“Rift Jumpers: Faster Than Light” is a short (29 minutes) story described as a prequel to “the world of the Rift Jumpers, the pioneers of interstellar space.” Published on Kindle in April of 2016, further stories about the Rift Jumpers aren’t being published faster-than-light, unfortunately.

This is a fun story that reminds us that smart women are sexy…especially when narrated with terrific high energy by Kristin James!! Happily, it looks Kristin has narrated 80 books for Audible, several of which are sci-fi or fantasy books. Unhappily, it looks “Rift Jumpers” may be the only of her narrated books featuring lesbians. Still, I love her voice and will explore further!

Ahh…I got distracted….sorry!

In “Rift Jumpers” we have an entertaining tale of brave brainy adventuresome scientists who tease us with their pairing offs during their long mission to advance humanity to being an interstellar species. It’s fun and upbeat with plenty of “explanations” for all the tech wizardry. So if you always wished that “Star Trek”’s Zefram Cochrane was a woman….get this book!

Actually, even if you haven’t….please get this book to encourage Erik to follow through on his promise for more adventures of the Rift Jumpers!!!!

4.5* for “Rift Jumpers”. Rounded up because it was lots of fun, and because I really d the cover art!11 s Todd Oliver689 9

Good prequel that leaves you wanting more! Sci-fi story set in space with a little female romance. Honestly, I'm waiting for Erik to do an erotic sci-fi! lol Looking forward to the rest of this series.1 Dave Stone1,174 58

The audio book is 30 min long
not as much a short story as a long prologue that just ends.1 Adam Klatka59

So I really quite enjoyed the overall ideas but I was quite overwhelmed with all the technical jargon. this was far too in-depth technologically and I felt I needed a dictionary to keep up. I was able to understand the core concept of faster-than-light travel though and could certainly appreciate the historical significance in the story.

My favorite part was getting the low-down on the crew. Piecemeal crews are some of my favorite things in science fiction and this seemed a good team from the little we got in this short story.kindle River GheuensAuthor 2 books1 follower

It's a quick read, about 46 minutes for me. I had a few paragraphs to reread to understand what was going on, and even then I was confused on a few points. I really look forward to the first novel in this series.

Okay. I reread it. It is very technical. Erik has crammed quite a bit into a short story, for that is what it is. The characters are fun and there is an interesting dynamic to the crew. There are many great one liners wrote into the book as the expose too communicates with the ship.

Roger, smart ass comments.

If you have read Eriks' other works, this may turn into a great series too. kindle1 Me87

Really enjoyed this. Looking forward to it being expanded. Now my only problem is deciding which book I hope Erik works on next, there are so many I'm waiting to read!lesbian-fantasy1 Jennifer Reaves547 2
