Ghostbusters steampunk team is back to kick some ghosts!

That's right! The second chapter in the spirit-hunters story is here and improved!

I found all my favourite characters, nicknames included, ready for action as they finally cross the boundaries of the Hollows and venture into the wastes!

If you read the previous book, you know the wastes to be....... Scary? Nah... Full of spirits ready to kill every living thing? Yeah that's more ly... I'd say... Terrifying! Yeah terrifying is suitable!

Again, P. R. Brewer brings the gang back together and I did miss all of them, specially Zora! Although this time I got to say that I have a new fondness for Signe! While at first she didn't seem mich of anything, in this chapter she surpassed any expectations I had for her! Bravo!

The new characters added to the plot were very much welcome and intriguing, specially since they all have something to hide, but I'll keep that to myself!

As for the story? Well it's a bumpy ride, full of fast paced action, spirits everywhere and nowhere to hide! Plot twists after plot twists! The constant sense that something is going to go very wrong very fast! I'd say I even felt I was reading something from the cases of Hercule Poirot, where I thought that someone was the bad guy only to be shown how wrong I was and how the bad guy was just around my shoulder mocking me.

The world, again, is very colorful and full of steampunk goodness! Trinkets and weird inventions but with science to back it up, and not just "magically happening", everything has a reason, and little Zora is there to tell us just that!

We see much of the same themes, the story revolving around friendship and love, discovery of love, growing up and maturing, but here we also find themes of loss, of grieving and forgiveness.

What don't we find? An ending!! We find loads of questions that can only be answered with a third book! Which will be very much welcomed!!

Fantastic second book! The concept is unique and original. The characters are well developed and interesting. The story itself was packed full of ups and downs, twists and turns. It’s been awhile since I’ve read a book with just epic foreshadowing, the kind where you feel a tug of intrigue that leads to an “aha” moment later. Really captivating story full of depth and creativity.
I highly recommend this series to readers who magical realism stories with strong characters and exciting plots! Awake at Midnight99 8
