This story is about a couple that gets a second chance to get to know each other and fall in love. Maddie and Hector did not meet for the first time under the best of circumstances. As characters they are both super focused on their specific areas of interests. The plot is interesting and moves at a steady pace. There are no surprises that develop as the couple gets their happily ever after.1 Sandra543 9

Discovering the joy & true spirit of Christmas, when you need it the most!
A heartmelting warmth that glows with festive cheer, overlaces a twisted darkness...that torments with dangerous secrets and tragic haunting memories from the shadows...in this perception changing, well crafted, endearingly good fun - though not without its gripping suspense and lurking heartaching jeopardy - close proximity romance.
Destiny, so satisfyingly, brings together two never fated to be together as they desperately seek to escape their demons. And through the unexpected bond of connection, renewed hope and an endearing little brother, Christmas becomes the gift that just keeps on giving.
A joyous, I just had to read in one sitting, romance sparks to life, to transform the bitter tang of emptiness and heartaching, soul deep, loneliness of an understandably grouchy grinch, into one who learns to reembrace the festive seasons traditions and charms.
There is a raw touching sweetness, subtle humour and support of old and new found family and friends that surrounds this tale and glows at its heart. That allows this well written novella to bloom and intrigue with the depth of its characters...who accept and forgive one anothers (linked) troubled pasts and foibles with a fierce loyal protectiveness...and grips you with the harsh cruelties of the time, that will have me keenly seeking out the books that lead to this one and no doubt wallowing in Percival, Holly and her little brother, Noel's entangling road to happiness all over again!
I can always rely on Rose to sweep me so fully into her richly detailed (series connected) world and have me rooting so wholeheartedly for her believable characters, warts and all!

What a wonderful Christmas read. We have Lord Percival who only thinks about his father's death at Christmas. Not being able to let go of the past and enjoy any of the Christmas joy, his brother and new wife are trying to make. Percival decides to leave and spend time alone in a Cottage in the woods. There will be no decorations or anyone to bother him. His brother, Bedivere and his wife, Morag, and his mother all don’t want him to be alone. He can’t wait to get to the cottage and peace and quiet. Holly and her five-year-old brother, Noel, have been told by their dying mother to flee from the evil Lord who owns them. She has them go to their grandmother who lives in the woods with a special garden. Holly is shocked when she gets there. The cottage is in bad shape, with no one around. Percival finds a strange horse in the shed when he arrives and thinks bandits or looters are hiding there. Only to almost hurt a small child instead. Oh, my these two are both in for many surprises. Percival can’t help falling for Holly she is beautiful inside and out and not any woman he has ever meet. Noel is such a sweet boy and longs for a man in his life without even knowing it. Holly has never known anyone who didn’t Christmas or all that goes with it. This is an enduring story about love, healing and the spirit of Christmas. It also has secrets, mystery and some twists and turns you will not see coming. Don’t miss this one, it is a good way to start your Christmas reading. Even if you have not any of this series you will love this book. I received an ARC from the author and wish to thank her. This is my honest opinion and am freely giving it. Deborah Durand298 5

Remembering the ignominious death of his father during a previous Christmas, Percival spends the holidays in his brother’s home spreading grumpiness and dampening the Christmas spirit by complaining about everything. He doesn’t want to hold his baby nephew, he cuts down a holly bough, and he doesn’t want to spend the holidays with his family…they’re too cheerful. He sets out for a nearby cottage formerly inhabited by an old woman called Imani. Escaping with her 5 y/o brother Noel, Holly leaves the service of Sir Nigel after her mother’s funeral and heads to her grandmother’s cottage. Rose pens another story of two people of different classes. Percival is a noble ready for knighthood, and Holly is a serf searching for security and love…from her grandmother, Imani. Their paths cross when they reach the same destination - a dilapidated cottage, they’re reluctant to share.
Read how Percival’s disposition improves caring for a defenseless young woman and her brother, and how sharing his secret tragedy unburdens him. Holly is forced to do the same when the evil Sir Nigel comes looking for his serf and Noel. There are a lot of characters to become familiar with, but the author does a good job in capturing our interest. This Christmas story is a sweet little romance with intrigue and action. There are a few surprises near the end. It’s rewarding to see how Percival gets infected with the holiday spirit and the traditions which bring families closer together.

Sweet story

Percival was the brother of Bedivere who was married to Morag the daughter of one of the legendary bastards of the late King Edward III. Bedivere had inherited the title of Lord of Rothbury Castle the place where Percival was living.
Percival was upset with Morag as she was wanting him to marry. It was Christmastide and the castle was decorated. Percival was feeling down as this was the time of year that his father was executed wrongly by Lord Whitmore. He decides to leave the castle and head to the cottage where the secret heart would meet but had since been abandoned since Imanie had died and the girls were all married.

Holly Wakefield’s had just reached the secret garden with her little brother. She was excited to see her grandmother Imanie again and to let her little brother Noel see her since he had never met her before. He was anxious to meet her even though he was missing their mother. Upon entering the cottage she realized that no one was there or had been in a long time. Her mother had been sick and told her to go to Imanie’s to live and gave Holly her Secret Heart brooch right before she died. Holly and her brother had to escape as they were serfs of Lord Neville who was a cruel man.

Percival was surprised when he walked into the cottage and found a woman attacking him and a small boy in the bed. Cherie S825 12

A Delightfully Wonderful Christmas Story:
We find a surly Percival not looking forward to any Christmas cheer. He has been harboring bad feeling of Christmas due to his past with its nightmarish memories. Not looking forward to all of the family doings he decided to go on a hunt removing himself he heads towards the rundown shack in the woods.
He shockingly discovers that the old shack is occupied, and he is quite stunned at what or who he finds there.
This is where Holly and her little brother Noel come into this endearing and heartfelt romance story that filled my heart with joy as we followed them through much turmoil, horrific past situations, desire, a terrifying altercation that leads to a most glorious ending for all.
A wonderful Christmas story where we revisited many of the characters throughout the amazing Legendary series, and of course there is always that good ole Mountain Magic that sneaks into the story as well.
Charming, sweet story that left me with a joyously rewarding ending.
? Special Mention, goes to Noel with his sweetness and his love of his toy horse which has a special name.

Percival can’t move past the painful experiences he associates with the Christmas season. He refuses the family celebration at the castle and spend the next couple of weeks alone in the abandoned cottage on the estate. Holly Wakefielde and her five-year-old brother are on the run from the cruel Lord Neville after the death of their mother. They have come to stay with their grandmother, Imani, not knowing that she too had died. When Percival arrives at the cottage, he finds Holly and Noel are already in residence. Percival and Holly both have secrets, and are at odds at first. This is a heartwarming story about rediscovering the joy of Christmas. Familiar characters from the Secrets series, and some others, are here. Percival and Holly may be from different stations in life, but there is definitely a connection. Noel is smart and adorable. The villain, Lord Neville, is vile. There are moments of uncertainty, of danger, and joy, and a happy ending with a twist and some surprises. A delightful holiday tale.

While my first book from Elizabeth Rose, it definitely won't be my last. Christmas Secrets is the embodiment of everything that is wonderful about the holiday season, the perfect elements from a Hallmark wrapped up into a short, sweet read.

Both main characters find themselves together, along with Holly's younger brother, in a magical cottage after running from their current life situations. Where Holly is sunshine, Percival is a Scrouge and their personalities clash instantly. But, of course the magic of the holidays bleeds in and brings humor and connections that bridge that gap.

Christmas Secrets is a delightful and enchanting historical holiday romance in Medieval times about magic, found family, and the true meaning of the season.

Thank you to the publisher for an ARC of this novella. Annette2,912 7

I did enjoy reading this, he's a bit grumpy but meeting her gives him a new perspective. Her situation was not a pleasant one, I felt sorry for her and her brother. Best decision she ever made in spite of it all. Love her independent drive and willingness to fight for what she deserved. It all enfolds with some humor, and many secrets. Very entertaining and gripping with a sprinkle of the magic of Christmas-time. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. Claire317 6

I haven’t read a holiday romance set in medieval times before and I really enjoyed this one! I loved the relationship between Percival and Holly and how protective and caring Holly was for her little brother Noel. The characters were all very dynamic and entertaining and I would highly recommend this to anyone who is a fan of historical romance and found family tropes. A very great holiday novella with a lovely HEA at the end.

If you historical romance in medieval times this is perfect. I loved this story and the characters. This book was written very well and I can tell this author is on my radar in the future. I hope you enjoy this holiday novella as much as I did. Holly and Noel were simply adorable characters. You will enjoy Holly's strong character and I know you will fall in love with a little boy who just wanted a simple life. Lesley2,053 11

Status Gap Story.
A grumpy (almost a) knight learns to enjoy Christmas when he meets the secretive Holly and her brother Noel. Whilst definitely a standalone, it is nice to meet up again with the Secret Heart ladies and Imanie’s cottage.

Great Christmas Love Story

I have just finished Christmas Secrets, I really enjoyed the book. It would have been nice to have their baby in the story. I would to be a fly on the wall because I found out my ancestry goes to King Edward I

but one Ancestry site said Edward III. Aj1,813
