Book two in this series and I fell in to it from page one, we are back in Azalea Bay with Chloe and her wonderful family and friends, her cannabis café Baked by Chloe has opened and it is a huge success, Chloe is working hard to keep up with demand and the annual surfing competition is starting, it is an exciting time until, one of the competitors is found dead.

Aaron Gill is a very good friend of Ethan another competitor, who is the brother of one of Chloe’s friends Matt, Aaron has been struggling with personal matters but is a strong contender for the competition but when Ethan, Matt and Chloe find him in his hotel room with a note and a bottle of tablets everyone is devastated but Ethan knows he did not take his own life and soon Chloe is doing what she does best and that is investigating but will she put herself in danger again?

The clues are adding up but the police are convinced that it was suicide and Chloe and Ethan know different and when a young woman is attacked things heat up and Chloe puts herself in danger will they tie up the clues and find the killer before the surf competition is over and everyone leaves town?

This is such a fabulous story fast paced and filled with awesome characters who join in with Chloe to unearth the killer, of course the food in the café is so yummy and we learn a lot about legal cannabis use and how it helps so many people. I do highly recommend this one to any cosy mystery lover and I am eagerly awaiting more trips to Azalea Bay with Chloe, Grandma Rose, Aunt Dawn, Jake and Antonio.

Got this arc from netgalley.

I love that Cozy mysteries have a lot of different and sometimes unique settings, vibes and places. Haven't read any Cozy set in a cannabis cafe, as I hadn't read the first in the series. It had the common feel of genre and was interesting reading about surfing and cannabis. It touches on some difficult topics such as suicide and drugging with drinks. But I felt it didn't go to much into it.18 s Linden1,687 1 follower

Chloe has just opened a cannabis cafe in the small coastal California town of Azalea Bay. The town is hosting a surfing competition, and everyone is shocked when one of the competitors is found dead. Was it suicide, as the police claim, or murder, as Chloe believes? Of course she feels compelled to investigate, and makes some questionable decisions regarding her safety along the way. There are no shortage of suspects since the deceased had some issues with money and girlfriends. I enjoyed reading about the cannabis cafe, including the interesting recipes at the end. Dollycas's Thoughts

It is time for the annual summer Azalea Bay Pro Challenger Surf Competition and Chloe's Cannabis Café, Baked by Chloe is ready for the masses of surfers and their . This is huge for her new business.

Then fan favorite Aaron Gill is found dead of an apparent suicide. People believe the pressure of the sport and his performance in the competition pushed him to take his own life but his best friend Ethan Wilson doesn't believe it for a minute and begs Chloe to do some sleuthing and she can't refuse. She soon agrees with Ethan when she finds plenty of people who had the motive to be sure Aaron Gill had ridden his last wave.

I loved the first book in this series, A Half-Baked Murder, and couldn't wait to read this one.

Ms. George has created strong characters. Chloe is smart and fun. I love that she and her Aunt Dawn run the cafe together. Dawn's current hobby is dog dancing. The lady always cracks me up. Chloe's Grandma Rose is a breast cancer survivor me so I identify with her easily and was happy to see her life moving in a positive direction. Chloe's newfound friends, Cal, Ben, Archie, Erica, and Matt, often get together to play Dungeons and Dragons and have welcomed Chloe into their group. Jake is still around but the relationship he has with Chloe is complicated. I enjoy the way these characters continue to develop throughout this story.

Matt's brother Ethan is a surfer and his best friend was the deceased Aaron Gill. He along with Matt and Chloe found him dead in his hotel room with a note in his hand. I will admit I read the synopsis and knew suicide would be mentioned in the story but had hoped it would be a fleeting moment and the death would be classified as a homicide much sooner. The police did not even look at any other evidence so it was up to Chloe and the others to prove it wasn't which carried it much further into the story. As a mother who lost an adult son to suicide many observances about Aaron and his behaviors and stressors hit my heart a sledgehammer forcing me to put the book down to strengthen my heart and to skim certain sections. That being said I knew he was murdered and I had to know whodunit so I focused on the clues, I had a culprit in my sights, and was happy that in the end, I was right. The reveal was tense but the takedown was great.

I find the theme of a cannabis café fresh and new. Ms. George takes the opportunity for Chloe to explain the way cannabis is used clearly for its medicinal benefits and the relief it can provide. Chloe also explains how she prepares the cannabis to be used in her recipes. Three recipes are included after the mystery. I wish I had a Sparkling Canna Gria to get me through the tough times while reading this story.

A High Tide Murder is a well-plotted and well-written mystery with great characters that are engaging and entertaining. I am excited for this series to continue to see if the ending foreshadows what Chloe is going to face next.

This is the second book in this series written by Emily George. While I have not read the first book, I feel as though I have learned enough about the characters and the POV’s past to not need to read the first…..although now I am looking forward to reading it.

Chloe Barnes has opened up a new bakery. But this is not just any bakery. It is a cannabis ingredient cafe called Baked by Chloe. After Chloe went through some rough times in her life she decided that she would return to her home town, Azalea Bay California. Something big is underway and the waves in the ocean have brought surfers to town. The Azelea Bay pro surf competition has brought a few surfers to town wanting to win the big prize. Aaron Gill, the fan favorite and one to watch is no longer doing well enough to keep in first place due to issues that have been plaguing him for some time. Aaron was ultimately found dead and it was ruled a suicide. People that knew Aaron, his best friend Ethan Wilson, knew that he would never think about suicide. No matter what he was going through. Ethan came to Chloe and asked if she would help investigate his death. Chloe starts right away and what she finds out is enough to turn the ruling of suicide to something much different, Homicide. Chloe delves in even further and finds out that there are people that wanted him dead. Could this be related to the surfing competition? Can Chloe find out the truth and give his family the comfort of knowing that he did not take his own life?

This is a very well written mystery that will keep you entertained from page one until the last page. The characters are so well developed, flawed, likable, and Chloe is definitely one to reckon with. With her kick ass persona to the way she builds up her life from what she sees as the lowest she has been to starting her cafe and enjoying everything, it was very hard not to root for her. The author builds up the story and adds mystery and suspense with twists that you will not want to stop. I thoroughly enjoyed this cozy mystery and really loved the way the author keeps you engaged all the way through the book.

Chloe is a back and the bakery is open and going strong when the yearly big surf competition blows into town bringing tons of customers, but also something sinister seems to have come in with the surfers. Chloe is not only busy baking goodies to make the masses happy and relaxed, but also on the hunt to see if a friend was murdered or really did commit suicide. The characters are so well written that you feel you are hanging with new friends rather than reading a story. The plot is compelling, engaging and entertaining not to mention the bakery being a cannabis bakery allows for the main character to impart education of CBD and THC and their uses in food. This is definitely a new twist on the typical cozy mystery bakery and one that I am fully enjoying reading about and learning about. As an older reader, it is great to learn more about the quality uses of cannabis and how it can help everyday people, patients of diseases and disorders, the economy, farmers and more. Not to mention, the treats sound delicious. I am thoroughly enjoying this series and can't wait to see what Chloe and her friends get up to next!netgalley-books2 s Lisa~Ilovemypug~ Currier1,916 69

#AHighTideMurder #NetGalley is the second book in this new series by Emily George.
Chloe Barnes owns Baked by Chloe, a cannabis bakery in Azalea Bay, California.
Chloe hopes that the Azalea Bay Pro Challenger Surf Competition will bring new customers to her shop, which sounds amazing.
A death at the competition sends Chloe into investigation mode once again, as she works to prove her the perpetrator is.
I enjoy this series a lot, I appreciate the author's portrayal of cannabis use, as I use it myself to treat the symptoms of my fibromyalgia.
I'm hoping to see this series continue for a long time.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for selecting me to read an advanced copy of the book.

What a fun book! I hadn't read the first book in this series, but I had no trouble jumping right into this story and this town. (and I will be going back to read the first one!) I was so intrigued by all the aspects of this book; the weed cafe, the surf competition, the various relationships, and of course the mystery. Everything was seamlessly connected and I cannot imagine the energy Chloe had to have to keep it all going, but she did! I loved reading about her passion for the many benefits of her cannabis products and her commitment to meeting with and using local growers. Her love for her family jumps off the page and I love how it is such a big part of her story. I don't know much about surfing, but was easily entranced by the thrill and the skill of it and the massive surfing world surrounding the competitors. The mystery was tricky and so well done - and I was absolutely shocked by the ending!

I already cannot wait for more of this series! Thanks to the publisher for an ARC of this book.2 s Valerie737 11

This book has all the elements of a cozy mystery. A cafe, a baker who snoops around, family, cannabis, a surfing contest, murder a maybe boyfriend, the snoop almost getting killed in the process of finding the killer. It’s pretty standard. Is this the season of mermaids? I keep getting books with mermaids. The characters are likable enough and it moves along well. I just didn’t feel anything special about it. #AHighTideMurder #NetGalley2 s Melissa O'Donnell150 8

Tourists are plentiful in Azalea Bay due to a surf competition, and it has brought many people into Chloe’s café. Aaron Gill is initially thought to be a contender, but then his friend Ethan finds him dead in their hotel room. Ethan doesn’t believe that Aaron would have taken his own life, but it they don’t find evidence to prove otherwise quickly it may not matter.

Chloe is run off her feet with the long lines of customers, but that doesn’t mean she won’t jump at the chance to bring guilty parties to justice.

This book was the second installment in this series—I read the first book as well. I’ve really enjoyed both books and look forward to others in the series.

Thank you to NetGalley and Kensington Books for allowing me to read an ARC of this novel. #NetGalley #AHighTideMurder1 Trish303 27

I fully believe that this book series was created for me. It’s the cutest little cannabis focused cozy mystery series called Cannabis Cafe Mysteries. I am a cannabis user and this is the first book series I’ve seen that focuses on the positives of cannabis. I have been counting down the days for this second book to be released and I managed to snag a copy early and finish it ON the pub date.
