Annabel verlaat na een scheiding haar omgeving om ergens anders een nieuwe toekomst op te bouwen. Samen met haar dochter Leonie. Annabel ontdekt per toeval de stormroos. Een kotter die direct haar liefde heeft gewonnen. MaarÂ… er is nog iemand die deze kotter kost wat kost wilt.
Christian en Annabel smeden een plan om samen de boot te kopen. In het begin verliep hun samenkomst wat stroef maar naarmate de tijd verstreek vertellen ze allebei hun levensgeschiedenis waarbij de stormroos een diepe betekenis nalaat.
Een prachtig verhaal. Je zwerft mee in hun levensverhaal.

This is a wonderful story about the pain left behind after the fall of the Berlin Wall and German Reunification. Annabel Hansen was adopted after her mother had, as she was told, abandoned her and defected to the West. Annabel can remember her mother and the night she was taken away by the Stasi, and she believes the information she was given. Because of this belief and because she was adopted by a loving couple, she has never asked questions about what really happened. Following her divorce and relocation to a village on the Baltic Sea, her curiosity is kindled after she and a partner purchase The Storm Rose, a former minesweeper and fishing vessel. While cleaning the cabin shortly after the purchase, Annabel finds an old letter written by a defector who used the ship to escape East Germany. Following this, questions about what really happened to her mother begin to surface.

Corina Bomann gehört zu meinen liebsten deutschen Autorinnen und dafür stand das Buch viel zu lange ungelesen in meinem Regal.

Bei der Bücher von Bomann gefällt mir immer sehr wie sie interessante historische Epochen in eine unterhaltsame Geschichte einbindet.
Dies war auch bei Die Sturmrose so, denn die das Buch beschäftigt sich mit einem Kapital aus der neueren deutschen Geschichte: der Flucht aus der DDR.

Es war sehr spannend und unterhaltsam wie Annabel anhand eines Schiffes auf Spurensuche geht, sowohl über das Schiff als auch ihrer eigenen Vergangenheit. Auch die Liebesgeschichte hat sich in einem angenehmen Tempo entwickelt und wirkte nicht zu überstürzt.

E proprio lì sente il richiamo di una nave molto vecchia e dismessa che è in vendita, “La rosa delle tempeste”, in cui durante una visita, trova una lettera che le fa intuire che in passato sia stata usata come mezzo per far fuggire le persone dalla Germania dell’est a quella dell’ovest. Allora si mette alla ricerca folle di ricostruirne la storia, che la porta a riaccendere i vecchi dubbi mai sopiti sulla scomparsa della madre biologica e del perché la abbia abbandonata.
La barca la mette anche sulla strada di Christian, misterioso uomo d’affari che nasconde tanti segreti, a cui interessa la stessa nave. Chi la spunterà?

Dunque la lettura di questo libro è stata per me particolare. Non mi sarei aspettata una storia del genere a sfondo storico e così ben costruita e questo mi ha stupita e me l’ha fatto amare, grazie anche alla scrittura fluida e scorrevole che lo rende molto piacevole. Le mille sfaccettature dei personaggi e delle vicende narrate che includono sia il lato affettivo che quello professionale che quello storiografico, lo hanno reso molto interessante e con ogni capitolo totalmente diverso dal precedente e mai banale, a parte alcuni aspetti da romanzo rosa ma vabbè ci possono stare.
Tutto questo fino a 300 pagine più o meno.
Da quel punto in poi cambia completamente e ci si ritrova a chiedersi cosa sia successo e se si stia leggendo sempre lo stesso libro...
Sembra che l’autrice a un certo punto si sia come resa conto che non sarebbe più riuscita a stare nel numero di pagine programmate, ed abbia quindi cercato di trovare una conclusione affrettata a tutte le vicende aperte. Il risultato che se ne ha è che sembrano tutti finali molto banali e forzati e frettolosi. Tutto va come per magia al suo posto e finisci per chiederti se allora non sarebbe stato meglio leggere un fantasy dove almeno fuori dal mondo reale sapevi già di esserci dall’inizio e non restavi così delusa dal finale...
La parte per me più interessante, oltre all’avermi fatto venire la voglia di visitare le coste della Germania del nord e la Danimarca, che vanno ad aggiungersi ai mille miliardi di posti che desidero visitare, resta la parte più storica che parla di un periodo e soprattutto di un argomento, quello della forte contrapposizione e chiusura tra le due parti della Germania del dopoguerra, che sono raramente approfonditi e trattati sia nei manuali di storia che nei romanzi.2 s Mundo Gamusino349 16

Es un libro que nos ha llamado mucho la atención por su portada y su sinopsis, y que, finalmente, nos ha enamorado. Tenemos ganas de leer más libros escritos por esta autora.

Cuando conocemos a Annabel, ya nos cuentan una pequeña parte de su pasado, sin explicarnos demasiado, ya que vamos a ir descubriendo todo poco a poco a lo largo de las páginas. Y la verdad es que la construcción de la historia entre presente y pasado está muy bien construida, consiguiendo que nos quedemos pegados al libro desde el principio.

Desde el momento en el que Annabel se muda a su nueva casa y descubre el Rosa del viento, nos vamos a sumergir en una historia de romance y desengaños, en los que se incluyen parte de la historia de la antigua Alemania (cuando aún existía el muro de Berlín), en la cual nuestras emociones van surgir en todo momento, acorde a las emociones de Annabel.

La autora consigue llegar a la fibra sensible de los lectores, consiguiendo que se nos pongan los pelos de punta en algún que otro momento, y que seamos capaces, incluso, de llorar con la protagonista cuando ella lo hace.

Es una historia muy entrañable que esconde muchos secretos del pasado de nuestros personajes, los cuales no serán indiferentes bajo ningún concepto. Aunque si le tenemos que poner una pega al libro, sería que nos hubiera gustado tener más capítulos sobre el pasado de los protagonistas y que no estuviera tan centrada en el presente. A fare da sfondo alla vicenda è il Mar Baltico, le cui acque fanno riflettere Annabel non solo sul suo matrimonio recentemente finito, ma anche sull'abbandono da parte di sua madre quando lei non era che una bambina e sui viaggi compiuti da molte persone per fuggire dalla DDR.
Seppure sia appunto Annabel la protagonista di questo libro, devo dire che le vicende dei personaggi a lei legati con vari fili sono quelle che più mi hanno incuriosito. L'autrice infatti, dedica interi capitoli a narrare il passato di quattro personaggi dal loro punto di vista. Questi sono Christian, fuggito dalla Germania socialista ancora bambino; il capitano Palatin, eroe per molti fuggitivi e vecchio proprietario della barca; Silvia, madre di Annabel la cui scomparsa non era quella raccontata dalla Stasi e Lea, autrice della lettera ritrovata dalla protagonista. La Bomann riesce meglio rispetto ad altri suoi romanzi a raccontare una realtà non poi così lontana da noi e a non sovrapporre o essere ripetitiva nella narrazioni di chi ha memoria di cosa significasse vivere nella DDR e soprattutto quale fosse la vita dopo la fuga da essa. Storm Rose was so much more than I expected when I began reading it. I had not heard of Corina Bomann before and received the book from Net Galley in return for an honest review. I love historical fiction, and although this novel is set in the present day, the setting goes back and forth between Germany as it is today, and both East and West Germany before the fall of the wall.

I have read many novels that take place in Germany, most during the 20th century, both before and after the World Wars. But I don't believe I have ever read a novel that delves into East and West Germany so deeply in a work of fiction. I enjoyed hearing about both sides of Germany told by characters who had lived in both, and how they felt when they lived in each. I have a much clearer picture of both sides, and look forward to reading other books with these settings.

As we learn early in the book, Storm Rose is the name of a boat, an old boat that captivates the two main characters in the story, who have to work together to buy the boat. I found the book to be very interesting. The plot was captivating, the characters believable and I would definitely look for another book by Corina Bomann. Great novel!2 s Corinna668 51

In casa penso di avere altri libri di Corina Bomann (li compra mia madre da quando ho fatto una battuta "neanche i tedeschi riescono a scrivere bene il mio nome!!" quando ho visto L'Isola delle farfalle in libreria), ma ancora non mi ero decisa a leggerne uno.. Complice l'altro libro che sto leggendo in questi giorni (sto facendo una faticaccia assurda!), mi sono finalmente buttata sulla mia quasi omonima.. Che bellissima sorpresa!!!!
La storia ruota tutta attorno alla nave "Rosa delle Tempeste", al momento poco più di una bagnarola che Annabel e Christian vogliono ristrutturare, ma che in passato è servita a far scappare persone dalla Germania Est attraverso il Mar Baltico.
Ho trovato lo stile della Bomann semplice e molto scorrevole; unica pecca, le voci narranti mi sono sembrate tutte uguali (la narrazione è affidata principalmente a Annabel, ma nei vari capitoli dove Christian/Palatin/Silvia diventano i narratori non ho trovato alcuna differenza).

Sinceramente el libro no me ha encantado, pero no me desagradó, más bien me mantuvo entretenida un buen rato; la historia se centra en las vivencias que se llevaron a cabo en el barco durante la construcción del muro en Alemania.-El personaje principal es Annabel, una joven publicista divorciada, con una pequeña hija, que recién se muda a un pueblo y entonces descubre el barco, el cual la hipnotiza y hace todo lo que tiene a su alcance para adquirirlo.

When I read the description, it pulled at me. I had to go on this journey! Right from the beginning, Annabel and Leonie felt family and I found myself traveling through Germany with them. I fell in love with the Storm Rose and Christian, along with learning so much history, through impassioned writing and wonderful descriptive narratives. This story is actually several stories intertwined beautifully, revolving around the restoration and history of the Storm Rose. Loved this book! The characters and surrounding were really alive to me.

Skillfully mastered historical mystery! Characters more reserved in their feelings than I'm used to. Engrossing suspense, beautifully descriptive of surroundings and historical accuracy leads to a good read. 3 1/2 stars.

Io e Corina Bomann abbiamo un rapporto complicato: di suo ho letto diversi libri, di cui i primi due mi erano piaciuti molto, ma poi da allora non avevo più trovato le stesse sensazioni, anzi.
Per cui ho iniziato questo libro con il terrore di ritrovarmi di fronte l’ennesima delusione. Ma per fortuna non è stato così.
Questo romanzo, infatti, mi è piaciuto molto.
La storia è raccontata su due piani temporali, il presente, in cui si racconta la storia di Annabel e Christian, e il loro passato nella Germania Est.
Ho apprezzato particolarmente questÂ’ultimo aspetto: ho trovato il tutto molto ben scritto ed estremamente interessante, grazie anche alle molte ricerche dellÂ’autrice.
Mi è poi piaciuto molto anche il tema della famiglia che Annabel si è ritrovata ad affrontare nel corso della sua vita, tra l’amore per una madre biologica scomparsa e quella per la famiglia che l’ha accolta.

L’unico, immenso, difetto che ho trovato al romanzo è stato il finale. Ad un certo punto, infatti, sembra quasi che l’autrice avesse finito la voglia di scrivere, i ritmi si fanno più veloci, troppo, per arrivare ad una conclusione che a tratti mi è sembrata davvero troppo affrettata e campata per aria.
