Reseñas Varias sobre este libro
Overall the book was ok, definitely wasnt the worst but also wasnt that good, the writing is odd. What I found funny is one of the main characters Jacob and his friend Caleb stop talking to their parents because they are swingers yet hes throwing a daddy/boy mixer. Its all kink.
From the book We found out our parents werent just neighbors. They switched partners into every possible combo. They were never honest with us about their arrangement, but we found out through another friend of theirs. We asked them about it, and they denied it. Thats why we dont speak to them.
So he kink shamed his parents, which is a no no in the kink community, it may not be for you but you arent to judge what others do. And why in the world would you be mad to learn your parents are swingers and didnt share that with you? Why would you want to know that?
Its made to seem neither Jacob nor Caleb want anything to do with their parents but Jacob is all too happy to live in his parents home, follow all the traditions they set forth, mention all the good his father did etc but cant see past the fact his parents had an open marriage. That makes no damn sense. Need to rework that entire aspect of the book or change why he no longer speaks to his parents. Cause that makes no sense.
The way the author wrote conversations had, just seemed forced and not how people actually talk to other people. Most people dont immediately tell you they have nothing and grew up in group homes etc until they have a level of comfort with you. The details a lot of the characters shared in the first meeting introducing each other didnt seem they would be real conversations, I get its a book but no one ever talks that.
Also suddenly Blaine and Davie have been in the home before, yet last time he was in the music room he had no recollection of being there before but he woke up Christmas Day and everything was familiar suddenly? What? The four days prior jogged nothing from him? But waking up in Jacobs bed suddenly things are familiar. How did neither of them seem familiar to the other? Would their paths not have crossed if he had attended a Christmas get together at Jacobs house, especially if he had the same staff his parents used. How did no one recognize him or Davie? Wouldnt they seem familiar to Davie and Blaine? So much doesnt make any sense and Blaine can suddenly play the piano and has all these songs memorized. If he was that amazing at the piano why would he not have tried a job playing, he lives in California, Im sure there would be some sort of opportunity to use that skill.
I feel this book was rushed to the point where it doesnt make sense and theres plot mistakes galore. I definitely wont be reading anything from this author again, the writing isnt for me and comes across as if someone hasnt had an actual conversation with a human before, no one talks the way she wrote all these characters, not every person is so blunt, emotionally detached and talks a teenager, especially not men in their 30s. I know some men never grow out of their dude bro stage but the author wrote the Daddy??s as rich, well educated, successful men and yet they dont speak that.
Why I continued the story to the end I dont know. I guess I was hoping it would get better, it didnt. This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.Show full review Natalie318 21
