She and her best friend, Celeste, share the same dream and aspire to become Squires so that their dreams could be realized. After being passed by in the first choosing when she had been fifteen, both she and Celeste are chosen by knights the following year.

The threat of an army of marauders calling themselves the Horde, under a man called the Reaper. casts a shadow upon their training over the years, until things come to a head and Wexbury answers the call for help from the realm of York... the Reaper is at the gates.

Awesome!

This was excellent story. So much emotion and feeling right from the start. Exciting, sweet and full of adventure as we get to see the young Verna, Celeste and Kristoff emerge from the background. See them grow and become everything we’ve come to love and enjoy n the Techromancy scrolls. 4 s Lynn124 2

The story of Lady Verna!

Always a great time when we can visit the land of Sparo! Come experience where the legend of The Lightbringer began and the amazing friendship of Verna and Celeste. 2 s L E643 1 follower

Although not what I though, I am enjoying getting to know the back stories for all the characters of the main book series. Verna is and amazing character and a key protagonist in my opinion. Looking forward to the next book.2 s Rian Domingo19 2

A great addition

I gotta say when I finished the last book in the main series I was filled with this ache that is hard to explain. I had gotten attached to these characters I followed them for years. I often laid in bed with my eyes closed picturing how the events would go about. I cried and laughed. I created art. I thought I couldn’t be more attached... but I was wrong. Seeing the side of The Blade of Wexbury. Her struggles, her anxieties, her pain. I feel it made it more real. Almost a physical thing you can touch. I’m rambling but that’s how I felt reading this. Give it a read I’m sure you’ll feel it too 1 monica.b.czuba432 4

Another excellent read

Another excellent story. I have really loved reading this book that gives us a back story to some of my favorite characters. I loved seeing Verna as a young inspiring knight. Can’t wait to read the next story.1 Jon M.102

The start of a new Erik Schubach series is always wonderful.

Verna is such a great character in the Technomancy Scrolls. Learning more about her and how she got her start is so much fun. And all the other side characters from that universe, I forsee many books in this series. 1 Jennifer Reaves547 2

"Read" via Audible. a great prequel to the Techromancy Scrolls series. The story of Verna and Celeste as squires and the igniting of the Light-bringer. Brenda McGinnis brought a great voice to the characters. Now I have another great story to add to one of my favorite series.1 J Miller34

A prequel worthy of praise

A small (in comparison to the Techromancy Series) story sharing events that happened BEFORE the first book in the series. Well-rounded and sometimes rushed, this story was quite possibly the BEST prequel I’ve ever had the pleasure of reading. Hidden elements were sprinkled throughout this book and fans of the series will be all the happier for them. Highly recommended as well as the Techromancy Series.1 Dave Stone1,178 59
