I really this one even if it's not what I'm usually used to, I d Carmen a little more than Evie and would have loved to see a little more of her feelings since the story is in the POV of Evie.
There's drama in this book but I d it for once lol

The start of the book was dark and gritty and real. Usually I don’t this kind of story but I got sucked in. The magnetism between Carmen and Evie is spicy and heart wrenching. It was kind of insta-love but it worked because so much else was going on a slow burn wouldn’t have been feasible, and would have only bogged the story down.

I devoured this book on the edge of my seat, with no idea how they were going to get out of the situation. Once they started really talking I found both of the MCs really appealed to me, both in their similarities and differences. Definitely deserves a re-read now I’m not so anxious about the ending. The author had written a follow up short story which I haven’t read yet, but I think it deserves a look.

There are a few (I think three) instances where a female character is going to be raped and she is only saved at the last moment in increasingly unly ways. It doesn’t actually happen but there is a very “rape culture” aspect in that it’s presented as kind of inevitable. 2 s Woody230 1 follower

The Book is set in the East End of London. Evie the daughter of a low minion to a gangster seeing Carmen the daughter of a rival boss in a nightclub and thinks she can bring her down a peg or two. They spend the night together.
Evie’s father is not a successful enforcer and usually manages to bundle the job, he takes Evie with him to burn down one of Carmen’s warehouses and she is there and catches them.

I loved this book. It isn't the type of story that usually appeals to me because of the cruel parts but that didn't make it unreadable. I d the chemistry between the characters and how even when they were not from the same social status they still had things in common. Alice5

Really good...

This is a well developed and incredible journey. I simply loved this novel. A realistic read that excites the mind and keep you turning page after page.
