Sinopsis

Regina Bellini doesn't believe in love at first sight. After all, she knows firsthand that thinking with your heart can only lead to trouble.

But then Regina is forced to work for the one man who makes her heart stand still--Dane Conlan. And the storm of emotion brewing within her is undeniable. Perhaps even enough to tempt her into saying yes to her boss, in spite of what--and who--stands between them.

Wasn't an extreme amount of romance, nor did I feel a huge connection with the characters, but there was a lot of honor in this story.

After wrecking his boat during a storm, injured Dane Conlan arrives on Regina "Ree" Bellini door. Seeking shelter during the storm stirs up feelings for both of them. Even leading to a goodnight kiss promising more.

The morning proves much the same. During a breakfast steaming with attraction, it ends with a counter kiss after they are interrupted by a local developer who has been determined to buy her historic home.

That's not the only problem he's causing though, when he lets it known to Ree that Dane has a girlfriend (One he is now planning to break up with now that he meet her.) Oh...and that Ree has a husband.

Although true, Ree has been legally separated for 2 years now from her archeological husband who cares more for his work than her.

Dane immediately steps back from pursuing Ree. Despite feelings, his honor won't allow him to go after a married woman.

He's surprised after a few weeks when she comes to his office with an offer for his company to buy her house to turn it into a bed and breakfast. With his sisters behind the deal, they purchase it and Dane offers her the job of over seeing the construction, allowing her to stay in her family home.

Closely working together only heightens the attraction between the two. When Ree tells him she's put the divorce in progress, he believes there is hope once again. Especially when he realizes while defending her to his mother that she's the one.

Unfortunately when he goes to pick her up on Thanksgiving, her husband Paul is there. Feeling the 'Other Guy' he leaves again.

But Paul isn't there to save their marriage. His ultimatum to give her a divorce is to be given half the money she made from selling the house which he has no claim too or dragging the divorce out for months.

Standing for her beliefs, it does indeed take months. Yet the happiest day for Dane comes when he receives her divorce papers in the mail and they start their life together.2011-books Kay1,784 115

4 Stars! ~ Caught in a storm on Lake Michigan, Dane Conlan’s boat loses it’s engine and crashes into the rocks near shore. It’s the lights shining from Regina Bellini’s house that act a beacon and gives Dane bearings to swim ashore. Regina’s shocked at the man who stumbles in from the storm and then promptly passes out in her arms. When Dane comes to, he finds himself hot all over, and it’s not from his injuries. The chemistry between them is intense, only neither of them is entirely free to pursue those feelings. Dane immediately realizes that he needs to end his three year dating relationship with a woman, and he needs to keep Regina at arms length until her two year separation from her absent husband results in a divorce. Of course, when Regina sells her Victorian home to Dane and his sisters as a mainland extension to their Trillium Island resort, things get even more complicated.

Dane is a man of integrity and honour, and he finds himself battling his values because of his intense feelings for Regina. Time apart only magnifies the problem. Regina has faced so many loses in her life, and as a result she has an inner strength that helps her cope with Dane’s remoteness. Right from their first meeting, you know these two deserve their HEA, if only the obstacles in the way would disappear. Another wonderful story written by Ms. Braun. Her wrap up at the end, including the Conlan sisters, is very satisfying and it was sad to say goodbye to all these great characters.print Laura Hannaway899
