder, ok that’s a great place to start. Who knew porta-potties were more than awkward and dangerous, but deadly? I didn’t feel that I was out-of-the-loop with the back story and character connections having not read the previous two books, although I am excited to do so. The story was still exciting, humorous, and kept me engaged, and I found Vickie’s characters, my favorite Di Souther, to be well developed and fun, not juvenile. The BFF status between Liv and Di is reminiscent of Lucy and Ethel, loyal, but they do get into trouble, and the relationship Liv has with her husband and the sometimes quirky of Mama and Earl are delightful. The southern setting of Dixie, Tennessee and details surrounding event planning play out in the background along with tips at the back of the book for your own Fourth of July Block Party (Invites, food with a bonus recipe for Southern Potato Salad, beverages, desserts, kids’ activities, entertainment, fireworks, and photos) and a Fabulous Baby Shower (decorations, brunch menu, bonus recipe for Cheesy Grits, games, party favors, bonus fender-reveal ideas). Martha Stewart watch out!

A delightful read featuring fun, able characters and an appealing setting. Loaded with humor and down-home touches. Can't wait to visit Dixie again!5 s Kirsty ??924 51

Normally I love quirky crime books with amateur detectives ala Miss Marple and Agatha Raisin. I also have a love of these books set in various parts of America I've never visited that always have recipes or scrapbooking techniques at the back after the story has ended. This one however didn't grab me they usually do.

I think mostly because of the set up. This is the 3rd in the series and it feels the author didn't feel a need to introduce any characters. But for me as a new reader I found myself unable to attach or care about anyone because of it.

Shady stereotypical counsellor is murdered. No set up so couldn't care less. Main sleuth Liv McKay is described as the one who always trips over the bodies. Does she? How would I know as she's not been introduced either as the murder happens in the first chapter. I would have d a bit more build up and introduction. Not everyone is lucky enough to catch an author as they release their first books in a series.

It does improve as it goes along. Liv has a good job and a sweet husband but what does he do in that bathroom all the time?? Some men have sheds, it seems Larry Joe s to plumb away the hours. They appear to have a good stable relationship where he puts up with the sleuthing which I d. In fact I enjoyed most of the characters once we got going. I probably will add the first two books to my ever growing TBR pile.

It's not a bad book, and beginnings aside it's a quick read, a beach read for those me that don't read many pure romance books. It made for a nice interlude in-between a couple of darker books I have to read

This story certainly set off fireworks for me in the form of laughter. I love the humor, the good times best friends Liv and Di have together, the family relationships, and the great cast of supporting characters that work together to make the story so entertaining. Dead bodies do have a way of winding up in party planner Liv McKay's vicinity. Dixie, Tennessee seems a rather quiet town, but it sure reminds me of a little Peyton Place. There are scandals to be revealed and so many under-the-table dealings happening that someone was bound to blow sky high. Rumor hints that relatives of the Miss Dixie Beauty Pageant contestants were flagrante with some behind the scenes shenanigans. Then, somebody offed Bubba Rowland, a town councilman, while he was 'indisposed' at the 4th of July picnic! I laughed out loud many times at all the antics in this airy and delightful Southern cozy. And...what IS Larry, Liv's hubby, doing upstairs?! This is a very entertaining story that you won't want to miss. Fourth of July party tips and recipes included.

ONE FETE IN THE GRAVE is a cozy festival of mystery, mayhem, and fun!

In this third installment of Fee’s series, ONE FETE IN THE GRAVE started off with one of, if not the best murder scenes I have read. In keeping with cozy guidelines, it’s not gory, but that doesn’t mean the image won’t stick in your head for a while. Oh yeah, you’ll see this one every time the victim’s name is mentioned.

Author Fee kept a steady stream of intrigue going, while also keeping the story fun and light, and everything moving along with a great flow. I became lost in her world of Dixie, TN. Seriously, more than half way through this book, I finally came up for air and food. I was so engrossed in the story, I lost all track time!

Since reading book one, DEATH CRASHES THE PARTY, I have loved everything about the Liv and Di in Dixie Mysteries. Author Vickie Fee has created wonderfully fun and richly written southern characters that always make me smile. She also has a real feel for what makes a mystery cunning and exciting. ONE FETE IN THE GRAVE is no different. This is the strongest, and best of the series by far. As a matter of fact, I think Ms. Fee has set a new bar for herself.

Oh! You have got to check out the back of the book when you’ve finished the story. There are pages of tips on throwing a great Fourth of July part, and for a baby shower! And these tips also come with recipe ideas!

I love this series! Vickie Fee has created such a unique premise, and her plot is fresh and original. You're not going to believe where the victim is found! Liv is an event planner, and her best friend, Di, is a mail carrier with a walking route. They live in the small town of Dixie, Tennessee. Hence: Liv and Di in Dixie. Liv has organized the town's Fourth of July celebration and, during the fireworks, no one notices the shotgun blast. Fast paced, but not too heavy on the suspense; Southern in a charming, not stereotypical way; and packed with tips and recipes for making your own events something special.
I received an ARC from the author in exchange for a fair and honest review.4 s Bree495 44

Another hit from Vickie, I love that I feel her books can have themes specific to a season but are universal to the year. Her tips at the end draw me to wanting a party. The overall mystery is a great testament to why this author is a success, she gives the breath of life to her stories and makes them pop for the reader!

Book received from NetGalley.

A cute quick little mystery that takes place on a hot Fourth of July in Tennessee. The book focuses on a party planner that ends up caught up in a murder mystery. I d it but, I knew who committed the crime just a little place halfway in the book. Also, I have to admit I'm getting tired of all the murders that keep taking place in the cozy mystery genre, there are many other crimes that can be the focus of a book. so I think that made me it a bit less. However, it was a very quick read and I do suggest reading the series if you're into cozies. first-read mystery-read read-in-20173 s RO G'ma1,028 38

Great Cozy Series
One Fete in the Grave is the third book in Vickie Fee’s Liv and Di in Dixie Mystery series. The storyline is well plotted and the characters well developed. The story moved along at a steady pace, with quirky characters, a sprinkling of humor, and an interesting mystery to solve with no shortage of potential suspects. The mystery had enough clues and red herrings to keep me guessing. I’m looking forward to reading more books in this series.

Liv McKay and her husband, Larry Joe, live in the small southern town of Dixie, Tennessee. Liv is the owner of a successful party planning business, Liv 4 Fun, and Larry Joe works with his father at McKay's Trucking Company. Liv has been working hard as the events coordinator for Dixie’s annual daylong Fourth of July festival, Miss Dixie Beauty Pageant, baking competition, and fireworks display. Other than a few upsets, things went well … until after the impressive fireworks display and Bubba Rowland, a town councilman, was found shot in the back in a porta potty. A lot of evidence is pointing to Liv’s mother’s fiancé, Earl Daniels, as the prime suspect. Sheriff Eulyse “Dave” Davidson and Deputy Ted Horton are on the case but Liv feels they aren’t following other leads or looking into other suspects, so she teams up with her best friend, Di Souther, to clear Earl’s name and find the killer and in the process, secrets are revealed.

This is the third book in this series and I have enjoyed them all. I this series because the characters are just terrific. The friendship between Liv and Di has me coming back for more. These two can get into more trouble doing the simplest thing than any other characters I can think of. Readers will find humor with Liv's Mama and her wedding plans. The mystery is solid and I did not guess the culprit until the reveal. If you haven't read this series I would suggest you give it a try. It is full of wonderful characters, great southern charm and mysteries that will keep the reader engaged from the beginning until a very satisfying ending.

I loved Vickie Fee's ONe Fete in the Grave. This is book three and fab!
The Liv and Di in Dixie series and it is very well done. I have d this series from the start. Enjoying the great friendship of Liv and Di as well as their family, friends and small town life, this is a true cozy mystery lovers series. In the third book we find that Liv and her husband are still very much living in an ongoing renovation, and still with only one bathroom up and working, it's July, it's hot and there is so much going on.
When a town councilman is found dead and Liv's mother boyfriend is arrested for murder, Liv and Di find themselves in the middle of yet another case. I the relationships in this series so much. I that Di is a postal worker who lives in a trailer, that Liv and her husband are both busy working people. That Liv and her sister fight sisters do and that life in Dixie is never boring. Vickie has done a great job with One Fete in the Grave and I was so delighted by the ending, I hope you will be too.2 s Rondi OlsonAuthor 1 book97

Do I read this series for the parties, the mysteries, or the witty southern humor? I'm not sure, it's all a lot of clever fun.

Highly recommended for readers of cozy mysteries or southern fiction.2 s Mark Baker2,166 165

When the fireworks show ends, party planning Liv McKay thinks her day organizing her town’s Fourth of July festival is over. Unfortunately, someone finds the body of councilman Bubba Rowland. Despite being on the council, Bubba had his enemies, and one of them was Earl, her mother’s new fiance. Can Liv help her mother by clearing Earl’s name?

This book starts with a bang – of fireworks, but it isn’t too long before we find Bubba’s body. Unfortunately, the book does still have some pacing issues as Liv’s party planning business slows things down. I did find one sub-plot lots of fun, however. The mystery does have some good suspects and twists before we reach the logical climax. Liv’s family and friends, including best friend Di, are as charming as ever. The suspects work, although we don’t get to know them as well as we might in some mysteries. This is a fun cozy for a relaxing summer read or any time of the year.

A little disappointed with the ending. Once again a murderer is revealed not by the sleuth, but by the murderer themselves. I my mysteries being solved Jessica Fletcher style. I want the sleuth to explain step by step how the murder was done and how they figured it out. Having the murderer just pop out of nowhere and reveal their identity without much work from the sleuth seems lazy to me. To me it feels the author was , "Well I don't know how to explain this one, I'll just have so and so come out and point a gun at Mrs. Sleuth." Endings these seem a cop-out.

This is why I love the Needlecraft Mystery series by Monica Ferris. Besty is Jessica Fletcher in that she SOLVES THE MYSTERY. cozy-mysteries1 Daniele1,053 36

Author Vickie Fee hits all the right notes with this third entry in her Liv and Di in Dixie cozy mystery series. Comfortable characters oozing with Southern charm, a tightly knit small town community, and the murder of a not-so-likable town councilman come together to make a satisfying read. Its Fourth of July setting makes it a good poolside read.

ONE FETE IS THE GRAVE is my first adventure with Liv and Di, but it was relatively easy to pick up the main characters’ back stories without reading the two previous books. Bubba Rowland’s death takes place right away so there is no buildup to his demise. I know there are differing opinions between killing off a character too soon and waiting too long to do so, but here I wish there had been a little more to introduce us to Bubba so that I could decide right away if I was sad or glad that he met an untimely end. The circumstances of his death are certainly original and memorable. Since Liv’s mother’s new fiancé Earl is deemed the prime suspect almost immediately, it makes perfect sense that Liv wants to investigate and clear her future step-father’s name. There are a few suspects, and each of their introductions is sprinkled throughout the book. Their motives are all valid. I vacillated back and forth between a couple of the suspects, but as soon as one key bit of information was revealed, I correctly guessed the killer’s identity. This relatively early revelation did not hinder my enjoyment of the rest of the story.

The recurring characters are likable and come across as real people. There are a few that are stereotypical Southern folks, but I know some people just them in real life. Stereotypes are, after all, rooted in truth. I greatly appreciate that there is no love triangle in this series. It is refreshing for our protagonist to be in a drama free marriage. Speaking of drama, Liv’s mother drove me a little crazy with her grandiose ways. I really want to know what exactly Larry Joe is doing with the bathroom renovation. Though the mystery is solid, it is Liv and Di’s friendship that will keep me coming back for more,

I enjoyed ONE FETE IN THE GRAVE and recommend it to any fan of the cozy mystery genre.

"One Fete in the Grave" is the newest instalment in the Liv & Di in Dixie cozy mystery series, and brings readers back to the small Southern town of Dixie, Tennessee.

After being hired as the event coordinator for the town's Fourth of July party, Liv is finally getting a chance to enjoy the holiday with Larry Joe. Unfortunately, her holiday is ruined when the body of councilman Budda Rowland is discovered. Liv vows to stay away from the investigation this time- until her Mama's new fiance, Earl Daniels, is arrested for Bubba's murder. After earning their reputation in the previous two cases, Liv and Di begin their own investigation in to the murder, with the intention of clearing Earl's name.

As always, the characters are my favourite part of this series. I find them all charming, and love the way that they interact with Liv and each other. In the first book of this series, I felt the author really gave us a sense of Liv and Di's relationship, and in the second I felt readers were given a greater glimpe in to Liv and Larry Joe's relationship. While both relationships are front and centre in this book as well, the author really uses this book to show us more of Liv and Mama's relationship. As in previous books, this was well done and all of the characters work together perfectly.

While Dixie is again portrayed vividly, the only thing lacking in this book compared to the previous two was the lack of Liv's events. While Liv held a baby shower early on and worked towards planning Mama's wedding, her parties are always great filler in between her and Di's investigations, and I hope we get to see another one in the next book.

Overall, I would definitely recommend this book to other readers, particularly anyone who enjoys the cozy mystery genre. It appears that the next book is out in March, and I'll definitely be sure to continue with the series.20171 Sarah Dykes148 4

Vicki Fee writes a home run of a cozy in her third installment of the Liv and Di in Dixie series, One Fete in the Grave.

This novel starts with a bang as councilman Bubba Rowland is found dead at the town’s July 4th celebrations. Liv’s mother’s fiancé, Earl, quickly becomes a suspect, and Liv and her super sleuth friend, Di, must work to help clear Earl’s name, all while planning parties and delivering the mail.

Great read – while the mystery is well paced and plotted, I really enjoyed the solid dash of realism that Fee offers. Liv’s husband has been working on bathroom renovations for what seems eons, Di lives in a trailer park and works as a mail carrier, and they are constantly juggling family members and commitments. I found this realism refreshing. There is a lot of authentic southern charm in this novel, from the sweet tea to chocolate cakes.

This was my first read in this series, and it certainly won’t be my last, and I am eager to recommend this series to other friends.

Thank you to Netgalley and Kensington publishing for an ARC.

Book 3 in the series.

I am really enjoying this series, with it's southern charm, simmering secrets, and eccentric townspeople. It's a fun series, with party planner Liv up to her eyeballs in wedding plans for her newly engaged mother as well as investigating a murder where the number one suspect just happens to be the Groom to be.

I laughed out loud many times while I was reading this and it was nice to see Di have more of a role in this book. It is Liv and Di in Dixie, after all.

Looking forward to the next book in the series.

This was the first book I've read in this series and it was quite a lot of fun. Liv and Di are an engaging duo and the cast of characters around them make for a lot of entertainment alongside the murder investigation. Liv's party planning business is a great idea and she seems really quite competent - which isn't always a given in cozy crime stories! I had a few niggles - about how the murder was carried out mainly - but I'd be interested to read more in this series.netgalley1 Rebecca2,417 11

This continues to be a fairly entertaining series, though I feel that the story gets bogged down with so many random details (so much time is spent talking about what they are eating for dinner) that it can drag a little bit through the middle as they slowly progress in their investigation. I enjoy Liv and her circle, and the characters are what will probably bring me back to this series.

Liv McKay is a party planner in the small town of Dixie, Tennessee. She's very pleased with the way her Fourth of July celebration has been going - everyone seems to be having a good time, and enjoying the day. Well, almost everyone - town councilman Bubba Rowland has just been found dead in a porta-potty, shot through the rear of the receptacle, and with so many people attending the event, it seems Sheriff Dave Davidson has his work cut out for him trying to find a killer.

Liv McKay has a habit of finding bodies. Well, not really, but they sure have a habit of finding her, and this time is no different. While she didn't technically find the body of Bubba Rowland, she's thick in the middle of it, because the day after his murder, Liv's mother Virginia announces her engagement to Earl Daniels, who's been Bubba's business rival and a thorn in his side for years. When it's discovered that Bubba was killed with Earl's shotgun, which was in his locked truck, it looks as if the sheriff has the crime locked up as well. But with Liv's Mama pleading for her help to free Earl, Liv enlists the aid of her best friend Di Souther, and while the Fourth ended with a bigger bang than was what originally intended, their plan to unearth Bubba's real killer could send them both permanently underground if they're not careful...

What a delightful mystery to unravel. It appears that it's already solved, with no access to the murder weapon by anyone except Earl, and he's so forthcoming about that information that he's practically putting himself in the electric chair. But Liv believes he's innocent, and isn't about to have her mother's heart broken, so once again she enlists the help of her best friend Di to find out who got his gun and framed him for the crime.

It could have been a number of people who were attending the celebration, but sorting through the suspects isn't going to be easy, since there were so many there. And to top things off, her mama's now decided she wants Liv to plan her over-the-top wedding, complete with swans and a gondola. It also doesn't help that her sister Emma is dead-set against the wedding, and her father-in-law is acting strange to everyone. So will Liv be able to set Earl free or will Emma get her way and the wedding will be called off due to imprisonment?

What a delightful read this turned out to be. While I have enjoyed the series from the beginning, I believe this one is my favorite. The characters are rich and lively, their growth apparent as the series progresses. The interaction between them is realistic, and with just enough brass on Liv's part to be convincing without being exaggerated.

When we find out who the murderer is (because we know it just can't be Earl), it's believable and deftly done; the ending is satisfying and even a hint of the next book is given. Ms. Fee is a talented writer and in this book she serves up a real slice of southern charm, wit, and humor. I look forward to the next in the series. Party planner Liv McKay has outdone herself this time. She’s put together an unforgettable Fourth of July celebration for the town of Dixie, Tennessee—including breathtaking fireworks and an exciting Miss Dixie Beauty Pageant. Maybe a little too exciting.

As the party is winding down, Liv’s sense of triumph fizzles when the body of town councilman Bubba Rowland is discovered on the festival grounds. And now the prime suspect in his murder is Liv’s mother’s fiancé, Earl, who had a flare-up recently with Bubba. To clear Earl’s name, Liv and her best friend Di burst into action to smoke out the real killer before another life is extinguished . . .

Liv McKay and the other residents of Dixie, Tennessee are a diversified group. Filled with quirky characters. A place that you will enjoy visiting often. This is the fourth book in the series, but can be read out of order with little difficulty. Though I still reading the series from the beginning to watch as the relationships evolve and grow. The characters are well developed and the plot is thought out and flows smoothly and quickly. Readers will enjoy the relaxing afternoon spent reading.
