This is book 3 in a series of five and because I read the two other books before and found them quite readable I was happy when I was able to get an ARC for free.

This part of the series is about Leia and Fender. As predicted by his name Fender is the bass guitar player of a band called „Cash and the Sinners“. The band is staying in the small Colorado town of Winter Falls, because two of the band members, including Cash, the frontman and singer, have already found their soulmates there and the band is currently recording a new album at Bertie’s studio in town. The remaining single band members Fender, Gibson (guitar, clearly) and Jett (drums) are sharing a rental close to the place where Leia, a single mom and her daughter Isla are living.

Leia is not very interested in getting to know her newest neighbors. As a personal assistant she has a lot of work to do for her new boss Brody, who is also one of five half brothers of Cash and a very successful business man (The Bragg Brothers have their own series). Leia therefore has not much time for more than to take good care of her beloved daughter and the usual household obligations. She is also a relatively new resident of Winter Falls and has still to learn more about the social connections there and how life works in this somehow weird small town, where a lot of hippies and environmental conscious people with sometimes eccentric behavior are living (The cosmos of Winter Falls is the setting for more books by the author). Cars with conventional combustion engines are not allowed here; everything must be somehow recyclable. Maybe that sounds a bit exaggerated and is perhaps a still unrealistic idea in our current world, but nevertheless it might be a nice one for the future.
Exciting for the ongoing story however is that at first both MCs are not interested in starting a new relationship, but are feeling a certain attraction to each other from the beginning. Even if they start as enemies, because Fender - without knowing the real circumstances - insinuates Lea being a bad mother. Although both had their own traumatic experiences in the past, they soon learn more about each other and slowly the beginning of a relationship becomes visible.
Fender’s two roommates Jett and Gibson are building a friendly connection with Isla and her mother too.
As mentioned above Fender and Leia each have to overcome some heavy obstacles from their past experiences, and this learning process is not only beautifully presented by the author, but also written in a realistic way.
None of the main characters is able to change right away, mistakes happen all the time and those are showing us that both, Leia and Fender, are not perfect but simply human and need their time to move on. Additionally I would to add, that Ms Haggerty described not only the sweet and charming character of Isla very well but also was able to let Isla act age appropriate (and that’s no small matter of course).
I highly recommend reading this novel to all readers, who enjoy romantic and sometimes quirky stories with not too much drama and suspense.

This series just keeps getting better. In this book we meet Leia who is a single mom to Isla, she hasn't had it easy and moving to Winter Falls is supposed to be their fresh start. She's finally getting what she's always wanted a safe home for her daughter who is her world. Ok maybe she has to work twice as hard but once she's proven to her new boss she's worth the risk as she's not qualified as a PA, then she can slow down a bit. That is until the new neighbour moves into the house next door. Typical she finally has a lovely rental house and now a Rockstar has to move in next-door, he better not throw wild parties every night. Fender just wants a quiet life but having Jett and Gibson living with him is that really possible. That is until the sweet kid next-door asks him to play tag with her. Where's her mom. Why is she talking to a complete stranger. Obviously her mom is more interested in other things than her daughters well being. Well that stops today I'll tell her to get her priorities right. Obviously that meeting doesn't go as planned, but Fender has finally met his match, just because he's a Rockstar doesn't stop Leia giving him a piece of her mind. This is a great story about two people both with abandonment issues and unable to trust others easily. But can they help each other or will Fenders past come back to haunt him, will his fame prove to much. I love the Gossip girls but I think Old Man Mercury just might have the up on them. Winter falls is certainly somewhere I'd love to live the whole town brings the word community to another level, they would do anything for their townsfolk.1 Kandiemarie1,294 3

Another amazing addition to an already amazing series. I can't get enough of Winter Falls and the wonderful cast of characters that reside there. Fender and Leia's story is an entertaining and enjoyable read. It's hilarious and fun and steamy. I was captivated from the first paragraph and couldn't put it down until I finished it. I'm definitely looking forward to reading Gibson and Mercy's story. As with all the books in these series I highly recommend reading this book.
