This is a cute, quirky, fun cozy. It’s a light quick read and ghosts are involved so it’s a bit of a paranormal story as well. Great story, fun characters and a good mystery to solve. All in all a good read.

Breakfast in Dead is the first story in this spin-off series from Eryn Scott’s excellent Pebble Cove Teahouse series. Callie Norris, the adoptive sister of Rosemary, is the new owner of the Gull’s Nest Bed & Breakfast. Although she loves her new family, she’s been avoiding Rosemary & Asher due to feeling jealous of their closeness. She wants to tell her boyfriend Owen about her ghost seeing abilities but hasn’t been able to find a way. And now he’s been acting strangely. When a particularly unpleasant woman is found dead at the B&B and a ghost claiming to be her friend shows up, Callie scrambles to figure out what’s going on. Will she lose her boyfriend and her business at the same time?

While it’s recommended to be familiar with the Pebble Cove Teahouse series, the book can be enjoyed on its own. Callie is a likable character and the supporting characters in Pebble Cove are charming and quirky. Un Rosemary, Callie isn’t interested in solving mysteries, but gets pulled in nonetheless. The ghost, Olivia, presents a second mystery as she exhibits characteristics that differ from the other ghosts in the series. The main mystery wraps up nicely and Callie and Owen’s resolution is heartwarming. Looking forward to more with the Pebble Beach crew.

Pebble Cove had a special place in my heart now, and I am so happy to be back with another spinoff! I love these characters and their relationships. This time we get to read from Callie’s perspective, which is a nice chance of pace.

Callie is running the Gull’s Nest Bed and Breakfast when one of her guests turns up dead in her room. Between that and Owen acting distant, Callie has a lot to figure out. Who killed her guest, and is Owen going to break up with her??

I really enjoyed this novella and I’m looking forward to reading the rest! If you’re unfamiliar with the Pebble Cove Mysteries you COULD start here, but I highly recommend reading the previous series too. You might get some spoilers!.

Breakfast in Dead (Pebble Cove Bed-and-Breakfast Mysteries Book 1) is another great novella by Eryn Scott!

I really loved this novella. It is a fast read that is hard to put down. I would recommend reading the Pebble Cove series first. This book has mystery, twists, and a rollercoaster of emotions. I can't wait to read more books from this author! 1 Brenda3,069 37

A Ghostly Witness

The ghost in this case didn't know she had witnessed the main clue in the murder investigation. It was important. I borrowed this book from Kindle Unlimited. This in no way affects my opinion of this book.1 Pam1,327

This is a short novella of 102 pages. It was a quick and delightful read. I recognized some of the characters from her Pebble cove series.

Amazon synopsis:
Callie Norris is the proud new owner of the Gull’s Nest Bed-and-Breakfast in the picturesque fishing village of Pebble Cove. She’s got everything she’s always dreamed of: a found family who supports her, a job she loves, and a boyfriend she’s crazy about. Well, she’s been avoiding her family, maintaining the reputation of one of the town’s long-standing businesses is proving to be harder than she thought, and her boyfriend is acting distant. But things can’t be sunshine and rainbows all the time, right?

Callie’s optimism runs out when she brings her most difficult guest breakfast in bed, only to find her dead in her room. Can Callie solve the mystery of the woman’s death before the B-and-B’s reputation is completely ruined?cozy-mystery Delphia Von Heeder 1,181 24

Breakfast in Dead is book 1 in Pebble Cove Bed-and-Breakfast Mystery by Eryn Scott. I believe that the author perfectly gave the foundation for the series while writing an excellent cozy mystery. Callie is taking over the family B and B. She is excited and everything is perfect until a dead body is found in bed. Ms Scott introduces characters and seamlessly gives background and relationships. Boyfriend Owen, a police officer, is acting really strange. Throw in a ghost and I couldn't read fast enough! Eryn Scott writes great mysteries and her books always are interesting. I am looking forward to reading book 2.

Breakfast in Dead is the first novella back in Pebble Cove, and I really d getting Callie's story. She has the ability to see and communicate with ghosts, which comes in handy when one of the guests at her B&B dies under mysterious circumstances.

The story is short but sweet with a mystery that perfectly fits within the novella structure. Callie was curious and observant, and I can see how she'd be a great investigator if she chooses to solve any more mysteries in Pebble Cove in the future. It was nice, too, getting to see Rosemary and Asher from the original series and what they're up to now without feeling they took over the entire story.

Thank you to the author for providing an ARC for an honest review.2024 arcs Ulli Zaiss179 2

This is a short mystery set in Pebble Cove with medium Callie (adopted sister of Rosemary) as the protagonist. If you haven't read the Pebble Cove series you will probably not enjoy it as much as if you have.
I enjoyed reading this book and I d "meeting" the inhabitants of Pebble Cove again. However I prefered the books of original series. In this book the murder investigation is not the main element of the book as it features more on the relationship between Callie and her family (and a ghost).
All in all it was an entertaining short read.

Breakfast in Dead is the first book in the Pebble Cove Bed and Breakfast series by Eryn Scott.

This novella is a great follow-up/spin off to the author's Tea House Series with the same fun characters in Pebble Cove.

Callie, who I love is running the family's bed and breakfast.
Unfortunately, she finds a dead body.

Callie's boyfriend Owen is up to something. There is also a ghost in the story, which was a really fun addition.

The mystery was great, and I love all the characters.

Looking forward to the next book in this fun mini-mystery series.2 s Andi1,860

BREAKFAST IN DEAD was a novella to introduce the main character, Callie, who runs a bed and breakfast in the adorable town of Pebble Cove. When she discovers a dead guest in her inn, she resolves to use her talent at speaking with ghosts to help solve the mystery.

The problem was, the writing, plot, and characters all felt a bit flat. Even the ghost wasn’t very interesting. I also didn’t the author’s attempt to create tension at the end of each chapters.

I’ll probably read the next one, but overall, I feel this series is weaker than the MURDER AT THE MORRISEY series. kindle-unlimited Vanessa Sylvia68

I enjoyed this story so much. Eryn Scott's Breakfast in Dead is book 1 of Pebble Cove Bed-and-Breakfast Mysteries. This is a standalone story of Callie, who can see the dead and s to solve murder mysteries in her spare time. She owns a bed and breakfast inn, where someone dies, and it is up to her to solve the mystery so she can reopen her business.

This is a quick read with a ghost, a murdered guest and a lot of heart. It is the start to what should be a fun cozy mystery series. This novella can be read as a standalone.

Clever Cozy Fun

A new story line for Pebble Cove. I love the town and how close the families and friends are. I feel as if I know them and can almost hear the waves hit the shore. A clever mystery with a happy ending. Debbie Borthwick393 5

I've loved all of the Pebble Cove cozy mysteries (my favourite of Ms. Scott's) and I'm thrilled this series in the same place is out. It was wonderful to see familiar characters and of course a ghost. This is promising to be another fabulous series and I'm looking forward to the next one. Monica986

Loved returning to Pebble Cove and familiar characters. Olivia was an interesting ghost to meet. Sarah Racioppi51
