Sinopsis

An age gap, work place romance full of hope and longing

One bad break up. Two best friends. Three reasons why they can’t be together.

Work hard, never play. That’s Aili Reiff’s motto for life. When she started her own daycare, she knew what sacrifices she would make. A family of her own, and a partner who could love her. Despite having a small crush on one of her teachers, Aili is confident no one would want anything romantic with her. It’s simple really—Aili’s too fat, she’s too work obsessed, and they work together. Why is Aili even considering this?

Birch Blackwood loves teaching the one year olds, and she’s madly also in love with her best friend and boss, Aili. With a tragic breakup in her past, Birch runs to Aili for support. When they end up kissing, Birch finally has hope that maybe Aili loves her too. But when Aili pulls those walls back up, Birch is left reeling with what to do next.

What will Aili sacrifice for a chance at love? And will Birch finally make Aili look?

Made You Look is a sapphic age gap, workplace romance between best friends. This story sets the backdrop for Eada's new series that will release in 2024.

About Eada Friesian

Eada Friesian is an author of snarky sapphic women who fall in love hard. She loves all the characters and relationships she gets to play with and the best friends she makes with each new book she writes. She fell in love with the genre years ago and could never leave it. Who would? Now that she’s authoring her own books, she hopes to bring a fresh flair to the sapphic book world.

Eada lives in the mountains, camping her life away with her partner and horde of animals. She has her family right by her side as she strives to live her best life authentically as an author, a parent, a spouse, and weird person. She loves the smell of campfire, the taste of a completely charred marshmallow for a s’more, and living off the land with very little people around her. Of course, none of this last part is true, because Eada is a pen name, and the identity of the person(s) behind her remain hidden.

I recently read Taming of a Rebel by the same author, and this story locks into that one in many ways. This is set just before the events of that book.
Aili owns and runs a child daycare centre, having several members of staff. She is a workaholic, often staying late into the evening to get the paperwork up to date. Personally Aili is quite an insecure woman, but she hides that under a gentle ‘boss vibe’, usually handling her staff with encouraging respect and friendliness.
Birch works at the daycare centre, and has been there for several years. She is an excellent teacher who cares about the children in her care. Birch has also had a hidden crush on Aili, but has never said anything, not wanting to damage their best friend status or working relationship.
This is a good novella with excellent writing. It is quite short, and doesn’t have the same charm as Taming of a Rebel, but as a free story (presumably to encourage us to buy the other) it does its job well. I feel as if there was so much more here that could have been explored, but I understand why this is so.4 s Xiaoqing293 6

This book has all my favorite tropes crossed, a workplace romance, age gap, ice queen and a hint of forbidden romance. It is written in the POV of the owner of a daycare center, the middle aged workaholic Aili, successful, driven, caring and a control freak, she has a low self esteem and has long denied herself of true happiness. Her love interest, the young and beautiful day care teacher Birch, is also very likable, she is a wonderful teacher and she has fallen for her boss for years and she is not afraid of pursuing her love. A sweet and tender love story that left me smiling long after turning the last page. 4 s Heather301 1 follower

Sweet quick read! Real-life characters in real-life situations. Relatable. Aili and Birch have been co-workers and ‘friends’ for years. They have had a flirty fun relationship that stayed in the professional and friend zone. Until one, well read it and find out! It’s worth it and we get more in the full novel,Taming a Rebel, of this world and snippets of these MCs but especially Aili as she helps others navigate their happiness. 1 Aaron Mulder215

This was sweet story with a little bit of conflict and a lot of heart. Aili thinks she’s too old, too fat, and too much of a workaholic to have a relationship. Birch clearly disagrees, but Aili’s her boss. Can they overcome Aili‘s insecurities, their mutual fear of speaking up, and the complexities of a workplace romance to make this work? If there are two things I’d ask for, it’d be one more chapter at the end, and more time with the child in the story, Rebel. (Guess what kind of person she is?) The good news there is that I hear Rebel will feature in the upcoming full-length book.1 Lorraine Rusnack1,004 27

This is the first story in a new series and it got me hooked for wanting more. Aili works to hard and has a negative view of herself. Birch is young, beautiful and best friends with Aili. They work together and share a playful banter. They kiss and resist to take it farther which doesn't last long. Birch is determined to get Aili to see she is worth loving. The story is sweet with heat.1 Lotte47

I d the book, it was nice to read and I actually read it in one go, leaving some sleep whilst doing so.
The realistic way of main characters were written was nice and the way some things were left unfinished only made me look forward to her next book. Paulina234 17

This was mostly cute but honestly the logic behind the main work related conflict in this story escaped me. And it certainly felt too much drama for a story this short.

But I'll definitely be picking up the next book, I want to know about Rebel's ice queen of an aunt. Dulaine Roode58 1 follower

Communication is key in any relationship, those that are just starting out to those that have been going a long time. Aili and Birch walks a crooked road to get to HEA, and lots of messy colluege interventions.

Well worth the read on how their story starts. KateJoanna301 7
