This was a different kind of story for D. J. Heart, but I enjoyed it. If you’re a fan you know there’s going to be a super Dom and a submissive. In this case the submissive is really his own person when not in the bedroom.

The story is a parody on the superhero genre. In the story everyone has a super power. Some powers are boring but others can be extensive.

Brady and John's relationship is toxic as hell... and that is before everything escalates and that very questionable stuff happens at the end.

Brady ended up in a very messed up situation, which was ofc intended, but I did NOT sign up for that far messed up when I picked up this book. and the climax was once again anti-climatic as hell, and Brady escaped the situation by sheer dumb luck (and the villain's stupidity). It's then shrugged off as no biggie, but I really don't see how Brady wouldn't be traumatised af after that, even if he doesn't blame John. I feel slightly traumatised after reading this LOL.

Great read

I really this author, so when I got notified about this series I couldn't wait to read it. I couldn't put it down.
When the story started with people having powers, I laughed and thought what the H$LL?!? But at least it didn't turn out as outlandish as I thought it would.
It's a love story. When they meet their soul mate they "spark". Brady's in college and rooms with is best friend, Jake. So Jake knows that Brady doesn't date and it's been a long time since he's even been with someone. Jake is determined to get Brady hooked-up. Brady's type happens to look very similar to the villain known as The Mask, dressed in head-to-toe leather and built a Greek God. The Mask happens to break into the Science building on campus and Jake drags Brady over in hopes of at least getting a picture. When Brady faces The Mask there's an instant connection. When The Mask touches him, they Spark. Since the timing was bad, The Mask tells Brady to meet him at the campus bar later. Brady watches every guy who walks in but none look they could be him. Then one man walks in, dressed in an expensive suit, similar in build to The Mask. Jake tells Brady that he's Laurence Ackman. Laurence notices Brady and he goes over, introduces himself and when Brady shakes his hand he feels the Spark so intense he couldn't believe it. Laurence takes Brady out and into his car. Brady feels something is off and when Laurence says he's going to take Brady to his Dungeon, he knows that this not what he wants and jumps out of the car as it stops. Laurence gives Chase but Brady manages to get away. He heads to the airport to go home. Before he figures out what flight he can get on, he's approached from behind and when the guy speaks to him he knows it's The Mask. The Mask, John, teleported them to his home in Alaska. John explains to Brady most of what's going on and that Brady needs to stay there, hidden, until John can figure a way to make things safe. The first few books in the Series are about John and Brady getting to know each although it's mainly through hot sex. There's some drama, some relationship growing pains. The last two books are when things really heat up. Brady can't get a hold of Jake and finds out that Ackman "sparked" him in order to draw out Brady and John.
Brady begs John to help Jake and when he won't then Brady confronts Ackman himself. Things go from bad to worse but it is an HEA.
The suspense in the last two books, especially the last had me literally on the edge of my seat, holding my breath.

I couldn't help but notice the typos, especially over the last few pages, were rather irritating; half finished sentences and words that I think were meant to be deleted because the sentence kind of didn't make sense. I'm not saying this to be rude; and it doesn't affect my rating/enjoyment of the story. But I think such errors should've been noticed before publication. I wanted to this book because I love this type of superhero premise (similar to tv shows "Heroes" and "Misfits" or the awesome Reckoners series by B.Sanderson), but I found the characters very unlikable. I skipped all the sex scenes and the general plot was just ok. Nothing too exciting, unfortunately.

Barely a 3, almost a 2. Read for a group challenge and because I’m a sucker for super heroes and villains. A little hit and a bit more of a miss. I d how everyone has powers and the soul mate stuff. The rest was pretty much sex and BDSM but not really the bedroom safe and negotiation type, more on your knees and open up for a mouth ducking, along with imprisonment for protection. The spitting and slut shaming were a bit too much for me and I didn’t the creepy mind rapey stuff from the bad guy. Towards the end it got really twisted. I love this author, but this wasn't my favorite. I prefer the fated mates, werewolf or Alpha/omega stories. Here Brady and John had superpowers. Brady's power was minimal, but John had many powers. They were fated mates, but instead it was called "sparking".

I didn't feel the chemistry between John and Brady. Also, there weren't many hot, sexy, filthy sex scenes that this author usually writes and that I love.fantasy ku m-m3 s Tamae7

Excellent book on Good VS Evil in a M&M romance

I've been reading his books for years and I found myself reading the entire book in one sitting. Spoiler: The ending is VERY VERY fast. But considering how most e-books go, this is typical. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

Please be aware that this book may NOT be for everyone. There is rough, kinky sex that some people may not be comfortable with.

One of my favorite tropes is the big, sexy Alpha male who is overprotective of his lover, and Jake is the perfect dominant male. It doesn’t hurt that he’s a superhero who plays by his own rules and has a love of kinky, hot sex. Brady is Jake’s soulmate and perfect fit. Not only does Brady and Jake work in the bedroom, Brady also is just as protective of Jake as Jake is of Brady. The sex scenes are great, the plot is fun, and I love the characters.

Overall Rating: 4.25 Stars. I would love a sequel to this book. The whole concept of soulmates that are identified through touch mixed with the superhero powers makes for a fascinating universe that I would love if it was explored more. Everything was great about this book.
