Sinopsis

What are you willing to sacrifice to get what you want? That is the question that haunts three childhood friends once they discover Mystery Cave, a place that seems willing to answer any question--and later--to grant any wish. However, once they realize that there is a high price to be paid for dealing with the thing that lies waiting and watching within the cave's darkness, it may already be too late. Mystery follows these three friends throughout their lives, telling a tale of both friendship and murder, love and madness, that culminates with a shocking and horrifying climax.

What a fine coming of age story! Dylan discovers a mysterious cave with his two childhood friends Everett and Sara. Legend has it that the entity within can forsee future and grant wishes. The kids give that a try and it works. But things turn bad when the monster within demands tribute. What kind of tribute has to be given? How does the relationsship between Dylan and Sara develop and what is it built on? And what kind of monster is hidding within that hidden cave? I absolutely enjoyed this well plotted novella with its well drawn characters and uncanny cave. I would have expected a bit of a different ending (it has to do with Dylan and the evil entity within the cave, but I don't want to do any spoiler here) but I can absolutely recommend reading this excellent told story! It really has some philosophical depth about life in it and shows the growing up of its characters in an impressive way!horror25 s Mary87

A fun thriller that makes you think

Mystery is an interesting concept and an even more interesting evil. On the surface it is a great short horror story. But when you think about the corruption of the main character, how his thought process turned darker and darker without him realizing it, that makes the story a true horror. Is it easier to corrupt an already corrupt mind? I just wish I knew what the other wishes were…1 Gwen Schwartz83 2

So much potential

This book had so much potential. Everything needed to be a spine tingling thriller was there. Except the world and characters were all one dimensional. It was the characters were walking around half asleep. Dialogue was minimal, so most of the book was spent guessing the person's thoughts. Years go by and the characters have not grown, either intellectually or emotionally. There was very little building of suspense. By the time the anticlimactic ending came, I was more than ready for it. It's difficult to care or become emotionally vested in cardboard characters.
I would to thank the author for offering his book for free. I am mesmerized by people who can take words, sentences and paragraphs put them together and create another world. Filled with amazing characters and storylines. Take you to impossible worlds.....Sometimes it all comes together flawlessly. Sometimes, as in this case, it doesn't. I can barely put two words together without messing up in some way. That is why I have such great respect for authors. Keep at it Mr. Faircloth, you do have the potential. 1 Christine Hunter327 5
