This author may just not be for me. The book had an amazing premise but there was no execution. A traumatized captive, recovered after 8 years should have been a fascinating character but instead, this was treated an irrelevant issue with absolutely no long term issues after extraction. Isaac was pretty much completely over the whole thing in a few days. This was nonsensical.

For 150+/- pages this book felt it was taking forever.... It was so flat and boring I just could take it anymore. I even took a break in between to read something else.

If you don’t try to apply real world morals, then this is an okay book. I d it well enough. I d both MCs. I d the mythos, but that’s where the story broke down a bit for me. Nothing was fully explained. How exactly did Trygve become a draugr? What exactly is a draugr? Why can he shift into three random animals and smoke? Also, how exactly are they going to overcome Isaac being human? Yes, it’s partially explained but not the full mechanics of it. The author doesn’t give us any full answers and that just leaves me frustrated. Overall, it’s okay. Could have been a lot better with more explanations.

Enjoyable, but did not live up to it's potential.

What exactly is a draugr? How does one become draugr? What are the positives and negatives to being a draugr? How about explaining a draugr powers. There is a whole world not explored here!

Characters were okay. I d them. It has to potatoes but low on meat. It's a great premise, and start.

Surprisingly good

The author did a very good job developing her characters. Isaac is a personal favorite of mine now!
The story was plenty long enough and even though we don't know if Isaac will be able to extend his life, the ending was sweet. Hoping to get Thorvald's story next! Loveofadove29

Cool

I the idea of a draugr, it was super cool to see that type of character come to life. I always new interesting supernatural beings. The story building was cool, there were some nice twists and turns I didn't expect and that was awesome. Moomba755
