Read in chronological order with other Dragon Born books.

I was a little skeptical going into this book. When I originally started the series I enjoyed them, but the last book - Magic Immortal - just felt too crazy and somewhat dumb. I was worried that this would continue with the WTH pattern, but, luckily, it didn't.

I was expecting there to be one more Naomi book after this one, since both Sera and Alex had 4, but this is it. Shadow Magic is the end of the Dragon Born series. It's a nice ending, if a little bit predictable, of course both Sera and Alex find out they're pregnant at the end and their daughters are the first none twin Dragon Born etc etc. I was a little worried about how the plot was going to be wrapped up, the pages until the end kept getting fewer and fewer yet there still seemed to be so much more to the story. However, it was done well, not great, but not terrible either.

A little thing that annoyed me about this was the time jumps in the beginning. We seemed to be going weeks between chapters with no indication except one line at some point such as "it had been 2 weeks since they had done X", with X being done in the last chapter. It honestly confused me. Or, another example is skipping to the next day next sentence. Alex is thinking if she should still go to Sera's for breakfast tomorrow morning. Next sentence she is walking into Sera's house for breakfast. It just doesn't make sense. At least make them two separate paragraphs.

I seem to have ranted more about this book than praised it, but, honestly, I really did it. It would have been nicer if I could have read it with the rest of the series and not had to wait so long, for I feel I would have enjoyed it more then. However, as it is, I'm glad I finally went back to finish the series. Honestly, it's tempted me to reread them from the beginning....1 Theresa3,581 12

Now that the demons are under control it’s time to take on the Convictionites and clear up that problem so they can all have some peace. Ha! But then the Convictionites make a big mistake by kidnapping Riley.

Still preparing for Sera and Kai wedding only now it looks it’s going to be a double. Cool. Naomi and Makani’s twins are adorable but I’m glad I don’t have watch them all the time. Thank God for smart godmothers.

Fave scenes: the chair cover argument, Sera & Alex’s groom gifts, pony vs. unicorn and the circles of love.

Wonderful Ending to the Series

With this book Ella Summers closes the multiple series’s revolving around the two dragon mages, Sera and Alex. Alex and her boyfriend Logan join forces with Sera and her boyfriend Kai and the Commandos to face down an evil that threatens the whole world. The story is fast paced and full of action. It also ties all of the loose ends from the prior series’s. I had a lot of fun reading this book and recommend it. Laura275 8

All you need is love

Alex and Logan - as well as Sera and Kai and the rest of the Dragon Born cast are back for one last outing in the series finale, Shadow Magic.

Shadow Magic is written from Alex's perspective. Alex, being the wilder of the Dragon Born twins, has more of an edge to her and her magic, as well as her taste in men. We're leading up to her wedding to Logan, aka Slayer, the world's premier assassin. And it's a double wedding with her sister, Sera, and her dragon shifter fiancé, Kai Drachenburg. The world of monster fighting has been relatively quiet which always leads to sister shenanigans.

That lasts until the wedding and then all bets are off!

If you're new to the series, or have skipped books, I strongly recommend you go and read those you have missed, especially Role Playing Magic, which can be found on Summers site. Everything from past books plays a part in this story, and you'll need that to really understand the players. Could you read it without the background? Yes. But it's not going to pull it together as nicely and as meaningfully if you had read them.

At first I was somewhat alarmed. The story had a bit of a sitcom feel to it with the sister's bantering. But Summers didn't let us down, she brought out the big guns for this story, and it's all that fans of the Dragon Born series could want with action, intrigue and twists.

At the end, there's a nice look ahead for these characters. I really enjoy when authors give readers that future epilogue. It ties it all up with a nice bow.

I found my love of dragon shifters (Kai) and dragons in fantasy fiction period via this series. I'm happy to see the series end with such a good read.

I received an advance copy of this book. This is my honest review. Mr D11

Confusing order of reading

I am used to reading a series 1/2/3 not 1/1/3/2/3/1 or any other mixed up order.
As a result I read these 1/2/3/4 and kept wondering why it was so confusing and what book I had missed.

Only at the end does it show a different order of reading. Rayandsarah White72

Brilliant

This book was a brilliant end to the dragon born series; all their lives panned out nicely, with a nice twist at the end I didn't see coming. Claire78 1 follower
