I am always thrilled when a new Derek Fee book is published. I really enjoy the well written stories of murder, and the internal workings of the Garda Police.

The character of Madden, the lesbian Detective Sergeant is meaningful and indicative of her life in the policing family.

The story line is excellent and well thought out.

I do not want to give anything away to a new reader of this book. Enjoy it because you will not want to put it down. Keith Blackman6 2

Another excellent book by Derek Fee. Thoroughly enjoyed this book. Fiona Madden behaves in the same manner as Ian Wilson in Derek’s other books ie, work within the rules as much as possible but bend or tweak them sufficiently to get the job, & hopefully justice, done. Keep it up DF, now avidly waiting for the next book. kenneth Fowler161

looking for trouble as usual

Fiona is a hard working Garda with a high sense of right and wrong , when her interest is triggered she will follow it to the end .
He she investigates a 75 year old double murder and works to get a result although resistances comes from all directions , not an unexpected conclusion eventually is reached but was justice done ! Jean5 Read

Dedicated Police Woman Saves the Day

Fiona is dedicated to solving a 75 year old murder. Her partner is supportive, not her boss. In fact, he despises her commitment to finding the killer. It's too old, no one should try. Fiona disagrees and two bodies found in a bog murdered become her mission to solve! Mrs Janet S Howard171 1 follower

The corpse bog

Best one of the set. Ireland being neutral during WWII would have hosted German as spies. A plausible plot most of the way through but ends with a super twist in the tail Karin4,417 42

Who killed Gunter Eich and why??? AND where is Heinrich Baum and now Nazi gold??? I have been playing Celtic Thunder in the background as I read this!!! I enjoyed the music and the story and recommend the book.

Derek Fee writes a mean murder story, this one teeters on the brink but just when you think it is going to fall off the cliff into the raging Atlantic ... he pulls it back.
Fiona Madden, what a character!
Another Galway Murder would be most welcome! Alan R. Gault6

surprise

The story started out as a cold case that didn’t seem it could go anywhere. Then there were little clues along the way. But who could have predicted the outcome? A real twist at the end! I wonder what Fiona and Sean will get up to next? Sherry Arrasmith20

Intriguing

I started this book but became bogged down with all the character I could picture Mr Fee previous government leanings immediately as the story unfolded. Not my favorite storyline but I will keep reading further novels of Mr Fee's. Tedi Wells2
