This premise has been done by other authors and the books were much better.

I the premise of the book. The main character troy not so much. I thought his character was very ineffectual and did not bring any gravitas to the story. For most of the book he was whiny and ineffectual at least in my opinion. Even at the end of the book he had issues, no spoilers. This book was supposedly filled with super science such as mind transfers into combat bodies, but you get in a fistfight in a bar and it takes three weeks or so for you to heal normally very inconsistent. Even though I gave this book a two star review I would not mind seeing where it would go with a few tweaks such as the blatant drug use being discontinued. That would not happen in any military. If the patches that the characters used warrant drugs than an explanation needed to be made for what they contain if they were all alcoholic then the book is full of a bunch of drunks. A cross between Starship Troopers with the incessant patch usage of 2044

I was looking for a Starship Troopers clone, and I found one. It really did follow the overall structure 'to a T'. Overall the it was a descent novel given it was a rehash of Heinlein. The story kind of dragged from 50% - 85% but I kept pushing through. I the reveal with Janus and the moral situation that created, but the book did not delve long on it before moving to the finale. Wow, what an ending... but I'm not sure how I feel about the ending.

(Edit) I forgot to add that the ebook version seemed to be missing some formatting at the beginning of each chapter. Sometimes just the first letter would be lowercase, other times the first sentence would have all uppercase. Scott Shjefte1,575 81

Mostly a combat story, minimal strategic or tactical content. The world-building was dry but the tech content was very interesting. Defensive war is near impossible to win. War is death and unacceptable collateral damage is ly. Received free from Amazon kindle. Brent Spurrell27 1 follower
