I thought it was a commendable first book. And I have some weirdly complicated feelings on it. First off, the spice is hot! But the build up, the tension leading could have been better. It was a quick and easy read, but there wasn’t a lot of action outside the spice. The love triangle felt a little forced but I can’t lie, **spoilers ahead** I loved the chemistry between Luke and Alarie. And the world building was great. I felt so bad when Alarie found out about Jay and the Lady. And Jay didn’t seem to understand why she reacted the way she did, or why her feelings changed. The two didn’t have much of a life together outside their work and the bedroom. **another spoiler** what was with the random kiss with Cass. No, just no. The epilogue definitely left me intrigued.
