One masked stranger, one hot night in this steamy rivals to lovers romance from New York Times bestselling author Brenda Jackson.
As a politician's daughter, life in the public eye is nothing new for Olivia Jeffries. But, instead of the excitement she craves, it's just boring political dinners and fundraisers, until she meets a handsome masked stranger at a donor's masquerade ball. The attraction was instant, the electricity...volatile. One hot night is all she expected but days later she discovered the man under the mask was none other than Reginald Westmoreland, the man running against her father. You'll be swept away by this bold, sizzling romance, part of The Westmorelands series. Originally published in 2009.

No Stars I did not finish it
I usually love this author but this book is not working for me. First the narration is just sounding too read from a page, not enough emotion and the voice is unpleasant to my ears. Second I'm barely into the book and these two supposed to be wary strangers are already kissing ?!? It makes no sense at all, they haven't even been flirting and she doesn't trust him ?!?! No I'm done. I am not going to finish it.did-not-finish13 s June56

I always enjoy Linda Lael Millers books and I would ordinarily give her 5 stars but I think I'm changing my opinion on current romance stories. It seems that the contemporary romances lately have these couples kissing within the first five minutes and falling into bed the first minute they're alone. I never considered that I was strait laced but I find it hard to believe that current chemistry is this out of control. Whatever happened to a little caution, constraint or being a little more certain. It just doesn't seem that real to me thus ruining the story right from the beginning. It spoiled the story for me. Sorry Linda but I know you can do better than this. This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.Show full review1 arthur kohn1 review

Excellent

I read this book with out putting it down. Stayed intrigued. Fell in love with the characters. Follow the author. Robin Brennan210

It’s a re-release and slightly dated as technology has marched on. Holly is a cookbook author, raising her nephew after her sister in law dies. Her brother is on the run after selling gov’t secrets to the Taliban. The romantic interest is a Secret Service agent trying to capture the brother. Obviously the plot is obvious with some of the angst provided by the tension of Holly’s brother’s situation. A little flair up is provided by David’s ex, who stirred the pot and disappeared to Africa. Holly’s long time beau is really more of a convenience than a real romance. Mix this together, tie up the ends and a predictable ending appears. A bit surprising that the brother is not receiving harsher treatment for selling secrets to the enemy. This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.Show full review Christine Hayes1,781 1 follower

For some reason I couldn't wait for this one to end. Seem to go from zero to in love in 5 seconds I didn't read the second story in this book. Bonnie934 4

I just finished State Secrets by Linda Lael Miller. I haven't started the second story in the book. State Secrets was romantic, intrigue. Very good read. Peni4,557 1 follower
