Sinopsis

Joorsu ‘Jay’ Melles is a jaded veteran recently retired from the Jungle, uneasy in polite society, uncertain what to do with his life.

1734 is the registration number of the alpha male he purchases for companionship.

‘Seven’ is an iota-alpha, the ninth iteration of designer males originally created for the battlefield. Engineered with excess testosterone, greater size, and greater strength, they are magnificent soldiers - but all that ability comes with unintended side effects.

Side effects such as a knot, and the desire to use it.

When each generation of alphas is phased out for the next, the excess supply is recycled back into society for domestic pleasures. They are retrained, reconditioned, made passive. Once their training is complete, they can be had for a fee.

There is no greater proof of power in this world than an alpha male at your beck and call, but this luxury is not without its dangers.

The danger of awakening the rutting instinct if you do not discipline him correctly.

…and for Jay, the danger of catching feelings for what was supposed to be just property.

Different Breed takes place in a roughly contemporary setting in a world just left of ours. It features elements of omegaverse (there are no omega characters, but heat and mpreg are not out of the question), and sci-fi bio-kink (genetic engineering).
