Pierced is definitely NOT what I was expecting when I went into the ARC, and I was delighted to read a different spin on the Kindred books that I've come to love and expect. There were parts that I was not the biggest fan of only due to personal preferences in character dynamics, but Ms. Evangeline wrote another fantastic book that fit well with the Kindred Universe and foreshadowed the (hopefully) next story as well.

I think Pierced is a well written tale of intrigue, suspense, sexual tension, and action that is a fantastic addition to the Kindred-verse. Well done!3 s Auj1,445 109

Normally, author newsletters don't influence me in any way. But Evangeline's one today for the upcoming Brides of the Kindred #30 made me remember how I hadn't read Book 28 or 29 and had some catching up to do. I had a whole list of books to read (I actually made a list in my Keep Notes), but I knew as soon as I bought this that that preordained list would be forgotten.

I ADORED the beginning. I loved how it started off with just an ordinary day in Sky'lar's life (oh, to be a Mammalian in a Reptilian world, LOL) until it wasn't. Torin was immediately attracted to her, but she disd him at first, which made for an interesting romance development and dynamic. Sky'lar was described as plus-size, but I never saw her as so. EA s to make all her heroines plus-size, but it didn't fit the heroine in this one. I had formed my conception of her before I read that she was an Elite, so that didn't help.

It was obvious from the prologue who the villain (serial killer) was, but that didn't take away my enjoyment of the story.

Evangeline Anderson is one of my favorite authors, and I'll read anything she writes. This book reminded me of how much I love the Kindred. I wish I could live in their world and go to these planets, or if not that, at least have a TV show for the book series.

Yes, I read at least one Kindred book by her (the one where they are stepsiblings) where the girl has to ass-fuck the guy and he feels emasculated and has to deal with his feelings, and another one where they had to have sex to neutralize poison, but I still enjoyed it!

I'm looking forward to reading my next book by her! This book actually made me want to reread Shared by the Monstrum , Mirabella's book. When someone said how all members of the Sacred Seven were killed except one, I was omg, are they talking about Mirabella? (I felt drawn to read Shared by the Monstrum earlier this year for some reason, even though I try not to read the series out of order.)

I d this book so much that I read it in one night. Yes, I also attended a function that made me uncomfortable, so I was very antisocial and hid and read this book on my Kindle :) the only reason I had a good time there was because of this book.badass-heroine books-that-made-me-use-my-v plus-sized-there-is-more-to-love ...more2 s Leanne ~ Tales From The Heart2,094 21

It's funny how when I start one of this author's books my kindle says 6hrs and I groan. Then it learns I read fast and it was probably half that as I whizzed through this wonderful story.
Certainly different in character actions this time as we revisit planets and people we know. Agent Sky'lar is dominant due to the world she was raised in and Kindred Torin was taken aback with the way things went.
A killer is on the loose, we know who it is but they don't. Nor do they realise the dark evil that it is.
Sky's in grave danger, will he be able to save her.

Happy, happy, happy. My favorite Kindred couple. Both strong, bold Kindred. Plenty of spicy heat flying between them. This is Evangeline writing at her best. I can only beg and grovel for more! Absolutely love our strong female Kindred Sky’lar. She sexy and bold and never flighty! How can a Giant Kindred not be bowled over by her?! I’ve been begging for this couple for yrs and Evangeline didn’t let me down. Now I’m begging her for more!.

Captivating read with two Kindred working alongside each other, ripping read
This was a simply wonderful read and from someone that has read many, many titles by this wonderful author I loved the fact that there were two Kindred working alongside each other in their assignment, dangerous and quite possibly life threatening.
Special Agent Sky’lar is a Pitch Blood Kindred that has never before seen another of her kind so when she comes to work at the Peace Keeper Station she is surprised to find that she is expected to work alongside a male warrior which is something completely alien to her.
Commander Torin works for the Kindred Elite and he is renowned for his success rate however, the entity that has been killing Kindred Ambassadors is an unknown entity and he is willing to do whatever is required to capture this killer.
Sky is now the focal point for the killer and without a doubt if these Kindred should fail to capture their elusive murderer it will most definitely mean the end for Sky as this killer does not make mistakes. These two Kindred must work together to achieve their goal and without a doubt they are both totally focused on their assignment and will not fail…
I assure you that you will love every moment of this book it is simply a fantastic read.

Sky had no emotions & boundaries should be respected

The scion murder mystery plot and bits of action were great. Evangeline’s always good for some creative and interesting world building and wacky situations and characters. But I really did not Sky, which is disappointing as I was excited for a female kindred character.

Torin is a sexy, competent, gentle, giant whose feelings for Sky developed well. But Sky had zero emotions! As a rare female kindred who grew up, and lives, in a society that is so different from her biological predispositions, I was expecting her to have new experiences and grow with Torin, the first of her own kind she has met. Unfortunately, Sky is completely stuck in her ways and doesn’t even consider Torin’s feelings, boundaries, or culture.

The balancing and sharing of dominance in different situations, which I have grown to expect from Kindreds was missing. Sky thinks and acts more a shallow controlling male character treating a female poorly and while I thought it was very interesting to examine how I felt reading that, I still closed the book feeling icky in the end.

Torin was forced into a situation by Sky that he was not ok with, before or after it happened, and Sky gaslights him because she doesn’t think it’s a big deal in her culture and therefore he should just get over it. Swapping traditional gender roles does NOT make this ok, nor does the fact that “he d it”. Kate Walker112

I the idea of Misstress Mirbella having a own Kindred warrior to protect. I look forward to reading
